My fellow brothers and sisters, I am warning you from now you will be frustrated and just prepare yourselves for 4 games that will have the same theme to start: TN 4th in rushing Pitt 12h (climbing with Bell back) Buffalo 7th NYJ 10th MIA Rush D 29th These teams will use ball control and the defense will be on the field for a long time. Pack your patience
Run D looked fine against cincy. I'm a lot less concerned about our defense. I just hope we score points again.
I agree it takes time. I'm trying to stay positive, it was just a rough performance against cincy and it really magnified tannys flaws. And on primetime, everybody saw it. Here's hoping Gase gets it figured out.
other teams have new offenses and seem to be doing ok.... I did think we had a shot a Cincy, but you gotta score. serious question, what do you think has to be learned about the offense that would be so difficult?
I don't follow other teams very closely. Other than Philly, which of the teams running a new offense are doing pretty good. I see there are some rookie QBs doing nicely. I think the most difficult thing to learn is the route tree and terminology. From the first few games I noticed many of theses routes are at least two-way-goes based on the leverage of the defense. Now you have to match that trust with the direction Tannehill is going through his progressions. The thing I don't recall seeing any of are hot routes, like quick slants or posts where the receiver gets his head around immediately. Those are a few things that stand out so far.
I'm guessing this offense is more complex to the point where everyone needs to be on top of their assignments, and if not, it just doesn't work. The downside of this is that it takes a while for everyone to be on the same page. The upside is that when it does run in full efficiency, it's probably more flexible and easily adaptable, making it hard for defenses to shut down. Easier offenses start quicker but sooner or later defenses catch up, and then they start sputtering. I think we'll see some of this with the new offenses you're talking about later this season.
Than ROSS needs to Shut Up. They constantly are asking fans to be patient. NO sorry im not patient anymore. If they really cared they would drop the ticket prices to reflect the product. They dont sell out anymore and they keep telling us were not in rebuilding mode. Just GUT it and start fresh!!
I'm tired of the excuses created in dolphin forums. The NFL has way too many rookie QBs who have years less experience than our QB and they seem to be doing better with ball placement, timing, feel and anticipation. All while developing chemistry with 100% of their receiving corps. On the positive side, we are in the running for a great draft pick!!! I'm hoping a sure fire QB drops in our lap like Tunsil did if we aren't top three.
The one that's going to hurt the most is Derek Carr doing well (year 3 now). He has a 104.6 rating over 4 games so far!!! If Philbin was right on that, and it's starting to look like he was, then we could've had our franchise QB already!
I don't really find that many posters here are fine with Tannehill's play so far. I would say the majority aren't. Would you rather start Moore, Daughty or trade for someone else? There are 13 weeks left in the season and I don't tend to beat my head against the wall about something I have no control over. If Tannehill is lined up on Sunday, I'll be rooting for him to succeed. But hey, that's just me.
I would like to ride tannehill out for 12 games then place Daughty out for the last four. Lets see what tools he has learned from being on the practice squad and in the practices. It can't get worse.
Those rookies also have experienced receivers, good running games and good OL's, and defenses that play well together,,let not over look those things, look what happened to Bissel against buffalo's defense...rookie exposed, Lynch came in and played well in denver but again same as the above. What rookie is having a good season on a poor team right now?
Bottom line is if Miami continues to have plenty of holes on the OL, DL, LB and CB, then we need a franchise qb. For Tannehill to thrive, he needs a better team around him, he is incapable of carrying a team that is in need of talent.
Isn't available. Is anyone better than Tannehill ready to go this Sunday? If there is stick him out there, and I'll root for him. I thought this thread was about the next 4 games.
I brought up Carson because he's a rookie and he's playing with youngsters in that WR core. He's making it work though ...... and this is a guy who played only 1 preseason game coming from freaking North Dakota St.
Only a handful of QB's in NFL history have been able to carry a team into the playoffs. Currently, maybe one of that caliber is playing right now.
New system isnt the problem but if it makes you feel better about an offense with 2 good, young receivers, a good young T and not much else then so be it. Hopefully we have a new QB learning this system next year.
Sorry but I'm not going to get excited we held the 28th ranked rush offense to 77 yards rushing. -12 from Dalton
I SEE A 2-2 RECORD. If both offense and defense finally figure out their systems then 3-1 is possible
i am more worried in yards per carry allowed, a team running for a lot of yards just means the D is on the field to much.
Haha .... not what I was saying though. It was brought up that Tanny is playing with a young WR core, so I was contrasting it with Wentz.
It's nice to see a few fans still supporting tannehill. We saw it with henne too (possibly the same fans). These next four games will be hard for this team we saw on Thursday night to win any of them. Our best option is the game against TN...we have extra days to prepare for them. It'll surely tell more about the coaching staff and their gameplan after the game.
