No he wasn't. He didn't start until Foster was inevitably injured for the millionth time. I don't care that we fell behind. You don't rush 6 or 7 times in the whole game. Ever since we had Miller in (what was it?) 2014 or 2015, we were undefeated when he had 20+ rushing attempts.

The facts aren't backing you up again. Foster started until he was hurt. Ajayi didn't get enough attempts until he had a monstrous performance that forced Gase to feed him. That's it. Nobody in their right mind can look back at that and say Gase made the right call.

Ajayi had more carries than any other back in every game except the 1st.

I already broke down the problems week by week until we got our second win. You just want to be right about a minor detail when I just misspoke about going 1-4 with Foster.

Gase was forced to start Ajayi after Foster had a groin injury in the first half of week 2. Even then Ajayi only had two more carries.

Then for two more games, Ajayi had 6, then 7 rushes ALL GAME. That's RIDICULOUS. Then he had only 13 the following week. It wasn't until he rushed for over 200 yards when Gase was forced to feed him. If you think Gase knew exactly what he was doing, you're delusional.

A new coach, when faced with an insubordinate 2nd year player, who really didn't get a chance to see this player do anything in his first season, has two options:

    Cut him
    Bench him

I mean, why would you reward a player for not giving it their all?

Gase knew exactly what he was doing. You're just biased.

Insubordinate? I just heard Vance Joseph on NFL Network say Ajayi had a bad week and Gase made the tough call to go with Foster and a couple of backup linemen. So which is it?

Gase, in choosing between an underachieving (basically) rookie, Ajayi, or one of the best backs in the league prior to getting hurt, Foster , chose the latter.

Ajayi threw a tantrum and got benched.

After that benching, Ajayi felt the heat and started producing.

    Gase did the correct thing.

I'm not going to continue arguing with you in this back and forth. I never wanted Foster. He's always been injury prone. Ajayi seemed like he earned more YAC than Miller, plus he's younger.

They all make mistakes and I'm not even saying this was one, but learning from the mistakes and making the corrections and adjustments, is what separates the good ones from the bad. Looks like a pretty good start.

And you didn't want Gase and you didn't want Tannehill... and you love Matt Moore. Everyone you attack is someone you're openly biased against.

You're also overlooking the OL problems we had at the start of the season and how that affected the offense in both passing and rushing. Pouncey, Albert, Tunsil, and Steen were in and out of the lineup most the first 6 games. Additionally, Cameron was lost to a concussion. Stills was fighting a calf, Parker a hammy, and Landry a shoulder. All that affects the offense choreography. Doesn't mean was a bad coach due to you not liking some of his decisions.

I don't love Moore. I like him more than Tannehill for the money. I wanted Kuechly, not Tannehill. I didn't want Gase, I wanted Vic Fangio. I'm sure others have plenty of things they wish the organization did.

Okay, fair point about the OL. Cameron isn't important and shouldn't be back. Another injury prone skill player. Gase is the head coach. Everything falls on him when decision don't go well. Who else should I blame? I hope he learns from his mistakes, he was a rookie, after all.

I think Matt Burke will be a good defensive coordinator for us. He won't be changing too much. That's good for the players. He's planning to fit the scheme to his players. That makes me wonder of Kiko Alonso and whether he moves to the outside or maybe staying inside. Plus he will be aggressive which is something I like. Hopefully he solves the run stopping issue and constantly bring pressure and hits on the quarterback.

love these broad, stupid generalizations, with that kind of logic I can make similar arguments:
    - Pete Carroll is a crappy coach, he can thank his defense and Russell Wilson for carrying that team to the playoffs
    - Jason Garrett is a crappy coach, he can thank Dak and Ezekiel for carrying that offense to the playoffs

We all acknowledge that Gase waited too long to start Ajayi. But you completely ignores the fact that Gase is a brand new HC and is going to make mistakes. The difference between a good coach (or any manager in any business) is whether he learns from his mistakes. Only a stubborn *** puts all the blame for starting 1-4 on the HC and then gives zero credit for a remarkable streak of winning 9 out of 10 games.

Pete Carroll starts the right players. He went with Russell Wilson after the front office spent money on Matt Flynn. That's ballsy. Paying Tannehill 10 times the amount you do Matt Moore when the latter had better stats, that's a different kind of ballsy.

Jason Garrett IS a crappy coach. That defense just isn't good and hasn't been for a while. He's lucky they drafted three All Pro First Team offensive linemen and Ezekiel Elliot, also First Team All Pro. How many wins did they get without Romo last year? Zero? Even the Browns won a game this year.

Actually one of my latest posts is that I hope he learns because he is a rookie after all. He wouldn't have had that 9-1 streak if it wasn't for Ajayi. The guy had four 200+ yard rushing games. I believe he was the leading rusher from week 6 and on. And the idiot didn't even start him.

Wilson crushed Flynn in training camp and pre-season. It was a no brainer. Besides, Flynn's contract was something like $10 mil guaranteed. Nothing back breaking.

Garrett is a crappy coach? lol...OK..

Cassell went 1-6 last year with the Cowboys. Romo went 3-1. They were just a bad team

Ajayi had 3 200 yard games and showed none of his fire in the preseason and threw a temper tantrum. Gase knew the skill was there or he would have cut or traded him. Instead, he did what a good coach does and motivated Ajayi.

But starting Ryan Tannehill over Matt Moore in 2012 wasn't "ballsy", it was... ??? Lol...

You're forgetting that Philbin brought in David Garrard to be the starting QB in 2012 and he injured himself and was lost. Tannehill was supposed to sit out 2012. Instead he was best QB we had in training camp. Moore couldn't beat him out. And before the 3 member Matt Moore Homer club pipes in - yeah, yeah, I know... Moore isn't a "good practice QB", he's a "gamer". I heard it already.

