Anyone else interested in the game? I have always had a very difficult time playing first person perspective games, but still, I'm very intrigued. Had the game come out in June instead of being pushed back to August 9th, I probably would have bought it. Now, with a few other things on my plate, I'm likely not going to get it until I'm done with FF15. Still, I remain very interested. This is the first of a series of videos that they're putting out to give people a better idea of what the game is all about.

I am interested to see if the game is actually fun.

It is a great feat of gaming that could be a gamechanger in programming. However, is the game fun?

Thats of course the big question. However, what constitutes "fun" is different for different games. As someone who doesn't mind a slower pace and exploration, as long as theres some rewards along the way to make it seem like I'm making progress, I'm cool with that. If it simply throws players to the wind with almost no direction, and the possibiity that people may actually get lost and accomplish nothing (which is my worry), then....not so fun.

Definitely on my watch list, though not sure if I would do PC or console. Some of the recent combat reveals wereally good to see. I generally struggle with balancing main vs. side quests in open ended games like Oblivion or GTA, but just a strait choose your own path seems appealing. Will have to find something to balance WOW Legion haha.

Based on Amazon reviews people either love or hate this game, no happy medium.

Its clearly not for everyone, but I like the changes they've announced. I'm by nature a very slow paced, patient gamer, so I think I'll enjoy it when I get around to it, but I'm also being cautious and not jumping right in.

When the game is described by the same reviewer as both deeply moving and incredibly frustrating you know it is walking a tough balance

I'm still very curious but will wait awhile. There will be plenty of planets to name after the kids in a few weeks

Played for a bit last night. Didn't go into it with insane expectations, so to say that it met my expectations may be a bad sign for those who were super stoked.

What is worrisome is that now that I've built the hyperdrive and bounced around a bit, I feel like ive now experienced basically everything the game has. Which is fine, it's still interesting. But don't go into this expecting a mass effect story or anything close haha.

Yeah, I'm aware that whatever story that there is takes a major back seat to the open exploration and everything else there is to do. It seems like if you want to rush through the game as fast as you can, its possible to do it in only 20-30 hours, but thats not the point or the intention. Whenever I get to it, assuming that I do, I'm going to explore the hell out of a lot of different planets regardless of what my needs are at the time.

Yeah my hope is that they've added a lot of little easter egg puzzles to find on the planets. I've come across a couple puzzles but they're mostly similar to each other so far.

After reading a lot of reviews, the consensus seems to be that if you're someone who is going to take a lot of time, and explore, and dig, and sight see, that you'll likely have a decent time with the game. However, there's not much going on with the game beyond whats on the very surface, and it appears that a lot of what was hinted at simply isn't in the game. I'm glad I didn't jump in at launch. I might check it out down the line after it gets patched a few times and drops in price.

I've been playing a LOT of NMS since it released (100 hours and counting). After about 75 hours, I had seen most all the animal/plant/planet types, mastered two of the three alien languages, and other than getting to the center of the Universe (just to say I had done it really) I had nothing else to compel me to keep playing.

There is now a HUGE update to the game though, Foundation 1.1 which adds two new game modes and base building to the game. You can now buy a freighter and go from system to system with it, hire aliens to work for you, etc.

Rumor has it the next update will add some type of buggy for land travel, which would add yet another, uh, element to the game.

For those on the fence about this game, I'd suggest seeing what updates add to the game and jump in when it feels like there is enough depth to suit you. For myself, I can see playing this game off-and-on for the next couple years, as I have a game save in each of the three modes.

Thank you for that, man. I'd been reading about the patches and updates, and giving that some thought. I wouldn't be getting the game right now regardless, due to others I'm playing or planning on playing, but maybe later one, with more updates and a big price drop, and I'll check it out next summer.

No problem. This is a game that changed a lot from what it was at launch and with each update the depth and options should increase. So, by waiting you'll get a better price and enjoy all the added features from the start.

Another example of that was picking up Rise of the Tomb Raider for the wife, which took a year wait to come out on the PS4. I bought it online during a Black Friday sale for $35, with all the DLC included. Others got to play it sooner, but paid a lot more to do so.

I've done the same thing a few other times. Got Mass Effect 2 for the PS3, which came out more than a year after it did on the XBOX, with all of the DLC on the disc. Waited on Skyrim for about a year, and most of the bugs were worked out. Got AC as a gift for the holidays the year it came out, but didn't install it until February, and by that point, most of the bugs people were so up in arms about were fixed. Sometimes, you just need to be a little patient and you get a better experience.

The next big update for NMS is coming this week. Adding the space buggy and probably some other things. Racing around a planet should keep me busy playing again (although Horizon Zero Dawn and then Mass Effect Andromeda make gaming time crowded soon).

I wonder if we can drive underwater? That would add..... wait for it.... more depth to the game! :)

    The announcement:

    Hello,

This week Hello Games will be releasing the next content update for No Man's Sky. We're calling it the Path Finder Update; it introduces a new vehicle that will aid home planet exploration, building on the Foundation Update to hint at a path ahead for the future.

Detailed patch notes will be released when the update goes live.

Shortly after we launched the Foundation Update, we released a number of patches to address issues reported by players before beginning work on the Path Finder update. We were surprised and excited by the response to Foundation, and we have been listening carefully to community feedback since then.

To those of you who have spent time sharing feedback, whether positive or negative, we are listening.

This is the next step in our journey. It shows the path forward. We hope you'll join us.

    Thank you,
    Hello Games

With the additions to the game, I might eventually end up picking this up on sale at some point, when I don't have any other new games to play. It looks like they've done a lot to make it a better experience than it was at launch, and thats not surprising. Sometimes, you just have to be patient.

That all looks like one heck of an update. If I wasn't playing several games right now, I think I'd jump in. Probably will eventually. One of those cases where waiting for a game gets you not only a better product, but a cheaper one too!

I bought the game on Amazon, and will start playing when it gets here in a few days. I'm really looking forward to it, after reading up on all of the updates again. Looking to get a pretty good game for $20, rather than a lame, broken one for $60  Patience wins!

After spending about 15 hours roaming around on one of the planets in the first system, I decided that there had to be something that I was missing. I went online and found a beginner's guide, and it turned out that the game never prompted me to do one of the early things I was supposed to. I figured it out, built my first warp drive, and now I'm off exploring the stars.

I'm figuring it out. The game doesn't always give you a lot of guidance, but thats really what the idea is. It can be really frustrating though, to feel stuck and almost at a dead end at points. I paused playing for a little bit, and I'll jump back in again soon.

So, the next big NMS update is called, Beyond. Releasing on August 14th, it adds VR support, online multi-player for up to 32 (probably 32 PC and 16 for consoles) and they are calling it NMS 2.0 (plus you can now ride animals, milk them, cook food, etc). I'm really hyped for the VR support and surprised at how much I'm looking forward to riding some of the animals.

Oh, and it's a FREE update, like all of them have been.
