So is Durant only doing one meeting a day? If he's taking the 4th of July off, then that's the 7th before we hear anything and he may want additional meetings. I wonder if the C's and Clippers actually get meetings at this point
they busted a dude with $24 million in cash in his attic, a couple of blocks from my house. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article86621142.html
The difference is Riley. I have resisted getting my hopes up for KD, but I know we're legitimately in the discussion. I don't feel like we can't win a championship. I thought we had a decent chance against the Cavs last year if we'd met them in the conference finals. I also thought we had a puncher's chance against GSW. I thought we would need quite a bit of luck there, but we had a shot. Going forward, I just believe in Riley and the organization. Now I'm not like the fans that Sect describes in that I don't take last year for granted. I don't take any year for granted where I feel we at least have a shot. I do think its a down year relative to what I expect our future to be, but not in absolute terms. I expect that at worst we'll be in KD's top 3. If we get him great, but if we don't, I trust we'll make other moves to improve the team. If we lose Whiteside, I expect Horford. If we don't get Horford I expect they'll find someone else. I expect that Winslow and Richardson will improve through our coaching and their work. I see this as an organization that makes players better than they are elsewhere. (The opposite of the Dolphins unfortunately). If I were a fan of most any other team I'd be screaming to avoid Dwight Howard. If the Heat ends up getting him I'd be excited about the possibilities.
It would be amazing if we get news of a Durant signing on the 7th. That would be the best birthday present ever! I think our meeting coming last puts us in a great position. You know the rings are going to drop on the table, and there will be heavy thuds with each one. I think that will help to punctuate Riley's pitch, and those sounds will weigh on KD as he makes up his mind. If we miss out this year, I do think he will be strongly considering a signing with us next year. Great story, Sec. Did you ever get a chance to talk to CB about it later?
Detroit trading Jodie Meeks to Orlando per Shams Charinia. If Meeks can get traded you can trade McUseless
No. On one of the first shows I worked on, on SB, we had CB on the show. I tried to relay the story to him, but I never got the chance. It was all business.
Not really. Hialeah is still Middle to Lower class. Miami lakes is Middle to Upper Middle to Lawyer, Doctor and apparently Drug Trafficker class
If the Heat actually do get KD, how fast until there are T-shirts with Riley's face and under it "you the real MVP"?
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16613710/kevin-durant-first-meet-oklahoma-city-thunder KD meeting with OKC first.
While that wouldn't fit KD's personality at all, it would be worth it just to see if we got the same pissing and moaning from the OKC fan base that we heard from the Cav's fan base.
The Jordan faces would be amazing to see. One for Windhorst, one for Ainge, Phil gets one, Kerr gets one, Billy Donovan gets one, just a bevy of high quality memes all around. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Windy on with Ethan. Says he knows Wade's reps have contacted SA and Dallas to advise that he may be available
And those teams are going to pay him big, multi-year contracts? I don't buy that at all. If he does leave, and I don't think that's happening. SA is a team I wouldn't mind seeing him play for. Much better than NY or Boston.
Then again, he said there was no chance Miami would land Wade, Bosh, AND LeBron.
Wade might be a fall back plan with Cuban, and they might clear more space. Look if Wade is serious about wanting a big, Kobe type deal he's probably leaving, if not then I doubt he's going anywhere. This has played out before, he's probably just playing the game with the media, I cant see him playing anywhere else. The Wizards have cap space I'm sure though
Is it a coincidence that the two "leaked" teams are the only two teams to have beaten Wade's Heat in a Finals series? Maybe, but with all the games being played this time of the year, it could be deliberate.
Dallas low balled him 2 years ago, in one of the only offers he got. He has also not spoken to Mark Cuban since 06'. He also wrote a scathing rebuttal to Mark Cuban's and others oral history of the 06' Finals. That "destination" doesn't pass the giggle test.
I don't know I'd put Cuban up there with the best closers in the league, I doubt there is serious bad blood between Wade and Cuban. I'm not saying I'm betting a dime on it happening but I'd say if Wade is actually serious about leaving and not just using the threat to leave as a ploy Dallas has a shot.
I would have no problem if the Knicks gave Wade a multi year offer. I'd rather overpay someone great even if he has some injury concerns then someone like mr 5 for 32 in games 5, 6 and 7 (Harrison Barnes...who philly may offer a max to) or Kent Bazemore. He wants 3 years and 60 or 70 million and I'd be ok with that. That said I don't believe for a second Wade leaves Miami.
My feeling is that if HW does not "play ball" and wants to stall us, that we move on to Horford or D12. D12 especially, is rumored to be open to a smaller rate. it would allow for big bench upgrades too. If HW really wants to be here, I don't think he should mess too much with Riley.
The more I think about Howard, the more I am open to it. I'd prefer Horford, but the Heat and Howard could actually be a good fit for each other. The Heat culture could be exactly what he needs.
That guy is like a walking and talking form of avian flu for a locker room. Too much baggage for what he wants to be paid. If you're going after a big man, and if you're looking to add some scoring if, in case Wade leaves, you should look for Pau Gasoline on a two or three year rental. Would give you more off the court as well. He's old, but he's not a completely self unaware individual who also moonlights as an *******.
The irony of your phone autocorrecting Gasol to Gasoline is that he doesn't have too much left in the tank.
Hence why I said 2 or 3 years. Two is the more realistic, which undoubtedly means he'd ask for a 3 year deal in that situation.
I don't see him giving anything more than Amare except in brief bursts, and I'm not willing to give him a 2 or 3 year deal for brief bursts. Joakim Noah is a better option there.
No team has 3 years 45 million to offer him... If he goes to SA Dallas or any other playoff/contendwr team, itll be at around 10-12 million. With that said... Sigh.. If he wants to take a paycut to play with San Antonio because we did not give him the max, thats a low blow. He should Stop pouting and not reach that low point. He will be forgiven obviously, but you dont go to another team on a paycut because the other team did not want to give you max. Thats just disrespectful. I hope he has a lot more sense than that. And like I said before, if he ends up pulling a Jordan and signing the max for the Wizards or Bucks then so be it. But that leaves him treadmilling on treadmill franchises.
Joakim Noah expected to sign with the Knicks on a deal that STARTS at $18mil a year. That is INSANE. The Knicks are never going to be good. EVER.
