http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...g-more-jerseys-in-florida-than-florida-teams/ Selling more jerseys in Florida then anyone from any Florida team. I think we can all agree that this is pissing us off. No Florida team has a star as big as Brady I get it but it's still ticking us all off. Hopefully we have a player ascend to true stardom soon.
When I was a kid growing up, the Miami Dolphins were THE team in Florida (well, the Gators and Seminoles as well) but as I've gotten older, I've noticed that more and more people are moving to Florida to retire. Working for AT&T and installing or repairing customers' Uverse services, I've more and more out of state team fans than I ever recall when I was younger. I wouldn't sweat this too much I mean, when I was in the military and everywhere I was stationed, regardless of who the "hometown" team was, I was a die hard Dolphins fan. Same holds true here. These wimps who can no longer tolerate the cold weather of New England are moving south and bringing their fandom along with them. I just think we in Florida should charge them a warm weather moving tax and send said proceeds from said tax to the Miami Dolphins!
Totally agree. I get soooooo tired of going to sports bars and there are no Phins fans or very few. I hate the interlopers who are ALL fans of foreign teams. If your team is so wonderful then stay up north!
Well, not only are they a winning franchise, the concentration of people from the "New England" area just n SFLA is pretty large. That's the bigger picture.
sorry yeah you stated it above with the transplants here. yeah they move down here and use us for the good weather but keep their teams
There's this one sports bar I go to when the Dolphins aren't being shown (stupid Jaguars LOL) and when I go, I wear all of my garb and bring my two Dolphins flags...one to hand at the bottom of the TV I'm watching and one to wear as a cape when I run around the bar like an idiot, cheering the Dolphins scoring a TD. Referring back to the other stupid "Better Fans" thread...just because new englanders transplanted themselves to take advantage of our global warming and they may have "more" doesn't make them "better".
If Pofo wasn't closed and I hadn't;t been banned from it...I soooooooooooo would have used this against you.
80 degrees in Miami in January IS global warming compared to 30 below in New England you silly goose!!!
I'm sure in the mid to late 80s Dan Marino Jerseys would have outsold the Pats Jerseys in Boston too. The only cure is success
Well, there is always a shortage of toilet paper after hurricanes down south- I think we can put 2 and 2 together to figure out what's really happening here. Duh! =)
No, but I did start rooting for the Panthers since they're now my "home team." It's not the same though- when Carolina loses I'm like, "Oh darn, that's too bad." So I guess I wouldn't call myself a fan. Heck, I rooted for Manning in the Super Bowl two years ago against em. The state was in mourning and I just smiled.
Yes sir. we start winning and maybe Brady retires, you will see a swing back. question, would those Northerners move back too?
I moved to Pennsylvania and still root for the Dolphins so no and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either. What sting however is it's a division rival and it's in your face more
Who cares which jerseys a bunch of morons buy? Even if they live in Florida. We're fans, and we have every right to obsess over trivial bull crap. But getting worked up over tom Brady jersey sales seems like a waste of time and energy. Everyone here in this internet message board loves the dolphins. Why care about the others?
Been Living in Central Florida all my life, with the exception of a few years in Atlanta. I keep waiting for them to go the hell back but nothing seems to make them leave. Every year we get more and more and all they do is complain about anything and everything. Chronic whinners for the most part. Sheesh, if you don't like it here, go back home or somewhere else. We didn't ask you to come.
North to south transplant must be an east coast thing. West Coast has pretty good weather up and down. Seattle has it the worst and even then not that bad.
I think it is. Sooo many people from up here (NJ, born and raised) end up down in Florida, for at least part of the year, because of the weather. My grandparents and my aunt and uncle moved down in 1972, before it was a thing lol (both my grandparents sadly have passed, but my aunt and uncle are still in Boca, going on 45 years now- I stay with them whenever I come down for Fins games). Yeah, from Maine to Boston to Philly and Cleveland, the "snowbirds" pack the South Florida coast in the winter months. There are thousands and thousands of condos down there that get rented out to locals in the summer, then pack out with Northerners in the winter. That's been a thing for decades- Miami is practically New York South.
I don't understand why people complain about transplants...tourism keeps us from crazy high property taxes.
It's not tourism when they move here man. Come, enjoy and when your vacation is done get the F out. If you are going to move here at least move here for work. Don't retire here. I just hate it. They don't even add anything or care for the area. It's just warm and they like warm. They complain about the restaurants and the locals and everything was so much better up north yet here they stay. Do they try to even follow the Dolphins or Bucs in a way to at least ingratiate themselves when their primary team isn't playing? No. Then they band together with other miserable old smelly people also from their area and try to get their friends to retiree here too. Next thing you know, you have entire northern neighborhoods retiring here together. I'm in Naples. The closes sports bar to me is the official Green Bay Packers SW Fanclub HQ. I mean it's ridiculous. There should TOTALLY be a massive moving tax. Florida's getting too crowded even over here in Naples. My family moved here in the 70's but it was different as my Dad was SENT here for a specific job. There wasn't like any choice. My wife was born in Boynton Beach.
Nope. They do. That's all they do that's positive to their new home. Besides that they suck Sumo taint.
When I was 13 my parents moved from my birthplace of West Palm Beach to the State of Maine Patriots nation this was 1976. To this day Im a die hard Dolfan, and I dislike the Pats more than any sporting team on this earth, by the way thats been true since 1976.
And you get problems like this with all the retirees coming to a concentrated area. Florida Aquifer running low. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...evelopment-sucks-up-water-20170630-story.html
