shots fired.. We better have a very angry former #1 overall player on our hands.. Damn Mario, he called you a ''kid''...as in, not a man.. Just take this out on your training unti camp..keep your head down, mouth shut, and let that rage build.
Yet Rex Ryan had him on the field for 80% of the defensive snaps (5th best on the team) That's the sort of thing that makes me glad that Rex is still in our division.
I realize that his teams made the AFC Championship games with Mark Sanchez as QB, but it seems like every other team he has coached has grossly underachieved. I'm not sure what the media hype about Rex is...
I don't think the kid line is really an insult. My guess is that Rex calls most players, kids. Because he is old and old people call younger people kids.
Rex Ryan wasn't taking a "major" shot given how badly Mario Williams played last year. If anything he was a bit restrained. If he tries to do anything like that I think you're going to see a major confrontation between him and Jim Washburn. The guy is basically known for verbally abusing players and even other coaches that he doesn't like or aren't working hard, and Williams is gonna have a pretty big target on his back just off of reputation.
Always hated how Rex gets into it with players, shows a serious lack of class. Never go after the players and get into it in the media. How many great coaches can you remember getting into it with another team's players?
I disagree, i think in the context of the exchange he should know better than to call a 30 year old man a kid...bottom line its disrespectful and not cool by any standards, this isn't fu##in don shula here Sam, he's not old enough to be calling 30 year olds kids..
In the first gif I don't think there is really an excuse. He didn't go very hard off the ball. Mario is the only outside contain man in the second gif. I don't think he was dogging it, I think he was trying not to over pursue and give up a 20+ maybe 40+ yard QB scramble.
Seriously though ? rex spews a lot of garbage.... Nothing new. This is his sour grapes now, about how he's made a great defense not even all that good....in a matter of months. But Ofcourse it was all Marios fault for not wanting to suck on purpose, cover Gronk so Calvin Pryor can blitz, etc. Id probably dog it too, and if it got me away from a Rex Ryan led buffalo team... Than I played it perfectly. We all know what kind of player Mario is, and what kind of coach Rex is..... We're on the right side of this stupid spat. Rex hasn't even moved on yet. Dude.... So pathetic!
overpursue? He didn't even try to any-pursue Naw, it was pretty evident he was dogging it. There are many gif's from the same game. Looks almost the same isn't? But it's a different play. Against the Dolphins
I doubt very highly he'd dog it with Wake and Suh on the line. If he does, he's gonna hear it from them. All he has to do is go sick the qb. He should be happy as hell. If he turns out to have fallen off completely, we still have solid depth behind him. Not understanding the problem with Williams in our scheme...
I had less problem with the first gif. In that one he forced the opposing tackle to commit to him and freed up the LB to come around the edge.
The defense Ryan had in NY for the first two years was built (players) by Mangini. Year 3 -6 in NY Ryan's defense was ranked in the 20's and was continuing to decline along with the offense He is NOT a good football coach.
Rex Ryan is 53. Which means he was an adult when Mario Williams was born. I think this qualifies as nothing more than a generational comment. 30 year olds are kids when you are 53. He didn't call him "boy," which could be a legit bone of contention had he done so. He said kid, which again..he is two plus decades Mario's elder. It is perfectly acceptable to use. That part of his statement was not an insult DJ. You are grasping at straws during the slow part of the football schedule. Furthermore...Rex Ryan is 100% right in his diagnosis of Mario's play last year...so there's that.
hes on a prove it deal, I expect him to play motivated.. but if not we cut his *** after this season and be done with him. Not much risk involved, and theres no denying his talent, his motivation though is the big question mark.
