I have to say, this has got to be the first time in modern NFL history where people say a QB is playing at a high level with 19TDs and 12 INTs, these are very bad numbers in todays NFL when the good QBs are over 2-1 TD/INT ratios.

There are 17 QBs with better than 2-1 ratios, including MM, with guys like Rodgers at 4 or 5-1, RT has exceeded 2-1 once, 2 years ago, 27-12, ho hum.

The team around RT got better, not so much RT, and MM has thrown 6 TDs in 2 games in very bad weather conditions, in hostile environments, in the most important games of the year.

RT has thrown for 6 TDs in 2 games twice in 5 years, never when playoffs were on the line.

RT is physically a lot more talented, but MM is a better QB, iow, from the neck down RT is better, but from the neck up MM is better.

    JMO.

As far as I know, I'm one of the only people that has taken this stance, so please stop putting it on other posters, I, me, Finster is the one that says MM is a better QB, so lay that on the proper doorstep please.

This thread is the specular reflection of the one about why we should believe that MM is an amazing leader with unbelievable natural instincts and almost Manning like presence in the film room, and still - misteriously - hated by the coach although he is a winner.

I repeat my self, I know, but this kind of thread (rt lead us to the play off! He would have won these games! our chance of victory increase with the injury of our starting qb!) maybe are good for the board, because in their trollish nature spark endless conversations and debates about nothing, but why anyone should get angry about some clearly outlandish assertions?
Just laugh and go on enjoying our winning season.

It is also quite clear by now that some posters have really a dislike of Tannehill, for whatever reason (maybe they don't like the kind of player he is or maybe they took a position at the beginning of his career and are having a difficult time adjusting or they just prefer other players, like MM or Doughty or someone else: Fitz? Wentz? Flacco? Luck? Dalton? there are so many qbs that have been mentioned during the years as better then RT in this or that aspect of the game it is quite difficult to remember everybody).

If you are a Tannehill's "lover" and you think that some posters really have a bias against Ryan, my advice (like I am in a position to give advice to anyone...about anything! I know, lol) is to recognize this fact, accept it and don't waste anymore time trying to convince someone who can't be persuaded, it's useless trying to get them to see the inconsistencies in their argument (like If RT does something is criticized but if someone else do the same thing is good enough)

How incredibly hypocritical coming from this guy!...I am just floored by this. Not sure why people can't be happy we have good QB play??!! From a guy who has been nothing but unhappy with RT's good QB play this season? From a guy who wrote possibly the silliest post in the history of this forum about a QB who was playing well? Why can't people be happy with good QB play? Wow. My question goes out to Fin O and Rock Sexton, Both who thanked that post. While I don't always agree with your takes on things, I do like to read your ideas. Do either one of you see the bolded part as being anything other than ridiculously hypocritical...Honestly?

During the Jets game it was 40F, dry, and with 4 mph winds.

During the Bills game it was also nearly 40F, dry, but pretty windy. Not enough to affect a 55yrd FG, however.

    lol...Keep reaching

Also, we've had good QB play once the o-line got healthy.

    Wrong...

And Moore has thrown 6 TD's in 2 games once in 9 years.

MM is a better QB? bwhahaha! I would place you on ignore, but then I'd miss out on the entertainment.

Yes, you are one of the only people to take this stance. Including every single coach, gm and player in the NFL. hahaha...

If you bothered to read I said Gase threw in there that it was also a lot on the other players plate. But YOU made the comment that Gase never said it was too much for Tanny. So I bolded the part that contradicted that.

He did not say Tanny was great but they couldn't keep up.

Weddle specifically said Tanny was doing well because they pulled back what he's been asked to do. That there are only so many Rivers and Mannings (Peyton).

When asked about that did Gase defend his qb and say, no Tannehill could run it just fine but it was the other guys?

No, he said Weddle is one smart guy and it was too much for the QB.

It's right there in Gase's own words. You can try and spin it all you want but Gase never corrected Weddle but confirmed it.

Keeping in mind they average over 12 wins a season regardless of how tough or easy their schedule is how would you bring it up about the Patriots? There isn't much meat on the bone there as far as how much an easy schedule could help them but going 14-2 as opposed to their regular 12-4 could be attributed to the schedule. And they probably would have been 15-1 had Brady started every game.

But in reality it would seem silly to bring up a 'yeah but they had an easy schedule that year' to diminish any Patriot achievement. The Dolphins on the other hand have only had "success" (getting a wildcard spot) when the schedule was at its easiest over the past 20 years, so its probably fair to mention it.

