Apparently, it also alters the whole game world in some ways too. I think 5 hours would be on the light end.

It's going to be a $20 DLC, $15 if you have PS+ and pre-order. For that kind of money, I'm hoping for at least 6-8 hours of gaming goodness. Truth be told, even if they said it was only 3 hours of content, I'd pay it (and whine a bit in the process).

Looks like it's gonna be story content relating to the tribal conflict. I found that storyline to be kind of weak, but new machines and areas sound cool.

The DLC will be a fall 2017 release, so best guess is.... October? I'm hoping another big No Man's Sky update will happen in the meantime and by the time I'm done with that, October will be here.

I am totally down with anything that they give us. Also excited that they're really counting on multiple more games in the series now too.

Yeah, some other new features too. Weapons and outfits, and apparently face paint. I'm curious about NG+, but sad that the level 50 cap is still in effect, since I already got there in my first playthrough.

Quick question, guys. Has anyone figured a way to pick up items while mounted on a strider?

That sucks. Getting on and off all the time basically takes away the advantage of riding.

Yeah, I couldn't figure out a way either. Honestly, I ended up riding creatures for a period in the middle of the game when I needed to escape quickly, and was exploring new areas. But after that, I just walked or fast traveled.

I didn't ride anything at all throughout the game, but I'm like that with any open world game. There are mounts in Nier: Automata and I just don't use them at all. Skyrim? Nope. I'm always sneaking around.

I probably sneaked around more in HZD than just about every other game I've ever played combined! Tall grass was my best friend.

So, our old 42" Toshiba HDTV died after 8.5 years last week. Dell had a 50" Samsung 4K TV for $400 (after $200 credit). Set it up yesterday and watched some Netflix shows. I didn't see that much of a difference when looking at 4K TVs in various stores compared to our 1080P Toshiba, but after watching at home? I see it now. As good as I thought Horizon: Zero Dawn looked with our standard PS4 and Toshiba, it looks even better on that 4K TV. The Horizon: Zero Dawn DLC is going to be that much better now.

I updated to an LG OLED 4K and a PS4 Pro this Winter/Spring. Awesome. While you don't get HDR with all the games, the ones that you do look spectacular. There are other benefits too. Nier Automata doesn't upscale to HDR on PS4 Pro but it does run at 60FPS, and it's noticeable.

When the PS5 comes out, ill think about upgrading to a 4k tv. For me though, with my poor eyesight, i dont see the benefit yet.

Maybe I read someone say this here, but it is true; the leap from SD to HD was miles bigger than the leap from HD to HDR/4K.

The real ***** is there isn't a whole ton of support for it. If I want to watch something 4K I'm restricted to Amazon Prime original or a $10 dollar (!) rental from Vudu. Maybe I'm missing something.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like DirecTV has any special channels for it or anything. I was a VERY early adopter of Bluray, but for this I'm fine to be really patient.

Yeah, for games I'd need to buy a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X to get a 4K input for our new 4K TV. We'll probably just buy a 4K Blu-ray player for under $200. The Wonder Woman movie releasing on Ultra HD will be reason enough to get one.

If our old HDTV hadn't died, we would have stuck with it till at least next year, but it didn't make sense to NOT upgrade since we needed a new TV anyway.

November? Kind of appropriate for a DLC called 'The Frozen Wilds'. :)

I like how many games are adding that super easy mode recently. It makes the game more accessible without hindering the experience of the rest of the fan base. I believe Nier Automata had a mode like that, too.

I always play games on normal mode, but I agree that with a game that has such an amazing story, especially if you work hard to dig into all of it, this is a good thing for people who just aren't good at combat (which is very challenging at the basic level in HZD)

It does, but it has a neat little trick. In Easy mode, you can equip certain abilities (chips in the game) restricted only for those on Easy mode. The trade-off is you sacrifice ability space for other utility, offensive, or defensive skills. You don't have to use them. This way, it's even a more customizable easy mode.

With regard to HZD's easy mode; maybe my girlfriend will play it now! That being said. I won't be mentioning it until after I'm through the DLC. Too bad.

I wonder if the growing inclusion of 'Story' difficulty level is to benefit very casual gamers and Live Streamers? My wife prefers to play on the easiest setting as she is there for the plot, not to die again and again while trying to beat some boss.

This kind of thing can be helpful to get through the hardest parts too. Though I never needed to dial things down in HZD, I did have to in order to beat several bosses in TW3, even on my second playthrough, and even very over levelled. Its nice to have it if you need it. I think that I did so back in ME3 as well.

It definitely is for more inexperienced players. Horizon isn't really a hard game, but I'd say it's harder than most games being released these days.

I guess that depends on the gamer, lol. I found it to be so challenging, that I was almost always afraid of the robots, even at high levels. It often took a lot of trial and error to get through new spots.

I've spent about 3 hours with The Frozen Wilds. It is a tougher game now than it was before. I got killed about a minute after I encountered one of the new robotic animals, the Scorcher. Now, I was still adjusting to the controls again after mostly playing No Man's Sky and Everyone's Golf the past few months, but I've gotten killed four times so far in six encounters. The other part of it is that they lowered the protective strength of the Ancient Armor. In fact, during some encounters you'll be better off putting on a different set of armor. The enemies are faster, tougher, and smarter than ever before.

Honestly, I'm loving the challenge this DLC has brought to the game. It looks fantastic and I never get tired of hearing those audio recordings and learning a bit more about some of the Ancients. I spent a good chunk of time on a side quest to an old dam, repaired a Tallneck, and just encountered that ape/bear robot from the trailers. My first plan to deal with it got me killed almost immediately. The old tactics I had for setting out tripwires and lots of explosives are not working near as well as they did before. I called it a night at that point, but will be plotting my revenge all day at work tomorrow. :)

If you played and liked Horizon Zero Dawn, you'll want to play this DLC too.

I can't wait until I eventually can! And I struggled with the difficulty the whole time before, lol.

I'm also playing Everybody's Golf right now myself.

Tried to play a bit last night and couldn't get past the Daemonic Scorcher at the very beginning of the DLC. Died probably 6 or 7 times.

Just beat it. Did almost everything in 50 hours. Not sure how I feel about the ending. Story I thought was pretty weak at first, but it got a lot better as it went and I would ultimately say it was good. I thought gameplay was fun throughout except for the very last battle to be honest (it ranged from ok to tedious IMO).

And shame on people (*cough* Unlucky *cough*) for not using the ropecaster, it's awesome.
