Per Adam Shefter. This was no fire sale. Ajayi has been feast or famine. Aside from 3 200 yards game: this is what he has rushed for since the Pitts game last year: 111 79 77 45 61 48 51 59 33 122 16 46 77 130 51 23 64 yards a game - over 16 games. 1,029 yards
I would've preferred Juice being traded, he'll be gone in the offseason or he'll be back with WR #1 money he doesn't deserve
Parker is cheap for another few years. There is no problem in keeping him around unless he absolutely stinks. It sucks that he gets hurt but he has shown flashes of being uncoverable and this offense needs that. Even at 12 games a year he would be worth it on his rookie contract. EDIT: He's cheap for one more year.
How is his yards per carry? A running back really has no control over yds. per game because he ma only get the ball 12 times a game. In that case 60 yds. would be awesome.
Lmao, sure let's just ignore his 3 200 yard games. It's not like the only other runners to acomplish that in a season were OJ Simpson and Earl Campbell. And you act like ajayi is responsible for not being consistent when it is entirely the fault of the oline and gase's predictable playcalling. Ajayi is the best back in the league in terms of breaking tackles and yards after contact. That tells you all you need to know about whether it's ajayi that is inconsistent or it is gase and the oline.
Gase doesnt love anybody, he is a narcissistic self serving prick who would throw anybody under the bus if it serves his ego.
Some gold in here today. Jay is someone elses problem now. A change of scenery is probably best. This is all on Jay Ajayi. He's got a lot to learn about being a pro and the writing was on the wall from week 1 last year. As for Landry, he'll be gone because someone will overpay for him. Therefore, to me, that means today while he was "available" we likely never got an offer over the 3rd round compensatory pick we'd likely get if he walked. I mean, afterall, why would anybody trade more for the guy unless they know they're going to be able to sign him to a deal.
That just doesn't make sense. What's good for the team is good for Gase's career as a coach. It might hurt short-term, but he obviously feels like he's rooting a festering undermining of the type of team he wants in Miami.
Gase has spent most of these past two seasons taking responsibility for things. Honest question, do you think a player could have a problem learning and studying the plays?
Gase loves Stills and that is why the FO paid him after last year. If Gase decides that Parker is the WR he wants for the long term next to Stills, there will not be enough money to pay Landry. With Carroo getting more playing time, I think it is very likely he will be the slot WR in 2018 , with Parker and Stills as the outside WR and Landry will likely be playing elsewhere next year. It will come down to who Gase wants, Parker or Landry going forward. Because both of them will not be Miami Dolphins in 2018. Personally I like Landry and would love to see him stay. Yet he is pricing himself out of what the Dolphins can afford to pay for slot receiver. The reality is that in nearly three and a half years in the league, Landry has average less than 11 yards per reception and scored only 16 TD’s. These are nice stats for an above average slot WR in the NFL but is no where near the stats of what a top tier WR averages. If he is willing to sign for $6-7 million a year, then the Dolphins should try and sign him. Anymore than $7 million a year, he just isn’t worth it, IMO.
Yes, players can have a problem with that. But ajayi was not the worst offender. There were lots of other guys who missed way more assignments than ajayi and don't play half as hard as he does. Why is williams still here he missed a lot more assignments than ajayi, what about tunsil? Pounced? Gray? They all have missed assignments. The problem with the offense has not been ajayi, it has been bad oline play and very bad playcalling by gase. He should demote himself from being the playcaller and let the QBs audible. That will do a lot more to get this offense turned around than trading away your best player. But then again letting somebody else call plays and letting the QB audible will hurt gase's ego and his aura of being an offensive genius and we can't have that.
Exactly!!! Gase and his ego is the problem! Any have way decent QB would have audibled out of half of the run plays that Gasy calls instead of running into a 9 man box.
So you don't think having players who are having a hard time with the plays shouldn't affect your playcalling?
Lol, I read your statement twice. I know what you are getting at, because you know, but you might want to re-write that. Double negative and all.
hard to believe his play calling all of a sudden went to the wayside. We knew the OL (personnel) wasn't able to hold blocks, but we may have opened up Pandora's box as to why the running game suffered so much. Gas e said on Fri that Ajayi was going for HR's vs 4-5 yard gains. so if the 4-5 yard gains are there, let's see if the backs take that and leave us in manageable situations
Doesn’t seem like they had a hard time last year. 2nd year in the system and now they don’t get it. I call BS! Only simple minds believe that shlt.
I wouldn't guess. He breaks a lot of tackles and this line needs a back like that. Cutler is now doomed with no running game, unless Drake has some screen magic that we don't know about.
We need more than that. No money left. I would not invest in Parker long term at this point, but you can't just cut value and rebuild each year. Sometimes you have to live with certain players even when you have no intention of resigning them after that rookie contract. I'd at least wait and see how the rest of the season goes. If you pick another outside receiver I would still keep Parker around while the rookie develops. There's no harm in keeping him at 3.4 million when it costs 2 million in dead money to dump him even after June 1. Sorry Dirtylandry, but you post that you want to keep Landry who would be the highest paid slot receiver in football, you want to go after Bell at over 12 million, and on top of that you want to cut a player to create another need and carry the extra 2M in dead money versus keeping him. It just doesn't work like that. If he is hurt for the majority of the games, maybe you need to consider letting him go because you need the roster spot, but this team is tight against the cap so even that might not get rid of him. Bottom line is if he stays another year you get some production (even if he misses time) and you're off the hook with no dead money.
