Would be the first time since '95 (yes I also just threw up in my mouth thinking of that). I really like Elliott Harrison. He is probably the smartest analyst on NFL Network. http://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/20...s-dolphins-will-have-top-10-offense-can-they/ So that means also that Gase would be the first HC since Shula to field a top ten offense. Think we can do it?
Yeah. I mean trying to just name a couple standout offensive players since then is hard. Ricky, Brandon Marshall each had one nice year that's it Since '94 here are the skill position offensive pro bowlers for the dolphins: WR: Marshall in '11 and Landry in '15 and '16 RB: Ricky in '02 Ronnie in '08 (wildcat) and Ajayi in '16 TE: Zero QB: Zilch We did have the one year where the only person that went to the pro bowl was Brandon Fields the punter. That was as bad as my sister's perfect attendance award. We're looking so much better now. It sounds like we should expect Parker, Landry, Ajayi and Tannehill all as offensive probowlers this year. That to me means 12-4 taking down the Steelers in the AFC Champ Game next stop Minneapolis!
For the past couple of years, I've looked at the talent of offense and thought, "One of these days, they're going to explode and put up 50 in a game." That sort of happened against the Jets with Moore when we essentially took the 2nd half off on offense, but that was also against the stinking Jets. Then I think to myself, it really comes down to possessions. If we look at how Tannehill scored last season, there were a lot of chunk yards in there that didn't burn a lot of clock. That's efficient and definitely the way to score big points, but then our defense would spend 8 minutes defending a long drive that ended in a TD....and the efficiency is gone. So if the defense steps up like we're all expecting them to and even playing as a top 14-18 unit, that's giving Miami an extra 2-4 drives per game to make something happen. That's huge and I think it's the recipe for us to finally crack that top 10 status.
It is possible. QB is good. WR is great. RB is good to great. TE is good enough. OL is below average to good. depending on injuries. Coaching is potentially good to great. All things are needed to have an offense in the top 10.
It will all depend on the interior of the offensive line. IF, HUGE IF, Pouncey can play all season and we get average guard play then I see it happening very easily.
