I agree. I don't know if it's injuries and lack of reps or what, but the guy has been a huge disappointment. I hope Gase and his ability to relate to players can get him on track (notice I didn't say back on track ;-) ). No matter what happens this year, I am definitely hoping we draft a workhorse next year. Bring on the beef at RB!

a weak back like Ajayi, who can't handle, not starting, will carry that onto the field if he at first can't be successful on the field. no thanks, keep him home

Well, obviously this is just a ruse. They're quite clearly hiding him so they can spring him on New England....obviously...

For real though, I would probe further when you see that he's in Gase's dog house.

Is it just a mental thing? I don't necessarily know why sulking can be held against you if that's all he's doing. It's on-field stuff I'd worry about.

Is he not working hard work enough in the weight room? Well, he looks alright physically. He looks in shape and ready to go.

Is he not giving 100% in terms of studying the playbook or watching film? We don't really know that. Maybe that's the case?

What makes me scratch my head is how a guy who seems like he's got so much talent could have gone into the dog-house so quick. I mean, in Ajayi's defense, Gase never seemed to like him. The team seemed out to bring in someone else from the get go. It's a lie to say that Ajayi was handed the starting role. That's not true when the team was discussing contracts with Miller, Anderson, CJ2K, Foster, Pead and others.

Before we dog him let's acknowledge that he probably felt a little forgotten in all of that. Now, it's easy to say "he should've work hard enough to grab Gase's attention" but was he not? Again, show me where people are sighting his workouts or study habits. If the dude is just a little frustrated and down with a situation that makes it seem like the team doesn't care about you, I understand that.

Nevertheless, it is what it is. Gase obviously think Ajayi needs to prove something and I have faith in Gase so I won't question this beyond the above. All I can say though is that Gase better have some reasons that we don't ourselves because the optics of this on the outside are that you're giving opportunities to some players (especially on the defensive side) while holding others back.

I don't think this looks good for Ajayi or Gase from the outside but I'm smart enough to know that there are probably significant events we're unaware of that had to happen for it to come to this. I trust Gase way more than I do a young RB so I'll buy his approach, but to me, this smells a bit like the Vontae stuff with Philbin--new coach comes in and punishes player from previous regime for various reasons relating to discipline and motivation and instead of finding a solution the team ends up losing a valuable player.

Let's remember how that turned out before we bash a kid we were all very high on last year. I'm not comfortable mortgaging the future of the position on a 5th rounder with health concerns and questionable vision. That said, I believe Ajayi is one of the most physically talented RBs on the roster right now. If this situation isn't sorted out within a month, it's going to look bad for everyone. Ajayi will be the guy who couldn't win a wide-open job, Gase will be a coach who couldn't motivate a player and Tannenbaum will be an Exec who didn't stand up for his own pick.

Maybe it'll fire him up knowing he could have helped. We'll see what he's made of soon. I hope when he gets in a game, he just runs over people and refuses to go down.

Ajayi just needs to step up, point blank. No need for further probing. This doesn't seem like anything Philbin has done and it baffles me how fans are comparing everything to what Philbin did. He's gone. Move on already.

How is Ajayi as a pass protector - that seems like the type of thing that Gase would find a priority skill.

    Some guys never get it.
