Not having followed Cutler previously I didn't realise there was a medical issue with his shoulder. Spotted this just now on Twitter:

yep that's why he missed like 10 games.
I don't know, I think all of this was already discussed. I'm sure he will pass, but if he doesn't, then plan B hopefully can go forward

Wow imagine the new outlets would love nothing more than to have him fail the physical and be cornered into the Kapernick sideshow

Im sorry this guy didnt committ a crime. He is allowed to support anything politically. Problem is once yoh disagree with mainstream society he is sent to the corner.

Yeah that's actually not how Brees said it went down in his book. Said he never had a physical. Was so put off by Saban in their first meeting he jumped at the Saints job...

With that said, they DID botch the Culpepper assessment obviously.

That's interesting. I've never heard that side of the Brees situation. As far as everything I've ever read, Brees actually preferred the Miami position but settled to NO once we moved on to Culpepper.

No, he didn't commit a crime, I'm not speaking from a legal standpoint at all. I'm speaking for myself and I assume a lot of other Veterans who not only fought through wars but watch their friends die in front of them protecting the rights of others. I see the Nation Anthem as a moment of thanks to those who fought and died for us to be able to sit and watch these events. It's not a moment for Political statements or a stage for someone personal statements. There are hundreds of other ways and times to get your message across. It's to show your respect. When KAP decided to kneel he take a knee and was asked about why he stated that he "refused to stand for the playing of the national anthem in protest of what he deems are wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States" which to me is a great cause. Any soldier who went to war or served this country deserves this moment of respect and reflection. Kaepernick didn't respect that. Nothing anyone can say will ever change my mind on the matter. The guy has a right to protest it's a just protest, it was just a very misguided time and place for it IMHO.

I don't believe the guy cares about the people who died for his freedoms and I will never support him. That is why even though he did nothing Illegal I wanted no part of him representing the NFL or becoming the face of my Favorite team in any capacity even if that means we miss the playoffs or Superbowl I wouldn't want him.

No you are wrong. It isn't the law to stand for the anthem, esp if this person doesn't believe in the fundamental rights that he believed were violated. Look, it's great you are a vet. thank you. But standing up for the anthem is more than just vets. As a black man, he thought not enough was done for the unjust lives lost from cops. AND because of you veterans, he is allowed to do this. Until Vets and Citizens realize that freedom of speech is more than just the media and internet spewing, we will never come to a happy medium.

We will just have to agree to disagree on the Kapernick issues. Now that we have a new QB We can move on to Bashing or Praising Jay Cutler now!

My recollection is that the story that Saban preferred Brees over Culpepper only came out after Culpepper crashed and burned here and Brees was successful in NO and Saban quit on the team. To me it has always seemed to be post hoc self justification from Saban. As part of that came the idea that Brees preferred Miami.

I kniw it was reported before meeting Saban that Brees preferred Miami. I do remember feeling that the lack of follow up following that meeting seemed oddly. Nothing I could put my finger on, but not what the usual follow up was. I thought it was because the phins had already decided to move on to Culpepper.

In any event I'll trust Brees before I trust Saban.

    Slightly left of center
Considering Satan came out recently and said if the org had gone with Brees instead of Crappooper he would likely still be a Dolphin, not sure about that story. But then again Satan is a lying sack of crap so...

You see in that version, Saint Saban is wrongly done unto by the philistines in the FO. And he would have been a great NFL coach, but for being dragged down by other incompetents. So he did nothing wrong.

Alternatively you can assume a lying sack of crap who stood up, looked people in the eye and told them he wasn't going to Alabama is lying again.
