The Dolphins have signed all their 2017 draft picks. First-round defensive end Charles Harris became the final member of the draft class to agree to terms on a contract with the team on Wednesday. Like all first-round picks, Harris’ deal is for four years with a team option for a fifth season. Harris was the 22nd overall pick last month after wrapping up a career at Missouri that saw him rack up 34.5 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks. That pass rushing prowess made him a popular mock draft choice for the Dolphins before they made him their actual pick in Philadelphia. Harris will join Cameron Wake, William Hayes and Andre Branch at defensive end for the Dolphins and seems like a good bet for a role as a rotational pass rusher at the very least during his rookie season.
''Im going to follow him wherever he goes, when he wakes up and to the gym everyday, if he lets me'' Harris on Wake
It is so awesome to get these guys all wrapped up in May, and not be sweating it out in July like we used to. I would stress out so badly over that before the current CBA.
I'll bet he outlasts Shelby. Shelby said something similar, but only lasted a couple weeks, if that, he was like "I can't keep up with him", but Harris is more of a workout warrior. I'll be impressed if he can hang with Wake all through TC, Wake is at the highest level of working out, like Shaolin level. If Harris lasts more than 2 weeks we should start calling him Grasshopper, but then should we start calling Wake Master Po? RUN! RUN! RUN! RUN!
I agree they cheat. but other teams make huge mistakes when playing them on their own because Pats play clean football.
the cheating argument is old now. Brady was suspended last year four games and just made teams look silly and won the super bowl. Bigger picture is that Belichick and Brady are the best - period. Miami will have to have a herculean effort to beat them and will involve elite qb play and a stout run defense, along with solid line play. are we up for the challenge and did we address those needs in the offseason? if we ahven't built a team to beat NE, then it will be a disappointment. It's Division or Bust
A whole lot of bull**** spouted there with literally nothing to debunk or explain away the cheating. Just more hero worship drivel spewed by a typical Pats sycophant. The argument isn't old. It's proven right every time they win.
Every QB who played for them last season made teams look silly. That's the point. Belichick and Brady may or may not be the best. I'm in the "may not" category because they are proven cheaters.
Harping on the cheating gets us no where. Miami had no shot against those teams anyway snce 2001 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's not going to change anything, but it's good to tell the truth about the Pats. Hyping them up like they are the best ever when that's not true isn't helping anything either. I've lived through a lot of football dynasties. Some as great as this Pats dynasty. However, none were ever accused of what these Pats have been both accused and found guilty of. They are cheaters and I won't give them the benefit of the doubt.
I love the signing. Seemed like a given but who knows. Love the entire absence of drama surrounding the team save Landry getting his deal done yet. I dig the focus. So far we're checking all the boxes winners check at this early point. Keep it up Phins!
And you'd think that team was the Pats with the way so many people **** on our team and players but felate the cheating bastards up north.
I am impressed how almost every thread turns into a Tannehill conversation or a Patriots cheating conversation.
One step at a time, man. Right now, we need to go from "above average" to "good". Once we're a secure, comfortable playoff team, then we can focus on getting from there to being elite.
In 9 out of Brady's first 18 playoff games, including Super Bowls, he failed to have a passer rating in the 80's. All 79 and below. And yet they won 14 of those games. 5 in which he had a passer rating below 80. The Pats were "elite" because they cheated and their defense was elite (because they cheated...lol)
I agree, kind of. I think if the defense struggles we need him to be better than good. Been reading some stuff on Julius Thomas. If he turns out to be someone that needed a fresh start, then the stats will come for RT, the drives sustained and the points scored.
That sentence is a little confusing. Are you saying that Patriots are 5-4 in games where Brady had a passer rating under 80?
Just to put this in some perspective.. league average passer rating from 2001-2009 (the period you mention) was between 76.6 and 81.2 so getting a passer rating below 80 in the regular season wasn't unusual, and it's harder to get the same rating in the playoffs. In any case, looking at Brady's entire playoff record he had a passer rating better than league average in 22 of 34 playoff games while they won 25 of 34 games. 3 games difference isn't negligible (win% goes from 64.7% to 73.5%) but it's not that big a difference.
As much as we all hate Goodell, at least the rookie salary cap came to be under his watch. I truly think the NFL would have been done by 2020 if teams had to continue the old trajectory. There is some structure to rookie contracts and that makes it much easier to get deals done. Bosa'sses of the world are the exception rather than the rule now. Good thing!
It was poorly written..lol...But yes, in the postseason, from 2001-2009, the Pats were 5-4 when Brady had a passer rating under 80. Peyton Manning, in his first 18 postseason games, had a passer rating under 80 seven times. The Colts were 3-4 in those games. In comparison Peyton Manning had 13 of his first 18 postseason games where he posted a passer rating of 90 or less. The Colts were 4-9 in those games. Brady posted a 90 or less passer rating 11 out of his first 18 games. The Pats record was 7-4.
I think that any thoughts of the NFL being "done" in the near future are way overblown, but they absolutely needed to reign in the salaries and cap hits of guys who weren't yet proven to be good NFL players. You simply cannot have a guy who is a total bust being one of the highest paid players in the league.
