one day at a time. still a long ways to go but he wouldnt have the cast off unless there was some improvement
Very good news. If KC wins tomorrow night, do we start Yates against the Pats to keep Moore healthy for the Wild Card game in case RT17 can't go? Sounds silly I know, but it might be a good strategy.
No Chance he plays again this season. Edit: ok no chance he starts. If he is healthy enough to back up Moore this season that could be better than Yates but I think Moore starts the rest of the year.
I had a mcl grade 2 sprain. It's possible he could start the wildcard. He wouldn't be 100 percent but its possible. If I was to put a timetable on it I would say the next round is more likely for a return
Walking around isn't really the issue. He'll be braced up. As long as we don't see a Twitter feed showing him dunking in a pickup game at a local basketball court, he'll be fine. Football fine? Everyone heals differently. I hope he's healthy enough for Pitt, but who knows.
Even Big Ben had a couple bad games when he came back earlier this season from a similar injury. I think RT is our man going forward. I'm just nervous that he'll come out flat for at least his first game back (which could cost us a playoff game, season over). Maybe he would handle it better than Rothlisberger? Maybe if Ryan says he's ready, we start Moore and then let Ryan come in for the 3rd and or 4th quarter? I know that's unconventional, but circumstances. Whatever happens I'm going to trust what Gase decides and I trust it is not clouded and is the final word. He's earned that. And I for one hope whatever decision it is it pays off big time. Part of me wants to see RT come back and be the guy to lead us through the playoffs. But I am just as interested in seeing this weekend what Matt Moore is going to do at home... in front of a wild crowd... in a HUGE battle with possibly the best team in the AFC.
I clearly hope this team keeps Ryan in a backup role for the rest of the season and playoffs. Ryan coming back will disrupt the entire offense timing. So 3 games in with a new QB and the Oline adjusting for Moore were going to put in a QB against top defenses who might be a bit "scared" hate to say that but gunshy or whatever you want to call it who might try and force a play or two so he doesn't get hit resulting in turnovers etc.. Let him heal until hes 100% and can take some hits. Let the team continue to work with moore.
The same offense HE ran for the entire year? Now somehow they won't know how to play with him. Not sure how you connected the dots on that one. And he's been sacked more times then anyone and now all the sudden he's gun shy. OK. Sure.
As of the 26th, Tannehill is officially considered "day-to-day". The team is thinking the MCL will be healed shortly, but the hesitancy centers around the partially-torn ACL, and whether or not it could experience increased damage by Tannehill playing. All things considered, I'm 80% confident we'll see him start on Wildcard Weekend with a brace on that knee. Source: https://www.google.com/amp/www.sbna...s-dolphins-playoffs?client=ms-android-verizon
I think that would be a huge mistake given the we don't know if the knee is safe or not. Heck, we don't even know if he can plant his feet and launch a pass yet...it's just too early to speculate. Even if he seems ready though, I still think the team should start Moore and bring Tannehill in off the bench if we're not winning. I would always err to the side of caution when you're talking about your franchise QB.
Just remember that what we don't know is likely much more than what the team doesn't know. Just because we don't know if he can plant and throw doesn't mean much. I'll trust the team to chart the course for his return. They could have out him on IR and could have designated him to return for the playoffs as each team can designate one player on IR to come back. But they haven't done that - there is a reason for that.
Im just here to "stir it up" (bob marley voice). jk but in all seriousness RT will not play again this yr or I should say shouldn't. But can you imagine if moore was to beat pitt what that would do to tannehills career/ego with the phins. Right now RT would play with one eye popped out and 2 fingers on each hand right now just so that doesn't happen. lol
I think it would be a stupid stupid idea to bring Tannehill back this year. However, if you are going to do it, having him play the 4th quarter might not be a bad idea.
Hopefully Tannehill comes back this year, that's our best shot at having any success in the playoffs. Matt Moore can get away with taking points off the board by practically throwing the ball to the defense with minimal pressure in the regular season against the jills, but those Kirk cousins moments are absolute killers in the playoffs. Luckily for the Dolphins, tannehill rarely if ever makes mistakes like that, especially in that type of situation.
Yea but he only threw for 236 and Josh McCown had 2 tds and 341 against them as well, with the Browns. He must be an amazing qb too, either that or the jets sucks, I wonder what it is lol.
Once you get into the playoffs I think the calculus changes. It's win or no Super Bowl so you do whatever it takes to win. So my view is that you start Matt Moore as long as he is playing well enough to win, but if he starts to falter.. put in Tannehill even if he's not 100% (worry about long-term consequences later!). Even the great Marino learned that it's not easy getting to the SB. NEVER take the playoffs for granted! So I'd do whatever it takes to win once we start playing playoff games.
The main issue is there is little to absolute no reason to think Tannehill can't do (virtually) anything Moore can, and better. the team recognizes this as a whole, no matter what Moore does. In the end I'm gunna trust Gases judgement moving forward. Tannehill has been his guy all year and by all account hes hitching his wagon to him.
I wouldn't play him at all. Honestly, we aren't going to make it or win the SB. There is no need to risk injurying Tanny more.
No, you were right to begin with, you are just trying to stir it up. I'm sure Tannehill is really concerned with an older, career backup QB taking his job. I actually think Tannehill is rooting for Moore to be successful, in his absence, because that's the kind of stand up guy he is.
Have to remember if Ryan is gonna be the qb for the first round, he needs to be ready to go for practice the Wednesday before the game..can't have him coming on on Sunday with no solid practices running around.
One advantage of potentially having Tannehill ready for a playoff game is that it makes it harder for our opponent to prepare for us. The two QB's are very different in how they play and what they're good at. The surprise factor in who the starting QB is could be useful.
Ideally, you'd want Tannehill practicing two weeks before starting. The first week to get a feel for how he's like without taking away 1st team practice reps from Moore in case he's not ready yet. The second week to actually get him ready to start the upcoming game. IMO, the coaches are going to be cautious with him, if he doesn't start practicing this week with backups, he won't play the wild card game.
It's certainly a good way to get the defense to waste time preparing for both guys. Regardless of the reality of the situation I'm sure leading into the game we're going to hear a lot of "uncertainty" from the staff as to who gets the nod.
its not about moore taking his job, its about RT ungodly contract which hes not worth, if an old backup can win games on I think 5 mill, maybe Miami will think otherwise about who has won the games, the whole team has so maybe hes not worth the contract is all im saying. its happened to countless qb's in the nfl its simple business if a 5 mill qb can do it why would you pay a 96 mill or whatever ungodly stupid amount RT got. that's all im saying it has to be in the back of his mind.
Because, dude, if Moore was starting, he'd be making far more money than he currently is making. Tannehill is not making ungodly money, as compared to other starting quarterbacks.
The only people thinking Moore is good enough to be the QB going forward so we can get rid of Thill re the exact same who hated Thill before all this. Big names in that group: Omar, Miko Grimes Not among that group.....the FO, Gase, the team, rational people
his logic is accurate. Ryan would certainly be rusty, AND if you have not heard of a player being gun shy coming off an injury like that you should do some research.
