Cool. I will be interested, though unsure if I will opt for Vita or PS4.

The graphics are styled after the PS Vita (and later iOS/Android port) remake of Seiken Densetsu / Final Fantasy Adventure. Exact same style. The best way to think of the graphical style is an adaptation of the style used for the FF3 and FF4 DS remakes. The graphics look basically like the SNES sprites done in that FF3/FF4 style.

The killer feature for this game needs to be online multiplayer. The original let you plug in a multi-tap controller and 3 people could play the 3 characters. Make that an online feature: 3 people join 1 game and play as the 3 characters.

Also, this is available for preorder on Steam, so it's not just consoles. Thankfully. I've dropped my $40 already, because, well, it's friggin' Secret of Mana.

I wonder if this foreshadows a US release for the Seiken Densetsu collection on Nintendo Switch. That would be nice; it would be an official English translation of Seiken Densetsu 3, which is arguably even better than Secret of Mana.

Definitely enjoyed that one better. Class-systems are almost ALWAYS fun. The difference is, I played Secret of Mana when I was a kid, and SD3 when I was an adult. So, Secret of Mana definitely holds nostalgia for me.

I wasn't a kid when I played it the first time. I was about 15 or 16, but it was still a terrific game. In addition to all of the fun and cool things within the game and story, I remember how groundbreaking the menu options were, and how cool it was to be able to customize all of that yourself in a lot of different ways. Somewhere along the line, Square and everyone else dropped that for some reason.

It's almost like the quick-select wheel in a lot of modern games. I'd be interested to know whether or not Secret of Mana was the first game to truly do that.

Though I remain interested and excited about the game, and eager to relive the world and story from my teenage years, I have to say that I think that the term "remaster" would have been more appropriate here, instead of "remake". When I think of a remake, I assume that its being done ground up in today's styles and with the newest technology (ie, FF7). While everything about this game is obviously an improvement over the original on the SNES, its also obviously not equal to a AAA title on the PS4/XBOX1 either. I used the term Gamecube graphics earlier, but with more screenshots, I'd say PS2 is more applicable.

This version almost looks a little too mobile-y for me the more I chew on it.

I was totally down for buying it once the price dropped to $20-30 later on, but it doesn't look like that will be possible now.

This is pretty much what the SNES 2D art style would look like in 3D. It's faithful to both the art style and the art scale. That's why it looks mobile-y to you.

I personally hate the voice acting and hope there's an option to turn it off, but oh boy am I getting this.

The voice acting definitely does not help. Haha.