You don't think its easier to play Seattle in your own home than in Seattle's, for example?

I mean NE & Miami both have 6 wins at home this year. We've had to play NE and Seattle both at home this year and we've also had back to back west coast games (for a grand total of 3 games on the opposite coast, which is a LOT!)

Hell, without us beating the Bills twice they'd be a 9 win team and no one would be calling them a bad team or easy win.

What about playing the same schedule with a brand new coaching staff and schemes?

Matt Moore has had a good career with the Dolphins, before this particular year as well. Especially for a back-up. The last times he's started for us he did well to if I remember correctly. Matt Moore has always been solid, knock on wood. He does have the occasional longball into double coverage brain fart. But to be fair he also makes big plays down the field also.

Dry, are you kidding, it rained right up until game time in both games, both fields were soaked.

How do you know that the wind isn't what made the FG good? Lets just put aside that 3 relatively easy FGs were missed.

And I'm the one that's reaching, that's rich.

So you didn't watch the games? Here...do you see any "soaked" players? Because of the field was "soaked" you'd think they'd get some water on themselves. Bone. Dry. Field. hahah

This is the Buffalo game. Again, bone dry field. Go to about the 0:50 mark...you'll see Carpenter miss his first FG. Look at the flags on top of the goal posts...not moving an inch. You'd think if there was "very bad weather" they'd be moving a little, huh? bwhaha...

Then go to about the 4:53 mark. Again, Carpenter makes one, but no wind. bwhahahah!

At the 6:00 mark we see Franks 55 yarder. There is a VERY slight right to left wind. bwhahahaha! But you think that "helped" him? hahaha!

At about the 6:20 mark we see Carpenter miss his OT FG. Again, VERY slight wind blowing in the same direction as when Franks made his 55 yarder.

At about the 6:50 mark is where Franks hits the game winner. NO....wind. bwhahaha

Man...you'd think more people would have heard about this "Internet" and how a person can get called out when they just make stuff up. bwwhahaha...

We simplified the offense. We pulled back what we asked the qb to do. It was a lot on the QBs plate.

I know exactly what was said. I know exactly what Weddle said. I know Gase confirmed Weddle was right.

    Don't make this complicated.

    Sure thing.

Except, you're putting words in his mouth. We KNOW that early in the year, Gase had no issue with Tannehill running the offense, and that he was concerned about other players not knowing the offense. Then, we have your quotes, where he talks about it being "alot on the QBs plate," along with specifically mentioning the receivers, and it being "alot on their plate." Nowhere did he say it was too much for Tannehill, that's simply your inference. Perhaps he didn't want Tannehill having to identify and audible AND THEN also have to try to line all the people up in the proper way. Perhaps that's what he meant by "alot on the QBs plate."

But yeah, I guess your opinion is the right one.

Funny isnt it? He is about as clueless when it comes to football as he is real estate. Some people dont know their own limitations. In this guys mind, he is probably the coolest, smartest guy in town. Fantasy is sometimes easier to deal with than reality. Lucky for danmarino he has a childs imagination. He's probably a miserable lil fella in real life though.

Yes sir. The real Dan Marino is. The one who thinks the wind had nothing to do with Carpenters fg attempt in OT taking a direct turn to the right just the same as his missed fg earlier is likely a mediocre citizen at best.

I must have missed the message. Its a "mistery". I dont really care anymore to discuss anything with the Tannehill protectors anymore. Im glad thill finally started showing signs of life the 2nd half of this season and I hope he continues to improve and I hope he gets healthy. I just think its funny these same posters knocking Moore would still be in the bathroom cleaning themselves up if tannehill had the exact 2.5 games Moore just had.

The whole "you must not like Tannehill because you didn't blindly tail him for 4 years and apologize for every error in his career" stuff is beyond ridiculous.

Yes, it is possible to recognize Ryan's situation sucked AND recognize you watched a QB not play very well for the most part. Its called evaluating.

The false accusations around here are what makes it ****ty.

I really believe people who operate that way about a QB they have never met must be really bad at claiming to be a victim in their own personal lives. I think evaluating would be looking at his play in one of the worst situations in the NFL, and realizing that he developed and played pretty well, all things considered.

I guess people really expected Tannehill to put up Aaron Rodgers numbers in his situation.

No one is diminishing Moore's play. We're also not overstating it, like some others in here are.

It isn't about the numbers. I watched him play QB and most of his games were rough to watch due to his OL, coaches and quite frankly himself.

