Derrick Jones Jr. looks awesome, adding to our logjam at the 2/3 spots lol. Richardson, TJ, Dion, McGruder, DJJ, *Wade?? We'll see a lot of no-PG lineups again: Winslow surrounded by combinations of these guys who can handle and create a little. And, well...we only have 1 point guard anyway. Seeing Bam get opportunities to handle-shoot-pass is really fun, even if they're things he probably won't do much of in the reg season right now. Surprisingly skilled. He's a useful player now, and he has an outside chance at becoming a borderline All-Star down the road, I think. The youth, athleticism, versatility, and defense on this roster is fantastic. The training and player development systems we have here are really something. Just need a centerpiece star...
The #1 high school PG from 2 years ago went undrafted. Morey may have found something. We need a backup for CP3. Duval made one hell of a first impression...
Well theyre not gonna take any contracts. By waiving Carmelo they will save 100 million in salary and taxes.. Their tax situation is really incredible considering they got destroyed by Utah.. But to my point is, i only want carmelo here to rid ourselves of a bad contract. I dont want him taking up any playing time from our young guys. I dont care if hes getting the minimum. We need to find out what theyre made of. Only player i want taking any PT is wade. So hes more than welcomed to join lebron.
Woj says the Thunder are going to try to trade Melo. Problem is I don’t think we have anything they’ll want.
Depends. Supposedly Billy Donovan really likes Dion, and Tyler Johnson may actually be a decent fit. They're a team that probably won't care about contract length because OKC isn't really a destination. He has a trade kicker, though, so I'm not sure how much cap relief they'd get unless they added another player. If another team wants Whiteside, that could be a potential 3 team deal.
I like TJ there because their offense is trash when they go to the bench. If they like Waiters then he's a nice sparkplug off the bench who can really help if the want to try a small lineup with scorers. I wonder if Presti would want him back.
Why would anyone want Carmelo? I hated his game when he was in his prime, and now? Is his contract expiring or something?
Parker's gone. Anderson has signed an offer sheet. And then all this with Kawhi... I'm dumbfounded. Feels like the end of an era for the Spurs, and maybe dark times ahead once Pop retires. The Spurs have built their success on great draft picks and developing talent, but lately they've not been able to keep their talent. Not at all sure what to expect or think now....
I’ve been waiting a long time for the spurs to fall apart and I can’t say I’m sad about it. Gotta respect Pop though. I can’t see him sticking around through a rebuild.
Yep last year of his deal, but why would OKC trade him just to take back salary? That would defeat the purpose of why they want him gone. Miami needs to give all of our minutes to our young guys. If we suck, we suck, but I’ll be entertained watching our guys get better and knowing JT Barrett in a heat jersey is the result.
The Heat were without their best player, and their third best player. And I feel like this is a weird thing to try and talk **** about, lol. Almost every player from both teams won't be NBA players for anyone, let alone the Heat or Pels.
Because of the way the luxury tax is written, every dollar they save is like $2.50 off the cap. So it could be appealing for them to still take back some money because the savings would still be quite big. You could also find a third team to help make it work. On a different, but related note, Bismack Biyombo was just traded. Yes, the backup center making $17M tfor each of the next two seasons. If he can be moved, Miami should be able to move some of their contracts.
Knicks summer league was what you needed to be watching. One exec already came out and told The Athletic "Knox is a ****ing stud". Thats the exact quote. Mitchell Robinson and Allonzo Treir showed well earning praise from Fizdale. Robinson had 9 and 8 and 4 blocks and could have had more layups had the knicks passing been crisper. He looks a lot like Clint Capela.
I caught some of the game. Knox definetly jumped off the screen. I think you guys got a steal. Another guy that stood out for me yesterday was Wendell Carter. His defense is nasty. Rockets play today. I am keeping my eye on Trevon Duval and Isaiah Hartenstein (12 pts, 11 rebs, 4 blocks, 3 steals in only 25 mins in game 1). Hartenstein has slimmed down and looks like he may take Nene's backup spot if he keeps this up.
Knox looks like a stud. His game is going to explode with the spacing and style of the NBA, much like Tatum last year. Great frame, smooth stroke, some explosion, gets to his spots. Good stuff. Knicks should be concerned with Ntilikina as a point guard though. Doesn't look like he can be an on-ball creator PG, seems more suited to be an off-ball guard/wing. I love a lot of his game and he's definitely a very useful NBA player, but it seems unlikely that he can be a starting point guard who initiates offense. Frank would be AMAZING next to Kyrie, if such a thing transpired next year, just sayin...
Was Ntilakina unimpressive, though? I didn't watch the game, but I saw people on social media trashing him.
People are idiots. Ntilikina is 20. Tony Parker G1 of year 2 regular season threw up an 0-10. I didnt see the game in full but ive learned 97% of people dont know what theyre watching. Ntilikina is always going to look unimpressive to people who want an aggressive scoring PG as opposed to a Pass first PG.
I agree that Frank and Kyrie woukd compliment each other but if youre looking for a Kyrie/Westbrook style game its not going to happen. What he needs to do is be locked im a room with film of Steve Nash and Jason Kidd and learn to be that type of player and work on his jumper
He's still looks limited off the dribble, doesn't get by his defender into the paint to set people up, rarely gets to the rim. There were times last night where he had Trae Young in front of him and Frank hardly tried to take him off the dribble. He plays tentative and upright with the ball too often, doesn't really stress the defense. I love him as an all-around player. I think he's got DPOY potential, and he'll be an above-avg 3pt shooter real soon. But as a guy who's going to handle the ball a lot and pressure a defense, there are some legit questions. He's more 3&D right now, George Hill, Mario Chalmers type...though he will eventually be better than both of them imo. Just saying that the Knicks may need more options for ball-handling and running offense for the near future. Maybe eventually he develops all these areas. Frank is actually still 19 at this point haha. One of the youngest guys in his draft class last year. He's much closer in age to this current rookie class.
Pretty clear the Heat are stuck with Hassan Whiteside and completely ****ed for at least the next year.
Just have to sit tight. The money will come off the books next year then Riley can make a push. No one other than the Warriors is winning next year.
1. Derrick Jones Jr., will slam it down over anyone, even his own teammate. 2. Why is DJJ still playing? He's already made the team, and right now he's shooting 4-4 with 9 PTS, 2 RBS in 7 minutes. 3. Duncan Robinson continues to be the best shooter on the court for either team.
So, Wayne Ellington not being on a team yet is strange to me. Is he waiting out to see if we can bring him back or is the market just not that strong for him? It's hard for me to believe that he's not being offered anything.
Theres not a lot of teams with cap space and some of the ones that are arent desireable. Next year youre going to see a lot more teams with space + the expected 7-8m lift on the cap.
