Yup, and it's what most people can't seem to grasp. When Kaepernick did what he did, a lot of people came out and bashed him for being against the military and not appreciating the troops who gave him his freedom. Except his protest had nothing to do with that, and being an American gives him the right to protest how he pleases. In fact, at the next game, Kaepernick stood and applauded when they honored members of the military. It's just blind rage.

The owners own the team and set the terms of employment. The first amendment prohibits the government from limiting your right to free speech, it says NOTHING about private individuals or companies. Companies limit their employee's rights to free speech all the time. You sign non-disclosure agreements, you can't say certain things in public while on the job, you can't say offensive things or you might get fired. This is no different. If the owner of the team doesn't want them doing this or the NFL owners in general rule against it, they have no legal recourse and no civil recourse either since they signed the CBA.

Exactly, in the vast majority of the police shootings the person who got shot was not obeying the police. It's really not this hard, is it? But we have raised our children to be disrespectful to authority and have bestowed upon them a sense of entitlement. Our society is going downhill at a frightening pace.

Listen to the police, follow the law and you won't get shot. I guarantee it.

I couldn't care less. MLK didn't encourage violence. He encouraged people protesting to be nonviolent even if they were beaten and jailed. BLM encourages violence.

    Sure.

I also guarantee that if I get pulled over I won't get shot.

    Hasn't happened yet.

In fact, got pulled over twice this year, and neither time did I get a ticket?

Why? First, I didn't pull a gun. Second, I COMPLIED with the officers requests, and third, I was polite and respectful.

Those things are usually why somebody gets shot.

    Issue #1:
Exercising the freedom that the military fought for is more respectful then feeling obligation or pressure to not exercise that freedom.

I appreciate all the military, but if they served for a piece of cloth instead of the freedoms and people that cloth represents then they served for the wrong reasons and that is on them them not me.

    Issue #2:
There is absolutely still racism and social injustice going on in this country. The people that deny it or deny its severity are usually part of the reason the injustice and racism is happening. Its why there's a presidential candidate in this country who has not made a single policy proposal or platform plank that isn't based on racism, bigotry, misogyny and/or xenophobia.

    Issue #3:
Yes cops are people. Yes most cops aren't evil. The ones that are are getting free passes however and whether that's institutional or not may be up for debate, what isn't arguable is that its wrong.

    Issue #4:
The Venn diagram of people defending the cops and people who lean right, is basically one circle. Which is odd, because those are the people that tend to mistrust government and always suspect abuse of power. Its why they cling to the second amendment so hard....yet.....cops are killing unarmed American citizens to an alarming degree....and they are perfectly fine with it. Odd, wonder what the difference is...........

The CBA prohibits them to do so.

Plus it is unAmerican for the owners to set those rules.

I watched a video of a guy following the law, being respectful and getting shot. Your guarantee did not help him.

Also, I do not want to live in a Judge Dread world where being disrespectful to authority is grounds for death.

This is America. We exist because we were disrespectful to authority. Heck, we were founded by people who were disrespectful to auhtority.

    No they aren't.

They want cops to stop shooting unarmed black people. There's nothing racist about that.

Are there racist BLM members? Surely. What's funny is that you guys say not all cops should be held responsible for what a few bad apples do, but you don't follow that advice with BLM.

Another point that people can't grasp. Having the freedom to make our own choices and not having to be forced to do things is what makes America what it is.

Keep trying. Blacks are really the racists. Sorry but Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton etc. want it that way.

There are black only schools, black history month etc.

If there was EVER a white only school, or white history month, they would lose their minds.

An employer has the right to run his business and if he says you stand for the national anthem, you stand, or face the consequences.

I would love to see an owner grow a pair and bench one of these fools.

O.K. It is not exactly the same, but the words still ring true. MLK is not this man that you project.

The thing that would disappoint him the most is the fact that BLM is not great at P.R. MLK and the civil rights movement at the time was excellent at P.R. and strategy. Something that is not mentioned much in the history books.

I've been dying to say this somewhere for months now so I guess I'll say it here- the black lives protest only guarantees that black lives do not matter. They're a racist hate group just looking for other people to solve their problems instead of being men and fixing things themselves- like teaching kids to be disrespectful to the police, to never "snitch" on people poisoning their community with drugs and violence, and by encouraging hatred above all else.

What do you think happens when you commit crimes? The police take your butt to jail. And if you attack a cop, then you might get your butt shot. My kids know that...why is it so shocking to other communities that this happens? I'll tell you why- because some parents don't raise their kids and they turn into pieces of garbage walking the streets and preaching "the thug life". But guess what...they're still in America and cops still have an impossible job to do in those areas. If you're a criminal, then the police will approach you TO TALK...and your attitude decides what comes next.

If black lives mattered to the black community, then NONE OF THIS would be happening and parents would be beating the brakes off these young kids hind ends when they're 12 and 14 years old going down the wrong path. They'd make sure that their kids were getting a good education and showing respect for everyone, and they'd be giving them a solid work ethic so they could get jobs and succeed in life. But when none of that happens, you have a select few who plague society, get into confrontations and eventually get shot.....by other thugs 99% of the time.

But we don't talk about that....it's only the 1 tenth of 1% that get shot by cops....and that's a movement now?

I'm sorry folks, but it's just a lie in order to avoid the real truth. So needless to say, I am against all these athletes protesting because they're essentially endorsing bad parenting, crime, and racist hate. That's not a government or even a community issue...these problems start at home and plague entire communities.

And one more thing- there are crappy cops out there that abuse the system. I'm not trying to deny that for a second. But there are a million times more thugs out there than there are bad cops, so let's focus on what can really solve this problem in the first place. It's definitely not the po-po. And I'm not saying the problem is all blacks either...it's also a small minority that is perfectly okay with crime and letting their kids run wild. But that's where the problem starts and ends...make no mistake.

MLK went the peaceful path. Other groups at the time not so much. I respect him greatly for that. MLK would be completely against this "Whiteness" nonsense. He would be against colleges offering housing to groups to make them feel "safe".

He wanted every one of us to be judged by our deeds NOT our skin color.

We are going backwards right now.

They should stand out of respect for everything this country does offer and for all those who have died protecting those rights and freedoms.

I'm not thrilled with everything about the country, but so many people have paid a great sacrifice for America, I will not disrespect those loses.
