Nice one. Thanks for the explanation and the graphics showing the difference in the shades down the years. Very interesting. I didn't say 'original aqua' I said 'old aqua' but that's by the by. My actual preference, going on the colour chart, is the darker shade of 89-96, which is hardly surprising I guess, because that was being used when I first started following the Dolphins in 90/91. I'm also ok with the one you describe as 'Hunter Green' (97-12). I always thought those uniforms looked great under lights. Of all the shades there, I think 2013 is the worst. Yes, it is close to the original colour as you say but it is sufficiently different for me to consider it as inferior. While I'm here, I'll nail my colours to the mast regarding the logo too. My preference is 1997-2012 followed by the previous two. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea (or 'joe' over your way) but for me, 97-12 is iconic and instantly recognisable, much more so than the current one in my opinion.
great work but i don't get how once the colors are transferred to jerseys they don't look as close as the chart show. https://spark.adobe.com/page/Xg9Pl/
Light and surrounding colors change everything. In the following image, A & B are the exact same color. Spoiler: Proof
I think this would look pretty good and be a nice compromise to both sides of the debate. I'd love to see it, if there is anyone with some photoshop skills who could mock it up. It would be interesting to see it in both the current color scheme they use for the throw backs as well as a lighter one similar to the current colors or the second generation colors.
Love Key fins idea of no Helmet, I would like them to use the orange jerseys again as well. The all orange uni's where legit.
I agree with the all orange being hideous but the coral jerseys and white pants, I did like that uniform.
Yeah, tweak it back to the 80s, all the way, thanks Dolphin franchise than never actually listens to the fans. I would bet if you polled (even a sample size) of the fans 80% would pick this logo/these unis over the current ones.
Should be darker orange around the burst, tweak the current dolphin to look a bit more menacing. I feel the uniforms going to have more color going forward youth like the neon brighter colors in fashion so I’m guessing a more vibrant teal and orange grey uniform.
The Dolphins light bluish-green color is aqua, as in aquamarine, not teal. It's aqua which has a root definition of water, as in what dolphins swim in . . .aqua, folks.
I agree Fin D..The old cartoon dolphin looked stupid and for kids.I like the new dolphin one hell of a lot better then the one for children and I have been a fan since 1970..
So what!!!!!YES I CAN!!!! It is still a dumb *** stupid cartoon for children helmet..If that is what you like I feel bad for you..As for being a grandpal and a fan since 1970 when I was still a kid even I thought back then that the helmet was stupid and childish..
It's instantly recognisable. A design classic compared to the generic can of tuna logo that we have now.
Tony, there’s no animal based logo on any NFL team that isn’t going to look either cartoonish or a bland stencil. The idea then becomes to design said logo that’s eye appealing and instantly recognizable. The Dolphins logo of old met those requirements
No it didn't. The logo of old is "recognizable" because the Dolphins won more and were popular but mostly you have the benefit of time to say that. On it's own, the original logo is objectively terrible and the one after is subjectively terrible. The one now is bland, but that is its worse crime. You like because you are used to it. No other reason. Cartoon look doesn't really mean anything, neither does stencil. The reason they don't is because many different looks and feels can exist under "cartoon look" or "stencil".
I ABSOLUTELY HATE those orange uniforms........ I not saying some other version might be ok....but the ones they have worn are absolutely hideous..........
Have enough years passed to change the alternates into the standards? When they debuted,I think in that Monday night game against the Giants (damn pylon cam), I think everyone realized that should be the next step. I say this as having liked the initial change.
What an incredibly pompous post. He only likes it because he's used to it? Why do I prefer it as well when I grew up with the awful cartoon logo? Shouldn't I prefer that because I'm "used to it"? Didn't you defend that graffiti "art" in Brooklyn that got torn down in lounge? Why are you the arbiter of what is deemed visually appealing?
lol. First of all I never said if the graffiti was good or not. I argued the graft artist's rights. You, cried cause you didn't;lt like the art so it shouldn't;lt be legal. Talk about being pompous. I don't care if someone likes the logo or not. The original logo is objectively terrible from a construction/craftsmanship standpoint. That is fact, like it or not. You can still like it, but that doesn't change the fact it was done terribly. Like the Yugo, you may still drive one and love the car, but that doesn't change the fact that it was huge piece of ****.
Yeah, no. If you like something it is subjective. That something's craftsmanship is objective. The people with egos cannot get this very simple concept because they can't get past their own bias.
Are you describing a poorly made t shirt with the logo on it? Your OPINION of the quality of the logo itself is subjective.
