I think you're over thinking this buddy. You lose Tannehill and it's over. You think New England is making the SB if Tom Brady goes down? Look at what happened to Green Bay when Aaron Rodgers got hurt. Brett Hundley could barely move the ball at times, even at Lambeau. You can't blame the results of what happens to Tannehill's knee on Gase.

Every single team has holes. Every one. New England doesn't have a legitimate run game, struggles on the offensive line, couldn't generate any pass rush until they brought in a 40 year old James Harrison, couldn't get decent snaps from any of their linebackers after Hightower went down so they had to compromise their safeties to play one in the box and that affected a secondary that couldn't cover anywhere that wasn't Gilmore.

I feel your pain man, I do. 34 years of it. But this team has the right man in place. It does. I think Adam Gase is going to be a great coach in this league. I wrote a magazine piece for a UK magazine about 6 months ago where I said he was the best thing to happen to this team since Dan Marino was drafted. And yep, Zach and JT were great but we won nothing with them. Steve Ross - who I spoke to - believes he's found his modern day Shula. He does. The players - and I spoke with Kenny Stills, Michael Thomas and Cam Wake - all speaking on behalf to the units they represented, felt that he was fair, honest, super motivated, gets guys playing, accountable, funny, driven, hard working and a winner. I put a lot of stock in that because it wasn't just fancy rhetoric. I've been in the locker room after wins and after losses. I've seen him with his players, with his coaches and with management and ownership and I include Ross and Marino. And I was at LSU-Alabama and Alabama-Mississippi State this past season and chatted to the Miami scouts that were there and have subsequently chatted to a couple of them away from the game and the franchise sits squarely behind Gase.

Yep, it all comes down to winning but this constant merry go round of hiring, firing, hiring, firing serves zero purpose. Look how many coaches and quarterbacks we've been through since 2008 - just ten years. You need to find a quarterback. If you find one, then you're set fair. And Gase hasn't had the chance to see if Tannehill is his guy because RT has been hurt. But in the small window we saw, Ryan was playing his best football and all we heard last spring and summer from observers, from players and from the media was that Tannehill was looking superb before the injury.

Gase deserves more than two seasons and more than 9 or so games with the franchise passer.

Well my friend, I guess in this situation I would like to think your right but just can't. For me I've seen way to much of confusion and IMO lack of insight to be able to acknowledge your view point and honestly a bit surprised at your confident response. So we will see for Gase and his new coaching staff which fingers crossed is an upgrade from the old departed staff that Gase picked and wanted that did what ????? Gase has at least another year to prove himself so I'm not going to argue that now.

Brady could become a Dolphin and he would not take this team to possibly even the playoffs. Our OL could not even compare to NE's. And you don't think that will have a huge effect on Tannehill performance or the grounds for further excuses of failure if that happens, Oh surprise its the OL ..
We are just Not there to where our concerns for success are about a QB or one or two players...
You want success to a greater degree (not superbowl yet) but focus this year MOSTLY on OL with a acquisition of Norwell, trade Landry up to get Nelson and a pick, 86 Pouncey, pickup Price, Ragnow or Wynn. You want to make RT better heres your real shot. Make Drake better too. Ya sacrificing alot of other areas but this isn't a building of Rome in one day...More like basic 101 football
Christ your input on Gases view of OL is friggin scary and I really don't care how many dolphin players or Ross or those other guys have expressed to you that they think it's Happy Days...Just look at the games and the development for its shouting out at us. You of all people don't need Stills, Wake Ross, etc and other players output and him being a good guy is irrelevant IMO ( I think he's probably a hell of a guy...Head coach ????)look for yourself what do you see???
Every coach at some point ends up behind some kind of 8-ball and the good ones usually can come out of them OK, maybe not necessarily better but not lower down the tubes...Shula perfect season Griese goes out...that what separates the group how you get though the unexpected troubled times. Christ Gase is bringing a whole new coaching crew now truthfully hope for the best and a significant improvement but man unorthodox approach is not even close to being an understatement ..... Hope it works

I guess we just will have to disagree...... for the line your own I feel is familiar and I've seen more than I've wanted to and can not for the life of me expect it to work....No way you can convince me ...again hope I'm tremendously wrong....

