Meltdown game all around. Well, Jay had a decent day, except that stupid taunting penalty.

Bit of a concerning game from Tannehill today IMO.

Locking on WR's, late in anticipating throws, inaccurate throws, not throwing it away and taking a couple sacks. The TD pass to Parker was nicely done. He's just... up and down. It's frustrating.

i think the offense got a little tight seeing how easy the ravens scored on the first drive. then the missed field goal, team lost any confidence they had about winning this one

Well, the defense would have had to have actually try in order to give up.

Higher percentage then this team deserves after the effort shown today. Ravens running up the score, disrespectful by Harbaugh, but we should be able to stop them.

I think there are probably at least 25 teams in the NFL which have better defenses than the Dolphins. I believe their stats were only as good as they were before this game because they were lucky enough to play against several teams with bottom tier QB's.

I think today clearly shows that this team isn't ready to compete against the other playoffs contenders now that December has arrived.

I predicted this would be a 6-10 team prior to the season. So the fact they have already won 7 games exceeds my pre season expectations for this team. With the four games they have left after today and considering how their defense has been totally exposed the last two weeks, I think finishing the season 8-8 is about the best we can expect this season.

Gase has had all season to observe Tannehill. So I think a lot of the play calls are dictated by the limitations he sees in Tannehill's overall game.

Even the announcers today pointed out that the Ravens told them before the game that if you take away Tannehill's first option, he has trouble going through his reads. That has certainly been very apparent today against a very good Ravens defense.

Tannehill is most effective when he has a solid running game and he isn't expected to do more than manage the game. While he has had a couple of games this season where he has led the team down the field in the fourth quarter to win a game. He is never going to be a QB who can be relied on to
consistently play at a high level against the better defenses in the league.

He is what he is. With a Legitimate top ten defense, a solid OL and RB, along with decent WR's, he is good enough to eventually get this team to the playoffs. I just don't think he will ever be good enough to lead this team to the SB.

6 straight games of his best football ever then the entire team top to bottom ****s the bed against the number 1 defense in their house and Tannehill 'is what he is' and will never lead this team to the superbowl. nevermind we were down 24-0 to close the half after having 6 defensive starters being out at one point. yeah he had a bad game and struggled. most of us expected him to. at least I thought hed struggle.

It was just a bad game all around. There's no one to defend for this one.

I'm not going to give up hope, though - we're still a couple of games above .500. But this game needs to be bounced back from.

They can't hang much with playoff teams. They did beat the Steelers at home, but Ben was knocked out of the game.

Should they make it to the 6th seed, they're going on the road to face the Ravens or Steelers most likely (doubt the AFC South winner gets the higher seed.) And they'll likely get dominated again anyway.

I agree this was a total team defeat. I am certainly not putting the loss on Tannehill. Yet that doesn't change my view of Tannehill which I have had for years now.

I believe he is effective enough at the position that if he has the support of a talented defense and a solid OL, he can lead this team to the playoffs.

I just don't feel he will ever be the QB who can lead this team to the SB. To me, winning the SB is really all that matters once the season is over. You end up with 1 winner and 31 losers every season, IMO.

I have no problem with Tannehill being the Dolphins QB the next few seasons while they try and draft and sign the players who will hopefully upgrade the areas on this team which need the most help.
Tannehill is certainly better than many of the other QB's starting around the league right now.

I just think that by the time the Dolphins become a legitimate SB contender, Gase will have already decided to go in another direction at the QB position.

This will be at least 3-4 years from now at the earliest, so I expect to see Tannehill in Miami for at least 2 more seasons.

I think we should be honest with ourselves, and this team really. Are we as good as KC, Denver, Pittsburgh, Baltimore? I don't think so. We hit a good point in the schedule, played well, and ripped off 6 straight. That's awesome, and tough to do in this league, but it doesn't suddenly make us great. We got out everythinged today by a seasoned coaching staff, and team that's used to playing in big playoff type games. We're a young team, with a new HC and system that's learning how to win and come together. The arrow is pointing up IMO though

I'm not going to put Baltimore in some tier above us. They're really nothing special. We weren't suddenly some top tier team last season when we put 40+ up on Houston in one half and this game changes nothing in regard to Baltimore. If they don't get overtaken by Pittsburgh and actually make the playoffs they'll be lucky to survive one round.

It's not rocket science. They are pretty much the #1 or #2 defense in the NFL and the best team against the run. They are our direct counters, and it was in BAL. Would have been nice to see a win today but realistically it was just never going to happen, especially not while being down 5 or 6 defensive starters for ****s sake. Gave up almost 500 yards in back to back weeks against 2 of the worst passing offenses in football.

If this season goes down the drain it's a safe bet it will be almost solely on the Defense.

I do believe the announcers said that he has trouble getting to other reads because of the lack of time he has.

His confidence was shot today. That first INT to Parker should've been a TD. Then he was reeling. He got outside of his normal rhythm and pressed. It's okay. I think we'll be fine.

I honestly think this was good for the team. Good for Tannehill.

How they respond will be key.

I think there was way too much confidence on this board regarding this game. While I'm okay with the loss, I do hate losing this way.

That's it 100%. After the tipped pick they were doing nothing but extremely short outs for the entire next drive or two. The defense dug us into an inescapable hole and once he lost his confidence, that was that. At this point it seems lucky our defense held the 49ERS to ONLY 24 at HOME, and that game was more than likely 2 yards away from being a loss, it's that bad.

I can't even waste my time looking at Tannehill with the way this defense is.

This game was overdue, plain and simple. And out of all games this season to pick that it would have happened in, this was probably the easiest call.

Wait I'm confused jw. What exactly IS your stance on Tannehill? I mean in post #3 of this thread:
    https://thephins.com/threads/wow-our-qb-has-arived.90251/

you state you now believe Tannehill is the QB of the future, that we don't need to upgrade the position, and that you're willing to eat crow for your past stance.. which btw is exactly the stance you just posted!

That is.. if you don't think Tannehill can ever lead this team to the SB, and winning the SB is all that matters (I agree with this second part for sure!), then how can you be sold on Tannehill?

Are you changing your stance back to pre-"crow eating" after a single game?

Injuries or not we got exposed today .......... both offensively and defensively. This is why I was worried about feasting on mostly sub-standard competition during our win streak.

This is pretty much my opinion too. I think this is a game the Dolphins were due to have. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. The defense wasnt prepared, the offense kept shooting itself in the foot with penalties, turnovers and mistakes. The only encouraging sign I saw was that the offense could move the ball against their defense but the game was so out of hand so early that Tannehill started pressing and gave up that horrible second interception. Overall it was just crap on both sides. But next week we will see what the heart of this team is made of. Will they lay down like dogs or will they come out with fire. Winning or losing isn't as important as how they play next week IMO

    They never said that.

They specifically said they interviewed various people on the Ravens and they all said if you take Tannehill out of his first read he will struggle.

Yeah, I had to rewatch. I thought I heard something different, but you're right. With a family, I'm usually not alone to watch the games anymore because of the youngsters always running around.

I thought I heard that the "struggle" was from simply the lack of time he gets...or at least implied.

In rewatching, I saw a handful of plays where Tannehill didn't hit the first read. And except for the interception at the beginning of the second half (up to the point where I stopped watching), he did well. I'm actually encouraged. Offense didn't look half bad up to that point.
