Every defense in the league now uses some form of zone principles to stop isolation. It is a fundamental aspect of the game. This is how defenses regularly guard LeBron:

Still in a holding pattern. But I posted a lot of stuff in there during the draft. Nothing is really happening now, and I am locked in for NBA offseason.

You said he was Steve Kerr. Steve Kerr. Not even Bimbo Coles who was an average starter for a little while. Not even Charlie Ward or Chris Childs. But a career 7th man in Steve Kerr.

Like I said, no one is playing a true 2-3 or 1-3-1 style zone outside if situational plays. Thanks for telling me what I already knew.

I loved that era as well, but the game has evolved. It has evolved through increased skill, while the guys are bigger.

My point is that you get these bigger, more skilled guys in a time machine back to the early 90's, they won;t shy from physicality and their size would be imposing.

Again..one more time..Dwyane Wade was 10 pounds lighter than Ewing and Robinson. LeBron, bigger than both. Paul George would have freaked out coaches in the 90's.

His point is that teams load to one player now when they couldn't before 2001.

That is irrelevant. Prior to 2001 you couldn't use any zone concepts. "Ball side box" is one of the more important schemes today, and it was illegal prior to 2001. Defensive rules in the 90s encouraged isolation play.

Bigger yes, more skilled? No. There's only 1 unicorn I've seen do a dream shake this era. There's no big with a go to move like Ewing drop step or Shaqs baby hook. The big men then had far more skill. They were better shot blockers. The only thing improved now, is as you pointed out the wings and guard play has improved some.

By your logic the players of today are always better then the players of yesterday and I'll never agree with that principle. This isn't like comparing baseball players pre Jackie Robinson where you can make arguments based on competition or something. The rules then made the game tougher. Plain and simple for me.

The officiating now is harder then getting past defenses. You can't figure out who is calling what unless you actually pay attention to how refs call games which you and I know most fans aren't not interested in unless they gamble and/or are basketball junkies.

Teams were always able to load to one player they just did it differently. They couldn't do it blatantly like they do now, now but back then you could also hack the **** out of someone and make them earn their 2 points without being called for flagrants.

Yes. Bigs were more skilled then. But Guards and Wing players today are vastly more skilled today. We tend to agree, but like I always say, the good ole' days weren't always good. Billy Joel was right.

There were some historic bigs in the 90s but if Lebron went back 20 years ago he would be AS big or bigger than a lot of them and as skilled as the guards, he would dominate. I don't care if someone could foul him hard, honestly a lot of guys would be hesitant to hard foul him because....he'd be a lot bigger than them. There were a lot of thugs on teams back then too, a team with Lebron would just have needed to have a few of them on the team to clean up anyone that touched Lebron. This bull**** narrative that older players have somehow convinced a lot of fans that these modern players wouldn't be good back in the day is total nonsense.

Everyone says the same thing. Oh they fouled so hard back then and got away with it. You don't think modern players could adjust to that? That's just silly.

I'm not sure if you're reading what I'm saying. I never denied that some people were bitter, but the fast majority really aren't. I'm not sure why you feel the need to go on this crusade to prove it either.

Also, the post below mine is not anti-LeBron. It's anti Cavs. Are you changing your argument once again?

It's so weird how people can't just say "Steph was hurt and could only reach his peak sporadically in the playoffs"

The whole Curry injury discussion got really weird.

I think my favorite thing so far is the pictures of JR shirtless in Vegas and then him being shirtless again when he got off the plane at noon the next day. JR just didn't wear a shirt for like 12 hours in 3 cities.

This is next level GM stuff...

I know that JR Smith can shoot and even Pat Riley seems to like him, as he used him as an example for the non-system shooters in the NBA along with Korver, but that is ONE GUY YOU DO NOT BRING BACK. He is the consummate "destination reached, gonna get fat" guy. Just like Antonie Walker.

He had a terrific game 6. then was awful in game 7. That is who he was. inconsistent all playoffs. He did have a knee injury, and that had to have hurt his shooting, but people on twitter and even on ESPN/FOX have gone off the deep end.

So I brought this up and sort of got killed for it.

A few years ago Hibbert was the big defensive thing and verticality was the buzzword. And then the league sort of figured him out and now he's trash.

I wonder if the way Durant and LeBron guarded Draymond is sort of the league "figuring out" Draymond. Not in the same was as Hibbert because Draymond is 10x the player - but I'll be interested to see if more teams throw a wing on Draymond next year and the Lineup Of Death is neutered a bit.

(And please note I'm just saying relative to how it performs now. Draymond >>>> Hibbert, I was just using that as an example. Golden State will still be incredible.)

What a crock of ***t! I posted an opinion. None of those opinions were unreasonable at the time or now. In fact, they were arguably the majority opinion. It wasn't like I was going out on a limb. Your offense is the only part that's unreasonable.

I think I am 110% correct in the things I've said and feel like literally nothing you are countering with makes any sense whatsoever.

The comments on ESPN's facebook page about Wade's cover had me laughing so hard at work..

By the way I don't know if it's true but Vince Wilfork supposedly is in the magazine. If you liked some Prince Fielder last year, or year before, I forgot... you might like Vince Wilfork naked.

Lol. Spoken like someone who once again has been proven wrong.

When you start an argument saying fans are bitter towards LeBron for winning and use a post literally congratulating LeBron as an example, how does me pointing that out not make any sense?

I guess in this alternate reality where all Heat fans hate LeBron and criticize his game constantly, logic wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

He's done this repeatedly. He keeps claiming tons of people are dissing Lebron's game, cites no examples, just says do a search. I've done a search and find no examples. Several people show posts praising Lebron. Yet he feels he's been proven right? LOL

So saying Cleveland is NOT built to be a champion, anyone who thinks so has just "poor analyst" Claiming LeBron will never win a title is ALL okay to call reasonable after he proves you (& many others) wrong A WEEK LATER

    Sounds about right...
