Again, it was "wrong", but maybe not "wrong" on the level you're selling it as...is the point.

    No it isn't.

If a parent misses one kid performance they aren't kicked off of the family.

    Sigh. No it isn't.

The whole thing I quoted was the TEAM IS A FAMILY. If that is the case, then you don't cut him, you forgive and let him earn the respect back.

You don't get to approve of the team as a family then disregard that analogy when it leads to something you don't agree with.

Maybe he wants to have a sex change (Chelsea Manning) or just wanted to "get away" (Bowe Bergdahl). You just need the right leader to manage the situation and they'll be right as rain. Give up your machismo "hard lovin'" and go hug someone, drink some wine and wait 'till we hear from coach, neanderthal.

Look. We just don't know what happened at this point. Until we, and more importantly the team, get facts about it there is nothing but useless conjecture and angst. He may very well have an incredibly good reason for what he did, there is nothing in his past that would point to this kind of thing so whatever the situation you have to think that it is something pretty serious or completely out of the norm.

The only thing I can fault him with at this point with what we know is that he left without a word and that's pretty damn serious in itself.

"The players seem just as confused about the situation as the fans. Miami cornerback Byron Maxwell told the Palm Beach Post’s Jason Lieser after the game, “It was out of the blue. It’s just one of those things. You worry about him, but at the end of the day, you’ve got a job to do. I’ve got an obligation to this team I’ve gotta fulfill, so I can’t be worried about who’s not here. I’m happy if he’s alive, basically. The worst was going through my mind. I think he’s OK. I don’t know what happened.”

Defensive end Andre Branch also weighed in, telling Lieser, “I don’t know all the info, so I can’t speak on it. I hoped everything was good, at the end of the day. I hoped he was good and his heath and everything was fine.”

Offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod spoke to the Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley about the situation as well, saying, “I really don't know much about the situation. I don't know what happened or why. It got to the point where I just hope he's OK. Of course we want the competitor out there. He left it out there all week in practice. He had a good week of practice. When this happened, I just hope he's OK. You want him to play. He's a leader. He's a hell of player.”"

Hmm... those quotes sure make it sound like something odd, yet concerning happened to Timmons. It's got to be something big for players to say things like "happy if he's alive", "hope his health is ok", etc, etc. It's pretty odd for a player with 11 seasons and 101 straight starts to up and disappear like that. Sounds like there was some concern for his well being mentally and physically. Starting to wonder if we'll ever get all the details on this one.

"• After missing Sunday’s game for an undisclosed personal reason, Dolphins linebacker Lawrence Timmons is doing better and wants to resume his career immediately, according to a leaguue source.

But Timmons must first meet with coach Adam Gase, and that meeting with help determine his Dolphins future.

In addition, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Timmons is scheduled to meet with doctors today to determine the “personal” issue.

Gase has said he will discuss the matter at his 3 p.m. news conference.

Timmons left the team on Saturday and Dolphins officials didn’t determine his whereabouts until Sunday morning."

Is the kharma shaming really necessary? We're only basing it on the absolute nothing that has been posted by the media and that he was angered and because of that anger he hauled mass. I feel the same way. Blame the Phins PR for not getting the right message out if that was the reason. If he bounced from the game voluntarily his mom better be hanging from a skyscraper balcony after fighting terrorists or his family had better be kidnapped by carnie transgender t-shirt airbrush artists and being held in a my pretty pony bounce house fighting off bendy spork wielding Showbiz Pizza characters.

What is wrong with pointing out hypocrisy in an attempt to engender empathy?

At this point, all we know is that timmons missed a day of work. I know, I know, there is no worse offense a person can make in the history of the world then missing a day of work....but still....

 Karma shaming? My god, I've heard it all now.

The greater point here in all of this is... remember, this is just a game. This is just entertainment. It's something still played by human's, who regardless of their profession, or income, or our interest in the outcome of the game they play, they still have real life issues that they have to deal with. So rather than jumping to conclusions based on the "absolute nothing" posted by the media, why not just wait and see what's actually going on instead of acting like he's the worst person in the world. Who knows what he was dealing with? Obviously in his mind, whatever it was, was more important than a football game to him. So why criticize and damn the guy until we actually know what happened, and why do any of us get to decide whether that's important enough of a reason or not?

This is the biggest no-brainer. We are thin at LB and he is a damn good LB. Regardless of whether he was in the right or in the wrong for going AWOL, those two reasons are good enough to warrant a second chance. If he happened to be 100% in the wrong, I'd suggest getting over it. People do stupid, selfish, and inconsiderate things all the time. You cannot define them on a single action. I find it deeply ironic that so many people on this board were in favor of giving Dion Jordan a fifth chance while the mere thought of giving Timmons a second chance is unfathomable.

If you can't find it in your heart to move past this, find it in your head.

I have a feeling that something bad happened to a close friend/family member and Timmons first instinct was to immediately go help. And if that's the case, you'd have to be a real jerk to hold that against the guy.

I just found this on ESPN- "The 31-year-old Timmons, entering his 11th NFL season, was dealing with his personal matter Saturday and returned to the team early Sunday morning before the Dolphins decided he wasn't in a good place to play against the Los Angeles Chargers. His streak of 101 consecutive starts was snapped."

