I don't mind the thread creations. If I don't like a particular thread I don't click it. And if I like a thread I will post in it to keep it up top.

Besides, Dirty is cool in my book.

    U.K.
Back on topic. This game is a tough one to call. Jets have stopped ajayi and our run game last 3 games we have played IIRC, and last season we had to have special teams scoring to help get the win at home.

To me this suggests they will be happy to go all out on stopping the run again and force cutler to beat them with the passing game. Not a good look for us.

That said, I feel more comfortable with our defence having improved since the earlier game this season, and I wouldn’t expect them to trouble us with their run game, so they will equally have to beat us thru the passing game.

I think they have the slight edge with a more potent passing offence and some young playmakers in their secondary. But I believe this will be a tight slugfest of a game which will go down to the wire as seems to be standard with these fins. Here’s hoping the home field advantage allows us to win the intangibles and bring home the W.
    Jets 17 Fins 20.

That home win last year Ajayi ran for 111 yards with a decent 4.63 YPC so it's only the last 2 games they've bottled us up.

Here's the thing. I think our first game against the Jets this year was an aberration. Our offense was just overall pathetic (should have bolded and capitalized that!) for some reason. But the Jets run defense has also been pathetic if you ignore their game against us.

The Jets run defense has given up 190, 180, 175, 140 and 118 rushing yards in their 5 other games. That's an average of 160.6 which would be the worst run defense in the NFL (currently the Chargers are the worst, giving up 152.5). And with their game against us where they only gave up 30 rushing yards (sure looks like an aberration eh?), they're still giving up on average 138.8 rushing yards per game and are 5th worst in the NFL.

So I think this game is a win for us because Ajayi will have a good day.

I feel this game will hinge on the performance of our offensive line.

Sometimes a runner can get out around the edge for a gain; but even then, if the OL doesn't get to their secondary objectives the runner seldom gets loose. Sometimes a QB can break for the sidelines and get off a pass downfield; but this is not a sustainable way to play.

The OL's responsibility to the success of a play is so fundamental it is often taken for granted or even overlooked. If you don't know what play was called, it is even more difficult to determine if the OL performed properly. Did a tackle miss a block, or did the defense have an effective counter play called that made the tackles' performance irrelevant because he was in the right place according to the play called, but could not stop the rusher from that position.

I learned back in the 1970's when I followed the Bengals, that the OL was the most important group on the field. If you think I'm nuts, just check with any NFL QB. The Bengals had not been all that good, then they got a coach named Forrest Greg. Everyone was complaining about the QB and asked the new coach what he was going to do about the QB problem. Coach Greg answered "No one can throw lying on his back". They drafted a new center and two linemen called the "Mexican connection". I recall their names being Montoya and Muñoz. Two years later they were in the super bowl.

You can analyze the details of an offensive play all you like, but if you don't look at how everyone on the offense performed during that play you will probably miss the basic details of how the play was meant to work. Did the center get the ball to the right player in the backfield, did the player that got the ball have time to position themselves in order to handoff the ball or pass the ball or run the ball or kick the ball. It isn't until after that point that I see most analyses start. That's why I don't get too "wrapped around the axle" when these analyses are discussed.

It seems we just need an extra second. Been asking for this for years. Is it mis-assignments, just being over-powered, or are the WR's not getting open? We have been talking about 2nd half adjustments, let's see what we have as adjustments for Game 2 against a team we played a few weeks back

Yeah, I read yesterday that Cutler had the least amount of time to pass(maybe one other QB was worse). I think Cutler is just getting better at getting the ball out quicker.

One thing that helped, strangely enough, was Parker being injured and going to two TE sets more.

Yeah, they were in a really tough spot this offseason as the guards were way overpriced and the draft was thin at OL. Heck, wasn't the golden boy Forrest Lamp put on IR in the preseason?

I'm glad we grabbed what the draft was rich in, which was edge rushers and CB's. It will pay off down the line drafting this way, imo...

The inability to throw the ball deep because of no time to throw is so frustrating. The offense was built in the Summer Camp on deep throws.

Man, I hate the Jets like the Pats. Well, throw the Bills in there too. I have to admit, the Jets did get screwed. Well said.

    So CAL
I think a lot of the problem/problems could be jay not changing or sliding protections seems to me he reads and hikes, this could be because we snap the ball or are lining up with 10 seconds on the play clock every dang down, its frustrating. I think the point should be get to the line let the center call his protections have jay slide protections and use ajayi/Williams to chip the ends and stop so many play actions, if we are having less time throwing then use the play actions sparingly for they take longer to develop.

From what I see the receivers are doing enough and are open, one problem I see is Jay is unwilling to force a throw which is good and bad. But landry is damn near open every time and if cutler would let it fly I think he could hit stills a lot more down than field, he has to just let it go once in awhile.

Technically if they determined he regained possession before he rolled over into view but after he hit out of bounds in the endzone that is a legitimate call.

I dont agree with the ruling but still.
