If hes available at 11 - what do y all think. Look good in playoffs even though they lost - definately intelligent guy who loves the game and is a hell of an athlete Just saw other thread Mods delete
I don’t like Mayfield. Out of all the QB prospects, he was arguably surrounded by the most talent and supporting cast. He’s short, has subpar speed, and the off field issues worry me the most. Is he mature enough? I don’t think so. If we’re going all in for a QB, then I’d like to see them call upon Josh Rosen or Josh Allen. I’d even be good with Lamar Jackson, since he played in a pro style offense with Petrino.
None of the QB's will fall to 11 but I'd have Mayfield in a heartbeat. I'd also welcome Allen, Darnold or even Jackson but none of them will be available by the time we are up. Looks like we're stuck with ol' RT for the foreseeable and we'll fall even further behind the Bills and Jets if the Bills take Mayfield and the Jets take any one of the others.
Jackson most likely won't go until the 2nd round and that's only because this is a QB starved league.
Bills traded up to 12. I presume they're going to try and move up more and go QB. I'm guessing Colts? Mayfield most likely to still be on the board then but not sure about the other main QB options.
No idea how to incorporate Tweets but from Albert Breer Source: Bills sending LT Cordy Glenn and the 21st pick to the Bengals for the 12th overall pick. Buffalo also sending their fifth-round with Cincinnati's sixth-rounder coming.
I bet they try and sling that 12th pick to get in front of Miami for a qb? watch!!! Miami will stand by and let everyone get signed and trades to happen without ever getting involved lol.
Well....if the last week means anything they are not going to sit idly by. I mean...have you been keeping up? lol
well I guess your right, I mean making moves to "help" us make moves as in signing good FA and moving up. If Mayfield is the guy they want I don't see why we didn't try and sling the 11th and Landry and something else to move the browns 4th or try something lol
This might actually benefit the Dolphins if they have 0 interest in a QB. Providing that the Bills move up to 3rd (Seems to make the most sense as they need to be high enough to get one of the big boys without relying on others jumping and Colts have enough holes to make the deal) then it allows the Browns to pick the QB of their choice at #1 and probably still get Barkley at #4. Either way, the fact that the Bills move up would mean there's another team selecting a QB in the top 10 which means that one of the other positions drops outside the top 10. We've got enough holes that going BPA suddenly looks very appealing.
Mayfield is a terrific passer, hugely accurate and a leader. And a winner. He's been passed over because he was too small in HS and it bothered him so much that he went out and won a state championship. He didn't get a single FBS offer so walked on a Texas Tech and all he did was beat out the starter and the back-up and his back-up as a true freshman to win BIG 12 Freshman of the Year. After leaving TT he went to Oklahoma and was so good as the practice QB - because he had to sit out for a year under transfer rules - that Bob Stoops took him off the scout team because he was killing the first team defense. So he decided he'd get ready for the time when he'd win the starting job by being the best damn practice player the programme had ever seen. So he'd sneak onto the field so that he could go through the next day’s practice script. The security guards at the stadium would boot him out after a while but eventually they let him stay. So he would spend hours in the darkness on the field to picture himself leading the offense. Then he managed to get the security code for the indoor practice facility, so he started going there at night. He’d be out on the field by himself, calling out imaginary signals to his imaginary receivers so they could get open against the imaginary defense. Then he beat out the incumbent starter and finished 3rd, 4th and 1st in the Heisman in three incredible seasons. The stuff about off field are nothing. Yeah he got drunk and ran around a bit - the same as 99.9% of college students do every weekend. He planted a flag at midfield at Ohio State - I spoke to Lincoln Riley on the phone last week for a magazine article and he said he - Riley - "loved that". Don't overblow passion for anything else. He's as committed a player as people have been at the facility. I have a friend who used to play MLB for the Sooners when Kenny Stills was there: he's around the team a bit these days. Says that Baker changed the school and the team more than any player in generations. He'd QB1 for me for these and lots of other reasons I could bore you stupid about.
Boomer I don't know a lot about Mayfield but I have heard and up for opinions that he mostly had all day and was rarely pressured to make these throws to the point of some evaporators having concerns over.. Which still having that accuracy a huge plus. But in the next level its a whole different ball of wax so to speak. Anyway don't think we are even looking at the QB's in the 1st rd....just a feeling...
