Heat are 2nd in the NBA in wins in the last 22 years. If you are engaging in Tankzzzzzz talk as a heat fan, you have been rooting for the wrong team all this time.

It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out, but I am not sure I see how CP and Harden fit together. Maybe it's just me. And if they give CP the supermax, you are saddled with his contract for 5 years. Not sure I like this trade.

I don't know why you're going nuts over one post out of hundred on the Heat.

I'm not advocating anything. I'm just saying that it's possible we'll regret spending huge sums on JJ/Waiters

It's true you can usually dump a bad contract, but that doesn't make them assets. We've been trying to trade McBob for 3 years.

I guess I am pretty dumb then. I almost want to roll with the team from last year. They were so fun to watch. I'll take Hayward or Blake though.

Obviously not. But you're going to have to commit at least $60 million to them combined over the life of the contracts.

I'm just saying its a lot for two guys who have bounced around and never found consistency

I don't think there's going to be much of a market for either one of those guys. Waiters missed half the season with injuries and has been a head case his entire career, JJ is 30 years old.

Dan Gilbert went to the Trump White House with the Chicago Cubs - meanwhile the Cavs don't have a GM in the last offseason before LeBron is a free agent and Gilbert is trying to coerce the city into paying for huge stadium renovations.

If he were trying to get Cleveland to hate him would it look much different than this?

It will be nearly impossible to do that unless they trade some players. You're talking a min of $20M for those two alone, probably more.

As for tanking, it's not going to happen. If they were going to tank, this past year was their shot and they decided against it. Like Section said, that's the way they operate and we can't really be mad at that. That's why they are the franchise they are and why they've had so much success.

Do you think these scenarios are likely? Do you think they'd be able to convince Gay to take the exception on a prove it deal in addition to that? That combination would be a hell of an offseason?

    I'm not completely against Melo.

If we traded TJ for him (we don't need to match), we could theoretically open close to $55 million in space in 2018, presuming Melo opts out.

That's a pretty good hedge if we can't get Hayward or Griffin. We still arguably improve this years team while gaining flexibility going forward

Hayward meeting Heat Saturday, Jazz Monday.

Celtics TBD but everyone is presuming Sunday

SLC papers reporting he wants to make a decision quickly, so hopefully we'll know by the 4th of July.

Some other reports that he is visiting the teams so hope for good weather and that we don't let him leave

Either Hayward or Griffin would be good fits I think because Spo loves his pick offence.

I think Spo could call specific plays for Hayward like putting him in motion off double screen plays and let him play in space with the ball.

With Griffin (and with Bam for that matter) he could set some really good screens and roll to the paint. If the guard switches on him Dragic can just lob the ball up. Bam can add another dimension with some outside shooting.

I know Russell Westbrook is expected to head to LA next year, but the Lakers just drafted Lonzo and I doubt he would want to play for the clippers.

I hope there's a way to get him in a heat jersey next year. I love Dragic, but Westbrook is Westbrook.

A few fun notes about today (Knicks related....mostly)

    - Supposedly Cp3 went to LAC and said he was going to Houston. Supposedly at odds with Doc Rivers over Rivers refusal to include his son in a trade for Carmelo. LAC did Paul a solid picking up the option year so they could get tradeable/useful assets back

    - The Knicks are looking at Masai Ujiri and David Griffin. Personally, I want neither. Ujiri, outside of fleecing the Knicks twice (once for Anthony, the other for Bargnani) hasn't been impressive. Griffin, was also mediocre. I'd rather promote Clearance Gaines who has done a great job as director of scouting to GM and move Steve Mills to President. Also, it seems that the Knicks would be giving up a first round pick to lure Ujiri away....pass.
Report: Knicks 'confident' they can lure Raps exec Masai Ujiri (via http://thesco.re/theScore_App )
    https://www.thescore.com/news/1326164

    - It was floated by Bleacher Report (maybe others too) that the Knicks would have gone with Dennis Smith over Frank Ntilikina. Thank goodness, this happened post draft as Phil and Gaines did a fine job drafting.

    - Whatever the Knicks do, do not release Anthony. Especially if you're going to move a draft pick for Ujiri, you'll need to get a high pick or picks back.

Let's end with the fun stuff:

I stopped reading after "mostly Knicks related" :tongue2:

    Kidding.

If the stuff about Austin and Doc Rivers is true (and it seems to have real legs considering what Glenn Davis said a little while back), not only is Doc every bit as awful as I've suspected for some time, he also saved the Knicks on what would have been a terrible trade by Jackson. Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford? Yikes. Not only are those players pretty bad (Crawford was good, but he's now 37), but you're talking about almost $40M over the next two seasons for those guys.

Thinking about it, Boston doesnt have much chance at landing gordon hayward. They will have to explain to him how they plan to give him minutes with the depth they have.

It will be down to Miami and Utah and I think Utah will offer him something ridiculous like the Mike Conley contract and he will stay with the Jazz.

I fully expect Blake to re-sign, again itll come down to us or LA and he will choose LA after Doc desperately gives him a contract similar to Anthony Davis, especially after being forced to trade CP3 he has to redeem himself and not lose blake for nothing.

I expect Kyle Lowry to sign with the Spurs.

We in Ny have seen Jamal Chuckford before and hes best served as a 6th man. When hes bad...he is useless and he doesnt know when to stop shooting lol. I agree that deal would have been atrocious for NYK for Melo.

A little more i found...it seems Ujiri to the Knicks has been in the works for a while now. Interesting http://teamstre.am/2tnarVb

Utah is going to offer him the max, and so will any team after his services. That's the most teams can offer, and that's what it's going to take for anyone to get him. Technically the Jazz can offer him more because the CBA lets them give him an extra year and slightly more annually. In the end, though, he's 27 and will probably get another max deal eventually, and the state taxes and marketing opportunities would almost certainly come out to more money in Miami in the long term.

I think they will be getting MUCH less in return for Me7o now as opposed to that deal.

They need to package him in a deal that nets little return, BUT gets Noah's RIDICULOUS contract off the books if they can.

Hmmm...I'm hearing a sign&trade involving Ryan Anderson+the scrubs we got yesterday for Paul Millsap. That's interesting. That would still give us 8.4 mil to play with in free agency. Maybe a JJ Reddick, since he and CP3 are so tight. 40% three point shooter coming off the bench with Eric Gordon.

    CP3
    Harden
    Ariza
    Millsap
    Capela
Bench: Gordon, Reddick, NeNe, Qi, Onuaku, Troy Williams

    That's a damn good bench.

Per Woj, Rudy Gay meeting teams in Austin this weekend.

OKC seems to be the favorite. If Gay is going to decide quick, I can't see how we get involved. We're going to be busy with Hayward and probably our own guys

Truthfully Noah's contract means little if we are going the rebuild route as we should. It actually helps us reach the cap floor and could minimize the need to gake crappy contracts back. Our team is a dumpster fire right now, i dont think too FA's will be knocking down the door so cap space is best user to take back crappy contracts and acquire pick compensation for doing. Boston and Utah did this well in recent years.
