On the plus side - "Branden Albert had surgery on his left wrist Tuesday and apparently has already suggested to teammates and coaches he’d like to play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams."

Just when things were starting to click.

If this team overcomes this, color me impressed.

Seems like Albert is chomping at the bit, though!

From what I've read independently, a surgery like that requires 3-6 weeks minimum to properly heal and using the hand can re-tear the ligaments quickly. So as much as we need the big guy on the field, he needs to take a few weeks off minimum so he's ready for December.

I'm not confident in the projected starters but I think we will be okay since LA's offense hasn't been able to score. So I'm still cautiously optimistic.

Damnnnnn, Shakira is down again (Hips don't lie)...

Well, we overcame the refs, now we need to overcome injuries, brutal.

Well, at least our backups will be fresh and more familiar.

I felt confident we could deal with one injury (Albert) but two? Not good. This game may come down to which defense can make a defensive score and help out their struggling offense. At least Gase has a bit of time to prepare the backups and I think they know if they struggle badly he won't be afraid to cut them later. They should at least be motivated to give maximum effort.

Who knows, maybe they can still run block effectively and we can run the ball enough to stay in third and manageable? I'd take a 13-10 win and be happy to have it. Same with the 9ers game. Survive, get Albert back and the OL should be good enough the rest of the way even if Pouncey is out for a month or so.

So, I read that Steen is now having neck and ankle issues. Christensen said he hopes it's just soreness and not something along the lines of an injury.

Miami now knows the formula to win. Next year, no matter what, Miami needs to build depth at the O-line. They have the skilled players already.

Its so brutal that they all hit at once. We saw what happened vs Tennessee. The coaches need to come up with a game plan that protects RT well and gets the ball out quickly. Before the Poucey injury, I thought that we could probably still do well. But now, we may need to win the game 16-10 or so.

Dolphins center Mike Pouncey is experiencing another issue with his surgically repaired hip, Dolphins coach Adam Gase told reporters Thursday. Per Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, Gase said Pouncey removed himself from practice Wednesday and didn’t practice Thursday, though has no been ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. the Rams. Pouncey has had multiple issues with the same hip over the past two seasons, and last month admitted he worried about his football future.

Gase said he doesn’t believe that Pouncey’s current issue is career-threatening. Pouncey had hip surgery after last season and missed the first four games this year after a preseason injury to the same hip. The Dolphins are practicing in Southern California this week. Gase said the Dolphins would “shuffle some things around” on their offensive line, and they already had to with left tackle Branden Albert out due to a wrist injury and first-round rookie Laremy Tunsil sliding outside to replace him.

I am super nervous about this. I think RT is gonna get the snot beat of him Sunday, and I imagine the run game will struggle. On a positive note, we get Goff in his debut (he looked awful in the preseason). I hope to see an ULTRA CONSERVATIVE game plan. This game has all the makings of a 14-13 game. I suspect that a turnover could be crucial. Make no mistakes and win. I'd even consider taking Grant off special teams for the week. Fellas, we gotta play smart this week.

I totally agree, especially about the TO part, during our streak every ball that hit a defenders hands has hit the ground, while our D was catching everything, we even had a DT get an INT.

We've been lucky on both sides of the ball with TOs, 8-1 on this 4 game stretch, that luck will run out some time, and when it does are we good enough to overcome it, especially now.

I think, now, this team is. It's odd. Just a handful of games ago, I would have thought otherwise. This team has turned a corner. Culture has changed. They have beat some really solid teams. It's finally happening!

Has the ball fallen their way at times? Sure, but that doesn't take away from what is happening now. I have faith in this team. And just when I thought Grant gave SD the game, Lippett comes away with the INT in the end zone. Then, they come away with two more, with the Alonso INT being the dagger in the heart.

Guys are making plays now; both offensively and defensively. The schemes are working. It's actually nice to see for once. I don't think it's an anomaly. Yes, having starters out along the O-line is a bump in the road. But I think they can manage it. I think we'll see more of Drake this game, too.

I WANT TO agree with everything you said, and I don't think anyone here has been more positive about the Dolphins this season than me. But the true catalyst that has transformed this team is the way we've blocked up front. It lets the defense spend more time resting, it keeps our QB clean and able to throw deep, it allows Ajayi to pick his lanes, and it opens the playbook for both coordinators and our head coach. Without solid protection though, all of that goes away and we become a screen-pass team that gets dominated in time of possession.

So the real question here is how far have our second string linemen evolved in the past 4-6 weeks? And I think that's impossible to answer without taking the field and going to war. Maybe it will be fine....or maybe it won't. There's no way to tell under the circumstances.

