Dungeons save state only for a while. Eventually they respawn. I completed Costlemark in the mid-50s, but it was a huge pain in the butt. The ending involves a block puzzle section where you have to go through four different sections AND find the correct path (hint: when you get the option, go east, not south) and fight multiple Red Giants in the process.

Yeah, i got through 3/4 of all of that, and was out of healing items and spells, so i had to get out. Thought id have to start over, but it seems not.

Eat the Lasagna Al Forno before you go in. Gives you elemental immunity and takes care of the annoying Thunder Bombs.

Could never get into the Kingdom Hearts games. But I am interested in FF7 remake. I don't think that game's story actually held up particularly well. I replayed it recently and forgot how bad some of it us. Wonder how different it'll be.

Ive never played KH either, but my wife did before we had kids, so ive seen a lot of it. With 7, im thinking that the originals are going to be used as a strong outline, but a lot of the details will be updated, given its been 20 years, and tech, culture, and society are all evolved. And im cool with that.

I got to the Tarzan part of Kingdom Hearts before just giving up. The swinging vines and awful platforming killed it for me. Then I tried the KH HD remake, got to the Hercules part, and gave up again. I just can't play this stupid game. It's sad, because it looks like a pretty fun little series.

Oh, right, Final Fantasy. Square-Enix would be utterly stupid to not release FF7R this year. This is FF's 30th anniversary and FF7's 20th anniversary.

    New batch of rumors:

Episode Prompto DLC has a Niflheim map, and thus will make Niflheim explorable.
The DLCs will supposedly have multiple endings or alterations to the ending depending on actions during the DLC. (Supposedly confirmed, but I can't read Japanese.)
Custom avatars are supposedly confirmed, you'll be able to play as a created character.
    They may add time-limited hunts.
The Comrades DLC may let you travel with the secondary characters.

I'm hopeful and excited about all of the DLC. I'm going to just wait for all of it to be released, get the whole batch, and start the game over at that point, which I'm presuming will be some point in 2018.

July 11 is just fine with me. Though this may signal that the rumors that FF7R won't happen this year could be true.

I figured that a year end release was a bedt case scenario already. That would be about six months later than 12, so maybe. But i think 2018 is the most likely.

Episode Gladiolus is out on March 28. Episode Prompto is out in June.

Curious that Prompto seems to be releasing before Ignis.

That does seem an odd choice. Perhaps that have something really big in the works for Ignis and it will take longer. Either way, I'm waiting for all of it to be out before I play again regardless.

All I can think of is that something really damn big and important happens in Ignis' scenario. Hopefully.

So, two months later than promised, the PS4 Pro performance patch is on the way. Releases February 21. The level cap gets raised to 120, there will be time-limited quests, the picture storage limit will be bumped to 200, you can use the music player while riding chocobos, and the PS4 Pro version will run at 60 FPS "most of the time."

And they're now starting to talk about a PC version with additional enhancements. So that'll probably be a thing in 2018.

So, can someone explain what "limited time quests" are? If you're playing offline after you download the update, does a clock start ticking the next time that you load the game up? Its a new and confusing subject for me.

When you accept a time limited quest, you have a limited amount of in game time within which to complete the quest. You can't leave it in your quest queue forever, or it expires.

Episode Ignus will be the final of the three companion DLC released because it will be the biggest and most involved. They want to get it right, so thats cool.

They also apparently made back all of their development costs the day that the game was released and are well into being profitable now, which you would think bodes well for more FF games to be produced in the future. They got a lot right with this, but there are also obviously a lot of areas where they lag behind other major RPGs, so this will be a chance to grow.

A long, really detailed look back at one of my favorite video games of all time, FFVI (3). I haven't played any of the re-releases, just the original SNES version, but it was an amazing game in its day that did so many things no other game had up to that point. I still compare other games to it to this day, and its had a lasting effect on my actual life in some ways. Also, the most expensive video game I ever purchased, back in the days before controlled/set pricing limits, I paid like $85 for it at a place in my local mall.

As much as I'm looking forward to the remaster of FF12, and as exciting the reboot of FF7 is, a ground up remake of this game would be the most amazing game of all time. They could seriously get three or four great games out of it, spread over 6-8 years, and make an enormous amount of money.

While I think the old guys like us would love it. I honestly don't think the amount of money it costs to do a full remake would be worth it for FF6.They did the remade sprites already (which most of the older crowd dislikes). And and as good as that story (especially that soundtrack) is, the 15-25 year olds of the world won't give two poops about reading endless dialog boxes. I know JRPGs are still a thing that sells well. But they're all heading towards Action-RPG because these damn kids don't want to do battle via a menu. Even Bravely Default (which I think was amazing)... The 2nd one (also pretty awesome) was catered to old school like us. The market has just moved on to faster more action oriented crap.

Well, my thought was a full fledged, ground up remake, fully voiced, and semi open world. Use the outline of the original, and use the script as a starting point, but beef it up, flesh it out, and make it even more awesome. The different acts of the story could all be their own games.

The complaint was not that the sprites were remade, but how they were remade.

Digital Foundry says it's a crap shoot. Never hits 60 unless you're staring at the floor.

Its good that they keep adding content, little by little. Following the CDPR template. Hopefully, we see more of that from other studios.

Yeah, if this is what they had in mind for PS4 Pro support, either the Pro is still underpowered for a current gen console (Xbox Scorpio may prove that to be true) or the game is just too ambitious and needs to go on PC ASAP.

Starting to feel like the retail release was just a public beta test for a game to be launched in 2018.

If there is so much more content that its almost a new game in 2018, then I'm cool with that. Kinda like FF 15.5, or something like that.

If the DLC adds a lot of story content, then it basically will be 15.5. Honestly, if the story was told more clearly and coherently, the game would be excellent as-is.

The final mystery DLC is the World of Versus, occurring during the spoilery section after chapter 13.

After waiting 10 years for this game, getting a ps3 and then a ps4 in hopes to play this game, I have finally completed this game. All in all it was worth the wait. It has been a while since I got emotionally into a game. The characters were likable and I enjoyed just doing the sidequests. The Leviathan fight along with its musical score alone made the long wait worth it.

The english voice acting (particularly Ardyn, Ignis and Gladious) was outstanding. Ardyn was a well made character and his voice actor was perfect. The gameplay, despite the camera angle issues, was simply awesome, coming from someone who loves JRPGs. The wait timer is a nice alternate. The fighting gameplay was fun. The soundtrack was epic.... EPIC, as I expected when I first saw the original trailer of "Versus". The ending of the game was classic Square.

The new title screen after you beat the game is a nice touch.

I wish some of the earlier gameplay scenes in the earlier (2011) trailers would have stayed such as the "running over moving houses" and the part on top floor of the building in the Crown City with the shattering windows. I also wish that they used Omnis Lacrima better than just large random monsters. I mean they used it in the trailers for crying out loud.

Despite the flaws that have been discussed ad nauseum here, I still find this a special game. I bought the season pass so I am looking forward to future stuff.

Square will have two pannels at PAX East in Boston, on March 10th and 12th. The first one is specifically to talk about the FF12 remaster, and the second to cover both FF15 and their other new game Neir. I bet we'll get a few new pieces of info then.

Agreed. I bumped this game up an entire point just because of Ardyn.

I thought that Ardyn was a good idea, but was poorly fleshed out and realized. I needed A LOT more detail and back story, but that was the case with a much the game as well.

Ardyn's the most well developed character in the game, IMO. And I'm not grading that on a curve. He gets more screentime than anyone not in the main party and we know more about him than anyone, even Noctis. They had to outsource the party's character development and background to Brotherhood.