Peter Schrager from NFLN’s GMF show did a short bit on everything the Miami Dolphins team went through this past season. They charted out the logistics side of it, etc.

It wasn’t anything we all didn’t already know, but it was just funny to see it laid out that way in a quick, concise, matter of fact kind of way or whatever. Gase and the team certainly had a lot to deal with and overcome. It was extremely impressive to even come out of it with a win.

He was talking about losing your starting QB, the hurricane, having to travel across the country, having to move the families, then travel back across the country, losing the buy week, a coke snorting coach and all of the attention and media frenzy that ensued, the injuries, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,,,,,,,,, Holy Poop, Batman! Amazing we won a game.

Yeah, he certainly has made some mistakes, but I guess they all do. It would definitely be way too early to be calling for his head and saying he should be replaced.

Good points one and all. If everyone remembers correctly, last season even before we lost Tannehill, even before Irma, I told everyone I was worried about the first 5 games of the season.
    Home vs the Buccaneers
    Away at the Chargers
    Away at the Jets
    In London against the Saints
The finally back home against...damn I can’t even remember now. Over 12000 miles travel in that short of a span I knew was going to wear us down

Then add on top of that losing our starting QB
    Then add on the hurricane
Then add on losing our bye

Last season was a nasty turd sandwich dealt to us

For all intents and purposes Henne had a remarkable arm. Thee is nothing wrong with hyping your QB. Especially from what I would almost bet was from his coaches telling him this.

Ross was definitely green, but he's learned a lot and I think he's one of the best owners in the league.

You don't really know what an owners job is, huh?

I thought playoff wins were a QB stat? lol.....Now it's an owner stat?

The entire league thought Philbin would become a good coach.

I do question Tannenbaum's hire, however.

June 2010: Ross insinuates Chad Henne could one day be better than Dan Marino

"Chad has been the greatest quarterback the University of Michigan has had," Ross said, "and I'm sure that I'm hoping, as is everyone else, that he goes down as the greatest quarterback in Miami Dolphins history — and you know what that will mean."

That doesn't say he thought Henne would be better than Marino. He said "I'm HOPING".

June 2010: Ross predicts the Dolphins will play in the Super Bowl. The Dolphins did not play in the Super Bowl.

And? If you don't think your team as a chance to play in the Super Bowl why watch?

The entire article you posted is trash and worthless click bait. If this is where you get your Dolphins' news it's no wonder you're constantly throwing temper tantrums and screaming about the sky falling.

He's really not clueless at all. And if you'd spent even a modicum of time with him or the people that work around him you'd know that. He's one of the world's greatest property moguls, all he's ever done for the Dolphins is provide them with money for players or the stadium or whatever they need. His work around social advocacy through his RI:SE foundation is astonishing as his philanthropy. Wanting to fire the head coach who took his team to the playoffs then struggled in year two because his franchise QB tore his ACL in the summer.......that, I'm afraid, is clueless.

On this board I learned that wins/losses and playoffs are the responsibility of the Owner, GM, Head Coach, QB, MLB and the logo.

I would be happy with either Tremaine Edmunds, Quenton Nelson or a trade down for more picks at #11.

If those two guys aren't there and nobody in the top five falls I think we should trade down. I don't like roquan Smith at that pick, he is way overrated he is not much better than McMillan and McMillan was a second rounder last year. I am not sold on any of the top QBs. If Rosen falls I would take him at 11 but Mayfield and Allen are too flawed to take there. Would rather take Luke faulk in the second or third if we want a QB to develop behind Thill.

You know Boomer if that struggling in year two was only because of the QB's injury you'd have a point. But it blows my mind that you of all people see this team or HC in such a limited way. Your a friggin expert compared to most of us and you maybe right about Gase ( though I don't think so) but your reasoning for him staying is so simplistic and shallow of real reasoning.
What 10-6 and losing in the playoff game to the competitor 30 -12 is admirable? We didn't even look like we belong in that game. 2017 season 6-10 what all just the QB fault?
There's a total screw up of a lot more areas than the QB along with coaching staff, HC and FO taking there amount of responsibility too.