That means he was missing Saturday afternoon and returned early Sunday- the Dolphins decided not to play him because of his emotional state. That changes everything.

It seems more mental health related to me. Quotes from teammates seemingly confused to what happened, but concerned for his health and well being. Someone who's an 11 year vet, 101 consecutive starts with no issues doesn't just snap and disappear without some kind of trigger. Follow it up today with his want to return to playing ASAP, and having visits scheduled with doctors to determine the "issue". Maybe he has a pre-diagnosed mental health condition and somehow got off track. Who knows really, but that's what it seems like to me based on what little we know. Sounds like he was back with the team Sunday morning, but they left him inactive thinking he wasn't well enough? Or maybe that was their way of "punishing" him? But even post game, Gase seemed to not have an idea what really happened.

Of course, maybe it's possible what we're being told right now, isn't what happened at all. All accounts though make it seem like something happened that wasn't team related. Still have to just wait and see I guess.

I agree, I think it was some sort of mental breakdown....it doesn't really matter what caused it as much as if they can get him help and get him back on the right path. I'm more worried about Timmons the person than I am Timmons the linebacker.

Could not agree any more. The people in charge, the ones who have actual facts and know what happened, will be the ones to gauge whether or not any punishment will be given out. Until then, people jumping to conclusions, with no information, should chill out . Timmons has been a stand up guy and leader his whole career, a emotional decision, which this may be, does not undo all the good he has represented. Obviously, he could have handled this better , but if his coaches and teammates are cool with his explanation, who are we to be killing him.....just because he is a good player on our favorite team. For the record, if the FO deems this punishable, I'm sure Timmons and the fan base will understand, and move on from this

Yup, people are jumping the gun on this one- especially since we know that Timmons was at the stadium and ready to play on Sunday morning. It was the media ASSUMING that he wasn't there that stirred up all the drama though, so I also agree with others that they should have handled this better from a PR standpoint. All they had to say was Timmons was sitting out due to personal issues and this was a non-story.

In any case, I hope the guy is okay. Something obviously happened that really rattled him.

I wouldnt cut him because we need him at LB and im a selfish fan, but no one is being ridiculous by saying he should be cut. You might have a different opinion, but this guy went AWOL the night before a game at a position we were already thin at. If he werent a high priced free agent addition with a good resume he'd have been cut already.

You might disagree and think by taking it out to an extreme saying that we are calling for him to be killed for going AWOL you are making a good point, but youre not. He deserves some sort of punishment, and most of the time a player doing this would result in him immediately being cut. His saving grace currently is that he is an NFL starting LB on a team with terrible LB's. If he's a special team guy on a minimum contract he would have been cut already. This is simply unacceptable from a guy who is a starter, was just given a 12 million contract over 2 years, and is supposed to be a leader.

I dont think he'll be cut because Tannenbaum would then show the NFL just how bad he has been at building this roster at spots we have been bad at for years, but it certainly wouldnt be uncalled for to cut him for what he did.

I think that after his career, 11 years, 101 starts, no real issues, the guy at least deserves the benefit of the doubt until we know what happened. As I said earlier, if he's PO'd at the team or the coaches, or done something stupid then, yeah... take some kind of action. If it's not that, and there's a much bigger problem then you see what it is and go from there. Time will tell, I'm sure Gase will fill people in to some degree at 3.

I do have a sense that this could be concussion related. NFL players act up like this a lot of times due to head injuries, and this guys is a 10 year starting NFL linebacker. Look what happened to Davone Bess going over the middle for years. I went to school with Tre Mason before he went to college and even he went a little off the deep end due to concussions after just a year or 2 in the NFL.

We'll see what happened when more facts come out, but that would not shock me at all if that was the case.

it's one guy irrationally mad at TImmons for going AWOL. most people had a much more calm reaction and by you acting as if a lot of people are calling for him to be killed and jailed for leaving the team it just makes your point less credible. But calling for him to be cut for this is not at all irrational. He wont be in all likelihood because our LB's suck, but doing this is an obvious way to get cut really quickly. He's just lucky he's at a position of need and was just signed to be a starter.

TMZ just broke that Timmons wanted to see his kid, but no news what happened- http://www.tmz.com/2017/09/18/lawrence-timmons-miami-dolphins/

The Miami Dolphins were so concerned when linebacker Lawrence Timmons went AWOL on Saturday, a team rep filed a missing persons report with police ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Here's what we know ... the Miami Dolphins team was in Southern California on Saturday to play the L.A. Chargers on Sunday.

When the team checked to make sure the players were in their rooms by curfew, Timmons was not there.

Our sources say the team scrambled to find him -- calling family and close friends before ultimately filing a missing persons report with local law enforcement.

The good news ... cops found Timmons at LAX early Sunday morning in a boarding area in an effort to get to Pennsylvania. A team rep met Timmons at the airport and left with him.

So, why Pennsylvania? We're told Timmons had spoken with his baby mama who lives there and had told her he missed the baby and wanted to visit. He was serious about visiting her.

Timmons is now back with the team and is scheduled to meet with doctors, according to ESPN.
