so when will Miami cut the excess fat in Jordan, Misi, Maxwell and IAQ? I also was thinking, Miami has a ton of holes to fill, and if they are not semi-agressive in free agency, the financial decision could cause a step back to make a step forward. Are fans patient enough?
Maxwell and IAQ have been in Miami a year, and already they are "excess fat". So are fans patient enough?
IAQ's injury is more serious that was originally thought/let on. He will not be cut, as he was injured on the field. If its determined that he cannot play again, he may be let go with an injury settlement, but I wouldn't expect a lot of cap relief. That all being said, he was a fine player for us last season when he was healthy, and wouldn't have been a cap casualty anyways. Jordan's contract is apparently complicated due to his suspensions. No one can seem to agree as to what his cap number actually is, or how much we would save by letting him go. I'm personally all in favor of moving on regardless. I think that Misi, who himself was injured last season and may not be healthy yet, is around due to how horrible our LB unit is. We may end up having to depend on him yet again if we cannot bring in better replacements. We need almost a whole new LB unit aside from Alonso.
We need two DEs, new LB unit, two guards and a corner and safety. Thats just starters. Our depth is bad too. i dont see us not spending Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
you dont understand, landry wants to maximize our available dollars to sign young studs like revis, manziel, and nick mangled.
Trade for Suggs and JPP. Get Patrick Willis out of retirement. Sign Revis and coax Ed Reed out of retirement. Sign Mangold and put him at guard. And sign Adrian Peterson for the hell of it. -Dirtylandry's offseason plan
yes but the core is young. we dont need old players blocking development chasing money, thats not how good teams do it.
A lot of cap money is going to be spent on Landry and hopefully Branch. He was good for us last year. Hopefully we can get those deals done. I think we should draft and sign the best guard and best LB we can get. A FA is usually 26 or 27...we need to decide if Kiko is staying get at MLB or moving to WLB. If we signed Larry Warford, G, Detroit and LB Z. Brown, drafted J. Davis, Carlos Watkins (DT, Clemson), and maybe Dion Dawkins...along with resigning our own guys would be a good off season, IMO. A mix of young and older talent and not breaking the bank. Also, don't sleep on L. Pitts, through CB we signed last year. This team has been lacking in talent for years. It's going to take time...last year was a step forward...that should be our goal this year...improve on last year's performance.
^^^ This 100%. A mixture of FA signings and draft picks across the areas of key need (eg. OG, DE and LB).
There is no core on D at all, and if there is one it's old, we have 5 DL under contract, lol, starters and depth needed at LB and in the secondary, the defense is beyond thin.
Currently we have around the 3rd youngest team in the NFL. Our defense is ranked around 11th. Our "core", IMO: Wake- 35---(Old) Suh- 30---(latter end of prime) Jones- 29---(Prime) Rambo-26---(Prime) Howard-23---(Prime) Lippett- 24---(Prime) Maxwell- 29---(Prime) Kiko-26---(Prime) Phillips- 24---(Prime) McCain- 23---(Prime) Branch- 27---(Prime) To claim there is no core is just not true. Now, a person may not like any one of these players, and there will most definitely be changes to this core, but every team as a core of players. (Also, I believe we currently have 8 DL under contract.)
We have our starting DL under contract now, which is great. That includes two pro bowlers in Wake and Suh, a solid vet in Branch, and a promising young player in Phillips. Essentially, this is our DL for 2017 & 18. But, we have close to zero depth behind them. We need to, and likely will, draft multiple DE and DT each of the next two years to fill the void, and hopefully take over when several of those guys move on.
"We need two DEs, new LB unit, two guards and a corner and safety. Thats just starters. Our depth is bad too. i dont see us not spending" Unless we're just playing for 2018 and we really don't even try to compete this year. However, buying Kenny Stills would suggest otherwise, and the Leonte Carroo pick just looks F'ing AWFUL right now.
The Carroo trade will be judged this year...if isn't better than the third round WRs then it will be a bad trade. If we were to sign TJ Lang and draft Forrest Lamp in the first round, and they can manage to stay healthy... our OL should be much better. Steen should be better with his experience, if he's needed. If we're able to sign a Gerald Hodges and draft Kendall Beckwith, our LBS should be better. If RJ stays healthy, even if it's him and Michael Thomas, slight upgrade at S. It's not perfect, but not necessarily dire.
What ever happened to that impending release of Tannehill I heard so much about from a certain poster in this thread ? Did I miss it ? We need to tear up that terrible contract and use that $ to fill all those holes at WLB and RG ! No Core, Sad! Well maybe there's a core, but it's old.... Suh an Wake are old so, yeah.... We got nothing.
