Im sorry, yes I am happy with Gase, but he needs to look at his personnel better. Fragile knee qb and now your starting MLB playing punt coverage? When you know your LBs were weak last year? And you passed on David Harris? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't know. Pre-season exists for the purpose of testing things out, and injuries occur in unpredictable ways. You could run the exact same play and a slight variation in speed or direction might well avoid the whole thing. Bottom line is, if football is played, injuries can happen. Personally, I'd prefer if they ditched the pre-season entirely.
Own up to what? Are you nuts... was Gase supposed to just not let Tannehill practice at all? Why have practice or preseason at all then if they shouldn't be getting reps. You're over reacting, injuries happen.
You need to pay better attention to what kind of players end up on special teams if you think McMillan was out of place there. Young starters are far from rare.
Just because he was the starter in training camp doesn't mean he was not going to have to play special teams. Was Alonso or Timmons going to do it? How many LBers play on Sunday? Either way it's football.
There's really nothing out of the ordinary about a rookie playing on ST's. The only person at fault in regards to McMillian is the football god. He hates the Dolphins.
While it is unfortunate and he has potential the only way the team improves is for players to play.It sucks for sure but I don't blame the coach at all.
Just calm down and reign it in bro, there are plenty of starters that play on STs, especially young LBs, guys big enough to block that can also run and TACKLE. Lets not forget that he was in no way the #1 MLB at this point either, he was still struggling to get the playbook down, as he said himself last week, or earlier this week, and nearly every rookie that fits the ST bill, plays on ST, as Cam Wake did, and JT and Zach. This is the normal machinations of the NFL, him not playing on ST would be unusual.
Yes I'm not second guessing this very hard as you have to instill that mentality that everyone is always working hard and competing. But when it's your starting MLB on a team that has a weak LB corps to start with you might give it some thought. But Gase is in for the long haul here and the culture is more important than any player. Just unfortunate that it had to be the one investment this team made in the draft for a potential starting LB.
*Fans cry because starting jobs are handed and not earned/culture sucks* *Coach creates a culture where players earn playing time* *Coach creates a culture where no player is too good for any one job* *Fans cry because player has freak injury because he shouldn't be on the field* *Fans quickly forget or have no clue how Bill Belichick goes about special teams players*
Jesus, God, Mary and Joseph! If McMillan hadn't been injured and knocked that Falcon's punt returner's dick in the dirt, you'd be hootin' and hollerin' at what a fantastic pick he was, how hard he it, great tackle, yada yada yada...and you wouldn't be complaining one bit about him being on special teams. It's football. Special teams are made up of players from both side of the ball, offense and defense both.
I don't know about Suh, but Wake played ST as a rookie, perhaps beyond, AB still plays on STs, and he's widely regarded as the best WR in the NFL. There is 3 facets to and NFL team, offense, defense and special teams, it's important to have good ST players, the beginning and ending of most drives is a ST play. We lost Kwon on ST, but we won the game on ST. JJ was one of the first big proponents of treating ST like an equal part of the team with O and D, because he saw how many games were won on ST, not just on big plays like last night, but in field position battle.
Yeah, you're way, way , way off base here. Tannehill likely blew out his ACL again this year, regardless of last year. Plenty of 2nd round picks play special teams this early. Nothing abnormal going on here. Nothing for Gase to apologize for. Maybe the Ajayi concussion, but hey... with such limited practice time now, you've got to teach, and get these guys tackling. I'm not sure Jay had anything to prove out there, it could have been avoided likely, but hey, nothing you can do there now. Calm Down.
Sure there is. If Kwon wasn't injured, or had made a great tackle, you wouldnt have brought it up--much less broyght ip David Harris.
I think in todays day and age, with roster limits on game day rosters, increased injury concerns, everything needs to be reanalyzed. my starters are not playing on special teams in the first preseason game when I have an abundance of camp fodder aka 90 man roster.
you're way off. fast, young rookies on defense are usually playing special teams. jason taylor, our new HOFer played special teams. It's just been so long since we had a stud LB, you're forgetting
We have to remember, Kwon wasn't a starter, he's an unproven rookie 2nd round pick. There is no such thing as a 2nd round rookie LB that doesn't play ST, that species doesn't exist, lol. Believe me folks, no one would feel any better if he had gotten injured playing LB.
Maybe the offense will be good enough to fight off any negative impact from this? Maybe our secondary will pick up some of the slack? Maybe Wake can play middle LB (ha ha). Hopefully we don't just fill the hole with a cast-off liability player since we probly already broke the bank with Cutler. How is our cap situation looking? Is this all going to effect Landry's contract stuff?