He actually put up good "numbers" in 14...but you kinda knew they weren't significant numbers if that makes sense.

His past issues are irrelevant he looks like he is on track, and that's what matters.

    No. We wouldn't.
No one is knocking Moore. He played great out of nowhere. We are all thankful for that, But let's not pretend like every GOOD game Tannehill has ever had has not been downplayed to absolute **** here by several people. That's part of the issue.

Also, His stretch of good play was not the '2nd half of the season', but keep reaching. The entire team was devoid of life during the 1-4 start.

Both sides acknowledge Moore is a good backup.
Both sides acknowledge we are happy to have him on the team.
Both sides are happy the team is still able to win with him.
Both sides even acknowledged he played well.

Tannehill is still the better QB.
The team is still better off with him under center.
Tannehill WILL be the starter next year regardless of this years outcome with Moore, save for injury issues.

There is no real argument. There is no downplaying Moore because he is exactly what we all know he is.

Aside from maybe 2 or 3 delusional people, that is the consensus. You can blame concussions, or bad luck or whatever you want, but you don't become a career back up over 9 years by choice. Moore had several opportunities to become a full blown starter or to be picked up in FA as one and it never happened. I'm going to tend to trust the NFL employees who's jobs are on the line making these decisions over people on a message board. Moore went through several FA visits with other teams over the years including as recent as 2015 and 2016 both (which were backup visits at this point anyway) and got picked up by no one, so the fins got him at a reduced amount, halving his salary multiple times. (After paying him 4m a year, we then got him for 2.7m for 1 and now we're paying him 1.8mil / year). Which is great for us.

He had no problem, and yet they were losing games and Tanny was giving out INTS like its candy at halloweeen. When was that quote? Was it when he has 6tds and 7 INTS?

Suddenly they pull back on the offense and Tanny does better. A lot better. When asked why, Weddle who I'm assuming watched a lot of film on Tanny knows why. He's not Rivers. He's not Peyton. So they pulled back and now he doesn't have to think as much and the team with Ajayi running was winning and they were having success.

When asked about it, at a later date in time then the quotes you guys keep hanging on to. After having MORE information at their disposal, Gase admits Weddle was right, that he was a smart guy. Then he gives the reasons why they did it. Says "it's a lot on a QBs plate."

And you're still sitting here arguing it isn't. This is delusional. Gase didn't object to one thing that came out of Weddle's mouth. Confirms it. And said it was a lot on the QBs plate. And they removed it. It's no longer there.

It's a lot on a QBs plate. But it's no longer on the plate.

Not sure what you think I'm making up

It was Philbin's decision to start Tannehill over Moore. But since he was fired for lack of offensive production and generally having no grasp on this team (AKA Bullygate, bad trades, etc.), it's hard to automatically say he made the right call.

Now remember, this was the same guy who traded away Vontae Davis, Brandon Marshall, Reggie Bush, Karlos Dansby, Ritchie Incognito, and more when we didn't have the actual depth to replace these folks. Are you really trying to say that he was the best evaluator of talent?

I mean, he thought Billy Turner was a better option than Incognito...come on. Our opponents didn't sack Tannehill those first few years- Philbin did.

You can't have it both ways- either Philbin could evaluate talent or he couldn't. Him being an idiot is not a knock on Matt Moore at all.

Again, you ignore the effect that other players not knowing the offense would have on Tannehill. We have had many discussions aground receivers running wrong routes, leading to incompletions and interceptions. Factor in that Gase specifically mentions the receivers next, it is certainly more than reasonable to think that the receivers were making mistakes, and having Tannehill deal with getting the correct play called AND putting other guys in position presnap was more than Gase wanted on his plate.

The thing is, I'm not saying that my scenario is the absolute correct one. You, however, are acting like your interpretation is the only right one, and are acting like anyone who thinks differently is crazy. I guess it's merely coincidence that you always come at these things with the idea that Tannehill is always the one at fault.

Just because the quotes to Weddle came after the quotes I was referring to does not mean it's an indictment of Tannehill. That is your opinion, and it's been an anti-Tannehill opinion for as long as I can remember.

Yes, I'm literally saying I trust coaches in the NFL and their judgement on most things over people like you, specifically. Even someone as clueless as Philbin.

They are where they are and you are where you are. Be it nepotism, luck, whatever the case is. No one in the NFL thinks or thought, at any point, highly enough of Moore to make him a full blown starter for an NFL team. You can make any excuse you want for him. He had numerous chances.
