Looking good. That should be a huge improvement for the fans, and hopefully the team as well.

Battling direct sun in south Florida for 3 hours was a distraction for fans...shade will make everyone so much happier and in better moods..it was a must addition..very smart..fans more engaged in the action.

I believe the improved atmosphere will give the players a feeling of being on a bigger stage..

Don't forget that the players get to hang out in the shade too. There will be a refreshed Dolphins team lining up to begin each series, be it offense or defense.

I have to agree, based on my own limited experience there. The first time, New Year Day 1993, it was 90+ degrees and sunny, and I sat in the end zone. Got a sunburn, and was soaked with sweat. The second time, September 2007, it was also really hot and sunny at the start, but then a huge storm rolled in during pregame, drenched everyone and the game was delayed due to lighting. Afterwards, the sun came back out with a force, and after getting wet and then dry and such a rapid pace, my cargo shorts actually ripped off halfway down one leg! After the game, my wife and I spent the evening using the hotel's hair drier on everything that was in my wallet.

Stadium is looking nice. Still fascinated by the design to have our sideline in the shade while our opponents melt in the sun. Genius.

I took my son for his first game a few years back and he looked like a drenched zombie mid 2nd quarter, i literally felt bad..you just see a lot of folks sitting on their butts because the energy is zapped and their battling the elements..happy fans..more energy in the building..better performances by the home team..

Its also much better for the start of the game, I know lots of fans that would wait til the last minute before they would go to their seats for the very reason were talking about..so you would have a half filled stadium at kickoff...thats a bad look and i believe affected the psyche of the team early.

The pregame festivities now should be its own show with the very purpose of getting people in their seats early, and now they can because they will be chillinn instead of roastin..

hopefully the marketing team understands this.

Arguably my favorite part of the whole deal. A bench that is nice and cool is an advantage.

Put this in the premium forums a long while back, but I believe that that design element was taken from the 49ers and Levi's Stadium that employ the same tactic. Dolphins officials toured Levi's before it opened as part of their research for their own remodel. Fairly certain that this idea came from one of those visits.

I think it was a stroke of luck that the Dolphins sideline just happened to be along the south side of the stadium. Making the opening of the canopy smaller is about all they could have done to ensure our boys stay in the shade. And they probably didn't even have to do that.

Thank you, Mike! I couldn't find this info on any Madden related site. Glad that the stadium has been updated, even if it doesn't look the most beautiful. Eager to see it during the day with the shadows. Gase's body looks out of whack though, like he's been having a few too many donuts

I guess....but the orange bowl never had a roof and that crowd was insane. So it's not black and white.

Orange bowl was loud because the seats were so close to the field, that in itself engaged the fan..they knew they were intimidating...big key.

Yep. I've written about this for some time into the past. The seats were both tight around the field and had a steeper pitch. There were more seats in the lower deck (the upper deck was smaller than at the new stadium). And, the upper deck also was closer to the field. Even though it had an open end, the shape was not a square but almost an elipse.

Joe Robbie built that stadium for baseball and he made it basically a square. Which was ridiculous in hindsight. And, it's sloped easier for fans.

With the partial roof, though, that should definitely help the fan noise. I think that's part of what contributes to Seattle's noise - though it is also the case that Seattle has very rabid fans at their games. They are in-to-it!

Seattle fans are rabid because the structure led them to be that..

Exactly why we were feared at the orange bowl.

    That's just not true.

Seattle fans are rabid because they've been really good the last 3-4 years. When that team was garabage, tickets were selling for nothing on Stubhub and it wasn't nearly as loud as it is now.
Also, the effects of sound in that stadium are so overly exaggerated. I've been to a game there and when it's a normal game, it's the same level of loud as it is everywhere else.
When Marshawn Lynch breaks 432048304820843 tackles to score a TD in a playoff game in one of the most memorable runs every, then yeah...the top blows off.

This picture is exciting.. Look how freaking intimate the formerly behemoth called Joe Robbie Stadium looks.. Can I dare to say the place looks cozy now? Field a winning team and the new stadium is going to rock!!!