I can't disagree with ya, Key. Taking off the glasses, the contribution from the starting line was no doubt the catalyst because it tilted the TOP in favor of the Dolphins. I actually thought the D was playing relatively well early in the year given it was a new scheme. Those guys were just spent at the end of games.

Along with the line, Ajayi stepped up in a big way. Then things just started rolling. Wake comes along. Then Suh. Then Stills. Then Parker. Then Phillips. Then Kiko. I could keep going. Dare I say Tannehill?

Here's the thing though: it's just not one guy anymore. And by all accounts from the players, they're enjoying this staff. They're enjoying one another. They're actually enjoying playing. There's a different chord being played. And that chord plays winning, fun, football.

They're not without their mistakes. A lot of these players are new, and the schemes are new save for STs. I thought Gase did a really good thing in keeping Rizzi on board. But there is marked improvement in all phases. And that improvement is showing up in the W-L column.

Right now, that's all I can ask for as a fan. Even if they go 8-8 or 7-9, the way they're playing gives me hope. The comebacks are there. It's really nice to see. I go through the week waiting for Sundays now!

Oh, I definitely do the same thing....I've always been excited for our Fins to take the field but it's different now. I actually start getting jittery with anticipation around Saturday morning because I know we're getting close to a kickoff; I am definitely a Dolphins addict.

And you're right, people have been stepping up in big ways....even some very unlikely heroes. It's been awesome to see since we haven't had a team respond like this in quite a long time. They have a "championship caliber" to them...and we first started seeing it while we were still losing. So you're probably right- the protection can't possibly be as bad as Turner and company, right?

I would hope not, but I honestly don't even know a couple of the names that are projected to start. Steen hurt his neck and he's questionable, so I guess I'm just nervous. But you're right- I would not be mad if the team finished 8-8...I just want more for our team since they've been playing so ridiculously good lately.

I'll have to disagree about beating solid teams, 14-28 is the record of our opponents, not one winning team amongst them, and we've been winning all very close games vs mediocre to bad teams, and on our streak we've been catching everything on D while the opposition is dropping everything.

We just won a very close game vs a bad team that was injured, and helped greatly when Rivers inexplicably starts throwing the ball to us at the end of the game, 7min left, SD drove down field to the 10, Rivers throws a horrible INT to Max, we get the ball and do nothing, SD gets the ball and drives downfield to take the lead, with 4min left, we get a FG tie it up, SD moves 33yds in 3 plays then Rivers throw yet another horrible INT and Kiko takes the lead with 1:13 seconds left.

So, it's a bad team, dealing with injuries to boot, and we don't take the final lead until there is 1:13 sec left on a defensive score, what if Kiko dropped the INT? Would we have still won? SD was at midfield, and had been moving the ball well against us, they just needed a field goal, so if they had got the FG, and we got the ball back with 50sec left and no TO's, would we have won?

My point is that vs a bad team with injuries, it was that close, it was a very nice victory, but hard to say it wasn't a toss up at the end.

Buffalo was on a 3 game win streak, including their beat-down of New England. Pitt had a win streak of their own going. The Chargers have played tough football all year. These were not pushovers by any stretch of the imagination. And your "opponent's record" stat doesn't work because of an 0-10 team. Do you really think we are worse than advertised because Cleveland sucks that bad?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but your viewpoint is slanted. The Chargers definitely didn't "drop everything", they weren't at mid-field when we picked them off, and there was definitely no guarantee that they would have got a field goal on that final drive. They had possession 6 times in that final quarter and we shut them down 5 times...including at the goal line.

So for a team you said sucks with receivers dropping everything, you sure are giving them a lot of credit for what would happen on that final drive.

I guess you misunderstood me, I said that on our streak that the opponents D was dropping everything, a ball has hit the hands of a defender in at least 3 games straight, but they are dropping those INTs, one of them being a pick 6, had he held onto the ball that hit him in the chest.

At the same time our guys are hanging onto the INTs, 8-1 TO ratio during our stretch, Grants fumble being the only 1 for us, the bad guys are not going to continue to drop everything, and our guys won't continue to catch everything, so it makes you wonder, if we had a 4-4 TO ratio during this streak, would we have gone 4-4?

Well.. two teams we beat were definitely considered solid or good teams when we beat them: Pittsburgh had a 4-1 record when we played them and Buffalo had a 4-2 record. Of course we lost to the Titans who were 1-3 at the time.

True enough, I thought the Steelers were a good team, however, my opinion of the Steelers and Bills have diminished since then, as neither has won another game yet, they are both 4-5 teams on 3 and 4 game losing streaks, so how good are they really.