Guess some one held responsible for the QB, cause most of HIS whole coaching staff has been replaced....

Might be a good idea to rethink the "Clueless" because to be fair you actually are not bringing a lot of knowledge to the table beside blaming the QB on everything... at least you didn't blame mother nature and Irene...and our ruff traveling itinerary....

I really don't care about boomers point of view of him being a great guy and spending money.None of that **** matters to me.How about putting the right people in charge to win!Thats all that matters! So far he is a failure as an owner!

There are a lot of psychological studies that show that peole will give up on a task sooner if they feel they have been given an unfair situation, and they’ll keep trying longer if they think the game is rigged in their favor.

What that laundry list, which was widely repeated in the media, shows is that it primed the Dolphin’ minds into thinking they had an unfavorable situation vis a vis the rest of the league. Which in turn made it more difficult for them collectively to power through difficult situations. The “I’m going to show them wrong” motivational tool only works if you are actually showing them wrong. I’m not talking about the players, but the coaches and FO too.

To my mind the Dolphins, even accounting for their situation, under performed on the field, especially the defense. I’m not going to put that on Gase though, as Boomer says there is a lot of evidence to show he was doing and saying all the right things to counteract the situation.

Been reading Boomer for years and truthfully look forward to it every time. He is way ahead of pretty much everybody in here and even the other boards for he puts a huge effort into all of this. Always brings insight and info as no other. His insight is so far ahead of me but in this case I feel strong and really find hard to understand his level of thought in this particular area. It does seem as he is on the Fins payroll with his re- pore but in the past he's usually been way ahead of the pack....but I seen years of whats going on now and again don't see enough of improvement to feel even some what comfortable with Gase.

Is he infallible and unable to make mistakes, no, no one is ....

On Ross, agree he's had his share of plunders and deserves to take some of the responsibility and needs to figure out the right people to put in there (not an easy job either) but Money is never a Dolphin problem and We could be much worse off....

So how many wins/sbs/etc. does it take for you to consider an owner/coach/qb not a failure?

Also, how long do you give a owner/hc/qb before you consider them losers? One season? 3? 5?

Focusing on JUST the highlighted portion above I have but ONE question...

Who was the quarterback in that game? Was it our franchise quarterback that led us on a 6 game winning streak and put us in a position to even make the playoffs with a backup quarterback at the helm?

Some of you folks are just so blindly angry that you're just that...blind and can't see the trees for the forest

As for the debacle of the 2017 season, if you only see the loss of Tannehill being the obstacle to our season's issues as the only mitigating circumstance we who disagree with you are discussing, once again....blind. I've clearly illustrated the many obstacles our team faced last season and the loss of Tannehill was only ONE of the circumstances

We lost in the playoffs to a better team on the road. We were playing a Hall of Fame QB vs a career back up in Matt Moore. But we were also driving to get right back in the game before half time when Moore fumbled. We were certainly belonging at that point. I'm not sure what else there is to say. Facts are facts, my man.

I don't see anything as shallow of real reasoning. I think I've pretty much explained real reasoning over the past two pages.

6-10 last season was in very large part down to the fact that Tannehill was hurt. I'd take four more wins with Ryan at the helm. We'd have beaten the Jets in week 3 and I'm certain we wouldn't have lain down in London as we did in week 4 or in Baltimore in week 6. We'd have beaten the Raiders and the Bucs with Tannehill. All of a sudden that's a payoff berth. So yes, losing the QB really did matter that much.

As for the personal jibes around being clueless, stay classy Walter. You're better than that.

Yes I did say clueless as an nfl owner.Property has nothing to do with football correct?Everyone of these owners are smart as hell thats what makes them billionaires.Does this make them all great owners?
In 9 years zero playoff wins does mean greatness in my book.If you want to say he tries hard and is a great guy then I will agree with you.
I want really bad for him and this organization to become great and hopefully it all starts in 2018!
