Pretty awful start. XH misses a tackle, then Reshad misses the same tackle. Tank gets lost in coverage and leaves his guy open for a perfectly thrown ball. Just a bad, bad start as usual

Maybe a short pass on 2nd and 18 to get some yards and then another pass on 3rd to try to get the first down instead of just giving up.

Well sometimes it's not always about getting the 1st, but moving the ball up for a better punt. I could see argument for both sides - but either way it's a nudge nudge hint hint about the turnovers Gase is trying to limit from Cutler.

 

Now that's a better possibility on 2nd down yes, but when you get to 3rd and 18, in the first quarter, there's no need to panic on a crap field. Who knows, maybe Cutler changed a play in there too.

I just don't see the big deal. I don't like it, but to boo? I mean come on, its 7-7 in the FIRST quarter

 

That's kinda where my head is at with it. It's 3rd and 18... first Q, 7-7 game. With a jumpy QB with poor footwork. He had a nice start, sure, but... live to play another series at that point.

I'm not familiar with the history but having a game played at the stadium the night before an NFL game doesn't seem like the smartest thing.

 

Well, the jets decided to try to get the first on 3rd and 19 instead of just giving up. Worked out pretty good for them

 

I think we're the only team in the league that 3rd down screens are effective against.

 

Bowles just showed he has more faith in McCown than Gase does with Cutler on literally the same third-and-long.

 

Good replay there. Philips shouldn't have gone for the strip.
