    According to an unnamed source.

Article states that Williams was a healthy scratch last game, citing Gase, and that it's possible he will be next week, too.

There were articles last week where (unnamed) people in the front office admitted that Mario was an expensive miss. For people to openly admit that while the season is still going was a bit of a surprise, but also refreshing. At least Mike T. and Co. can admit to making a mistake and being somewhat transparent about it.

Mario Williams is done. His body is breaking down and mentally, he checked out a couple of years ago. No ill will from me, I think he tried to re-capture his fire for the game, but it isn't there any longer.

    Time to move on.

Remember when it was him and Reggie Bush gong #1 and #2 in the draft.

I guess they had some very good years and their careers have lasted longer than most players. But both had a very embarrassing 2016.

Writing was on the wall. He got PAID for his 1.5 sacks, though.

Gase said that it wasn't really Mario's fault he wasn't active last game, it's just that Fede earned time and also had added value on STs.

That's complete bull**** to post that now when there's still football to be played.

If he's not cutting it then drop him today and get a practice squad player active on the roster. It's ridiculous to hang onto a guy that you know won't take the field though.

Eh gase will handle it professionally. These unnamed sources is probably no one, and just a stupid beat writer trying to get breaking news out of hypotheticals to be first.

Everyone knows hes getting cut, but i doubt armando got a source on it

Unless this was leaked to spur him, or they don't want another team bringing him in to pump him on schemes and plays...

And he can still be part of a rotation to give other's a breather. He'll be out the door soon enough.

I don't know who the source was, but the article where this was revealed, was on Mike Tannenbaum, so my assumption is it came from his camp, if not himself, directly.

It has been pretty clear for awhile that he hasn't been cutting it. I think he flashed in two games this year, and the remainder of time has been lingering issues and seemingly, uninspired play when he did get on the field. If they were to cut him, they either should have done it earlier in the season, or wait until they finish playing games. Right now, is sort of no man's land.

Cutting him now probably does no good, since a practice squad player probably doesn't find the field themselves. I also think it would cause a distraction for a team, heading into the biggest game in a decade. I think it makes sense to let him go whenever the season ends and utilize whatever savings we get from his contract to help re-sign Kenny Stills or Andre Branch or whoever. We are lucky that Andre Branch outperformed his contract to help offset Mario's lack of production.

It was a good gamble that didn't work out. It doesn't hurt us next year so no pain. Tannenbaum needs to keep making these types of pickups. You will hit on half

OV didn't exactly light the world on fire with us, although he is balling for the G-Men. So I thought it was a good risk to sign Mario I think he wanted to play but now he is just at that point where he can't admit he is finished. He wasted his last few years with Barfalo.

    It was an awful signing.

The guy flat-out quit on his last team, you can't turn around and act surprised when he half-asses it here. The guy was only ever in it for the paycheck and the team should have seen it coming.

Cutting him now cost $2m more against the salary cap than keeping him. In the 2017 league year, cutting him saves $8.5m vs. the cap.

Phins need to get way younger at DE anyways. I think Cam Wake will be alright for awhile, James Harrison is still playing at 38. He's been at least steady for the Steelers. The opposite side looks not so good though. Branch playing well in a contract year but does he really represent the type of dynamism you want at one of your premier defensive spots? In my opinion, it's a definite first-round priority along with one of Zach Cunningham or Reuben Foster.

I didn't think about the bolded part, so you're probably right...let him ride the bench.

I thought he looked really good early on (while the rest of the team was sucking), so it stinks that age has caught up to him. I doubt he bounces to yet another team after being unimpressive in two different systems with two different teams. Hopefully he just retires.

I think retirement is probably best for him. But the guy is only 31/32...he may try to hang on and get a few more years at an extremely discounted rate, just because.