And Matt Moore does not have better stats. That's your projection based on a small sample size and largely against the 4 win jets team that was missing part of it's secondary and was more focused on selling out to stop Ajayi from putting up 200 yards on them. Moore's history says he couldn't repeat that performance if he had too.

Now, you're faulting Gase for not being clairvoyant in the pre-season and he's an "idiot", he should've just known Ajayi, a 5th round pick, who did nothing of note previously and who fumbled in his last PS game, was going to have those monster games in him.

Perhaps you should step back and rethink some of your positions, yes?

I remember Garrard, don't speak for me. He slipped by the pool or something and got injured. I'm sure starting Tannehill had nothing to do with Ross wanting to draw interest from fans like they've done with Suh and Wallace, always trying to make a splash.

You're wrong. Moore had better stats without Pouncey or as many monster running games. You can point to the sample size but it's all we've got, so you can't discount it entirely. I felt like Moore should've been given a chance in 2012 and we reached for Tannehill.

Well, great coaches see things in players who haven't accumulated any noteworthy accomplishments. There's a guy called Belichick that does it all the time. You don't even have to go to that extreme. What about Andy Reid? A few of Pete Carroll's stars are 3rd rounders and below. Every fan I know personally wanted Ajayi to start over Foster from the beginning. It wasn't some sort of long shot thing.

Moore did get a chance in 2012.

He lost. Just like he's lost with every other team and season. At one point he lost out playing time to Vinny Testaverde when Vinny was 44 years old. lol

Matt Moore is a career back up for a reason. Tannehill is much better at reading defenses than Matt Moore who sorta just wings it up without consistently paying attention to details like WR progressions based on coverage reads. If you are unable to notice this, then you are lacking basic football knowledge.

Ok, but now you're speaking for Ross? Lol...

Go back and watch HK. Tannehill was easily the best QB on the roster as a rookie and he showed a ton of promise behind a garbage OL and with a poor surrounding cast of backs and receivers.

Please list these stats you're referring to. Board statisticians, CBrad and Pauly already blew this up, but what are you referring to specifically?

Again, you're interjecting your open bias into your argument. It doesn't matter if you felt Moore should've been given a chance in 2012 and that Tannehill was a reach. Tannehill was the pick and he beat out Moore in camp. He was clearly the best QB, even if he did have an advantage with knowing the offense. He was more athletic and had the better arm. He still does.

Great coaches are also great motivators, yes? Wouldn't you agree that Ajayi was more motivated after being humiliated and benched? I also wanted Ajayi to start over Foster, but I understood why he was sat due to the fumbles and the attitude. I liked Gase's decision there.

And regardless, we didn't lose to Seattle due to Ajayi and Foster. Stills dropped a 70 yard bomb and Franks missed a FG. Either one won that game. The other losses came during the OL and DL struggles early on before the team gelled and knew their assignments in the new schemes.

He starts the right players because he has a boatload of experience as a head coach.
You lose all your credibility when your willing to go with Matt Moore over Tannehill just because he is cheaper.

Yes, because there's a pattern to speak of. He's always trying to make a splash and sign big free agents and reach for Tannehill and bring in Marino.

Passer rating. Higher without Pouncey or as many monster rushing games.

I don't trust Tannehill beat Moore in camp, private practices or in the QB room, or watching film. I honestly believe they had the full intention of starting him ASAP when they brought in Philbin and Sherman. They figured if Garrard got hurt, why give Moore a chance to do well if they could buy time with a rookie?

You're willing to believe Gase used benching as a tool to motivate Ajayi. Here's why I won't believe that. He barely gave any opportunities to Ajayi even after Foster was injured and kept losing until they were 1-4. That doesn't sound like tough love, that sounds like somebody who didn't know what they were missing out on.

Well, Vinny had a better TD%, INT%, YPG, and Sack%. Moore had a higher Y/A.

Point is, MM hasn't been able to beat out anybody during 9 years and with 3 different teams. Your conspiracy theories about why he's never been the starter here just doesn't hold water. Unless you think all three teams and multiple coaching staffs are out to get MM? haha

I had to look it up, it sounded so ridiculous. The Panthers had like 4 QBs that year. Delhomme, Carr, Moore and Tesaverde. Testaverde had more attempts because Moore was a rookie backup. Moore also earned NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for December that season in '07. Even in preseason with the Cowboys he had a 100.1 QBR. He's always showed flashes.

And....? This has nothing to do with getting beaten out by a 44 yr old QB...or any of the many other QB's he's been beaten out by.

    And preseason, really?

You are absolutely clueless if you don't believe that was a motivational move by Gase. Gase knew what he had in Ajayi from the start. Or did you miss when Adam praised him during mini camp and told Ajayi that the starting job was his to lose?? Guess what, Ajayi lost it and even admitted himself that he wasn't being as detail oriented as necessary to keep it.

You're assuming he got beaten out. Do you just trust every coach's decision all the time? Don't question starting Foster over Ajayi. Don't question two old time buddies starting a rookie to buy time for them to lose initially.

Or do you just not question decisions when you're in an argument? Do you really think Testaverde should've been given more snaps at 44 years old than a rookie who showed promise? Do you really think Foster, the glass RB, should've started over Ajayi?

Look, some people just aren't going to see eye to eye on anything. I gave my reasons for why I don't like Gase or his ability to make sound decisions. I don't trust him with the DC decision either. Leave it at that.

Nope. No assuming. He was beaten out in Dallas and he was beaten out in Carolina.

    Testaverde won the job.

You've been given many reasons many times as to why Foster was starting over Ajayi.

    Conspiracy theories don't constitute reason.