Yeah, but it would take a lot. I would suspect the best bet would be dealing Tannehill for picks. Arizona for the 15. Denver for the 5. Or by giving away future ones. I doubt very much he gets out of the first 6 picks.
That's simply not the case. Watch the games. He gets the same about of pressure as any QB and when he does get it, he deals with it. He has excellent feet and can extend the play and manipulate the pocket.
The issue with that is if we have a season similar to this one then we're no better off pick wise and hoping for another QB class to be good.
Nice to see your so high on the guy and we have a shot at him, trust your judgement here. Just hope if we land him he doesn't have to live in that 2 second and get rid of the ball OL world. I mean I wouldn't even feel comfortable with a Marino having to have to deal with that OL. And highly doubt there are any Marinos out there... Damn thats like having a passing QB who has no accuracy.... Think this overhaul should have started with a big time upgrade of the OL...sacrificing most everything else this year...and at least having a future OL to not worry about whoever is back there ....I guess I'm just old school...
He is very undersized, is not much of an athlete, and has a very average arm. He was more a product of playing with a lot of talent around him and in a great system. He did not play in a pro style offense and most of his throws were rinky dink short and intermediate stuff. He has not shown that he has an NFL arm.
My completely personal, subjective, take on QB's... Mayfield no. Attitude is an issue. Best QB's are level headed, cool, intelligent, disciplined. Doesn't strike me that way. Allen and Rosen - really not sure. Usual potentially good QB gamble. Jackson - Have had a feeling he'll do well and be better than many expect. If Miami draft a QB I hope isn't Mayfield. I hope they don't move up to get one. If they draft at 11 I want to see a certified talent. Overall of like to see maximum value in this draft and hope to see them take advantage of some sort of scenario that appears to trade back and get two picks in the first. Lamar Jackson later on would intrigue me. The other QB's I'd have to wait and see and if drafted at 11 hope they prove to be solid talent.
I'm assuming that for a QB to be successful in Buffalo (especially come Nov/Dec) they would need a guy with serious arm talent throwing into that kind of weather. So Allen would make sense.
The kid has amazing footwork, which is why I'm so high on him (along with his passion for the game) and what separates upper echelon QB's from the middling ones.
His system wasn’t designed to make those type of throws so we would have no way of knowing. What we do know is he is the most accurate passer and even if he was the least pressured, he still has the best numbers throwing under pressure. I can’t find the chart but someone posted here earlier how his numbers throwing under pressure barely drop off as opposed to the other 3 guys who’s qbr drops off drastically. His completion % of 71.4 and his passer efficiency rating of 203.3 we’re both the highest in college football. His ball placement, poise, touch, accuracy, etc. are unmatched. A system can hide a players arm but not whether or not they can throw a beautiful pass. This is all subjective, but if you really watch with an unbiased mindset, I’m not sure how you can disagree.
Quite possibly. I put him in the same mould as Deshaun Watson and I think a few teams will have noted how effective he was until his injury and will be looking quite closely at Jackson. All in all, I don't think he'd be a Gase fit so I wouldn't expect him to land here anyway.
That’s a negative, ghost rider. 99.9% of the college students at any given school are NOT charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, along with fleeing and resisting arrest. That is not typical behavior and something to simply be brushed under the carpet, because of the archaic idea behind “kids being kids.” That’s not standard routine by any stretch of the imagination. That’s spinning a fallacious narrative because you’re enamored with a quarterback prospect in the NFL draft. Also, there’s the matter of Baker Mayfield grabbing his crotch on national television, and mouthing ‘F—-YOU’ at the Kansas sideline during their game. Lincoln Riley rightly didn’t start him for the game against West Virginia, and stripped his team captain status for that lovely little incident. Now put this immature young man in the position of being the face of a franchise, and making millions of dollars. Certainly a gamble no matter what you argue, and given his checkered history. He clearly still has some growing up to do, and needs to learn how to keep his emotions in check. I want no part of Baker Mayfield in a Miami Dolphin uniform. No thank you.
