It appears that Matt Burke was embarrassed by the defensive performance of last week's game. He seems, genuinely, completely, and rightfully, disgusted by the performance of the defense. That is encouraging to hear! Parker is now hurt again. We should move on from him. We have young, hungry WRs...Parker just can't get it together. Email every team, ask them what rd pick they'll give for him, and be done. Glad to see the team this week show some intensity in practice. It's about time. After the Bucs game, we looked like a Philbin coached team. No fire, no passion, no attitude. Hopefully Gase inspired it. It sucks to be negative, but other than a few rookie bright spots, it was ugly. Glad the coaches lit a fire. Let's hope they play with passion vs Carolina.
I read that Parker broke a finger, he's likely out for most of pre-season. It got caught in Howard's shoulder pad as they went up for the ball and...spoiler alert...Howard owned his *** for the 192nd consecutive time.
The three practices I went to we’re easy on the players, gase saying the camp has been intentionally harder is suspect to me..I can’t imagine practices being any easier than what I saw.
We arent gonna get anything for parker. Itll be up to gase to figure out if he is worthy of taking up a roster slot. In the end, he will make the team... whether he deserves it or not
Seems like it They play soft. The Fins have to be the easiest team in the league to recover from....no one hits. No one lays wood. Its disheartening.
My hope is Gase takes the gloves off this year. IMO, He seems to have a similar style to Doug Peterson. Last year we seemed super conservative. I understand why, but this year I would like to see us be really aggressive on offensive and take more chances. I think the players would respond more to that play style. Playing conservative just puts everyone to sleep and gives the impression you don’t have confidence in your team. IMO, Playing aggressively and confidently keeps everyone engaged, focused, and raises expectations all around and for each play called.
I doubt we can trade Parker while he's injured. That may have secured his spot on the team. I would have liked to have gotten something for him and given Ford and Owosu their shot.
If his finger still isn't healed by the final cutdown, maybe they could put him on IR, designated to return. In the meantime, keep Ford and Owusu.
So, you analyzed all 32 teams in regards to most hard hits, and most incidents of laying wood, and have objectively concluded they occur less frequently with the Dolphins than any other team? If so, would you kindly post the totals from top to bottom for every team in these categories?
Its crazy how fans are turning so hard against DVP. You may not know this but Parker is our #1 WR. We should NOT trade him or attempt to replace him with Ford or Owusu. Parker demands the attention of opposing defenses #1 CB when he is on the field. Only Parker does that. Nobody else. I wonder why. So you get rid of your best receiving threat who has you in your feelings because he hasn't yet reached top 5 in the NFL for someone who is much less of a threat. Go ahead, watch how nobody gets open when Parker is on the bench. Parker went 100mph during the preseason Bucs game and was open, blocked and ran good routes. Go rewatch it. It wasn't his fault that RT did not throw the ball his way.
It's not that folks are turning on him- it's the fact that he's been injured every single year. It's that the coaches have called him soft for not taking care of himself, eating right, and putting in the time to stay healthy. We all think he could be a great receiver and we just want him to take that next step. This year is different though because Howard has been dominating him in practice. If you look at last season (before he got hurt), the word around training camp is that he was the most improved player and just about unstoppable 1:1. We didn't see that in regular season though except in small flashes. To go from "unstoppable" to completely shut down is definitely a worry....and of course he's back on IR once again.
He is not on IR. Coaches alluding to him being soft was well over a year ago. None of that stuff popped up this year. I remember Gase specifically speaking about how Parker has done everything right this year. Howard may have dominated him in practice but its still just PRACTICE. Where was that Howard during the Bucs preseason game? He couldn't cover his assignment. Meanwhile Parker is doing his job running good routes, blocking and not playing like someone who seems to be this trash receiver everyone all of sudden wants to get rid of. None of his coaches this year have said one thing negative about DVP. Again, if he is such a piece of crap receiver, why is he still WR1? Why hasn't he been demoted to second or third team? Why does he STILL command the attention of the CB1 on gameday?
The "Parker is always injured" remarks aren't really that true. Yes, he's has some injuries, he's been out because of them, but he's also played through some. However, his injuries haven't been all that great or numerous. After all, he has played in or been active for 43 of 48 possible games in his 3 year career. Parker's problems, IMO, are mental. And I don't know enough about him to claim one way or another if he can get over his mental ineptitude.
He's missed 7 games in 3 years with Miami. 2016 he played in 15 out of 17(most active year) and managed 4 TDs, his best statistical season.
He is listed as our #1 WR on the depth chart and thats where it ends. He isn't targeted like a #1 WR, he doesn't play like a #1 WR, he doesn't produce like a #1 WR. His production of the last 3 years would be extremely easy to replace. Devone Bess had better production than Parker in his 1st 3 years. Richard Matthews has had way better production than Parker the last 3 years. It's time to stop looking at his size and speed and start seeing his on field production which really isn't that great.
You claim to having already done the work. Since I am sure you were unbiased and objective, your results are probably accurate. So, why not just post them here to share with your fellow Dolphins fans?
He played in 13 out of 16 games in 2015. He played in 16 out of 17 games in 2016. He played in (or was active for) 15 games out of 16 games in 2015 My math tells me that's 5 missed games.
Love all these guys who think every other GM is a complete moron. "You'll give me Parker and it will only cost me a second round pick? Sign me up!" Get real.
lol....My mistake. I haven't slept in about 3 days and I, for some reason, keep writing just the 3 games he missed his first season. lol
How many games did he play in 2016? 15 out of 17. In 2015, if he didn't touch the field he didn't play, 14 of out 16. He didn't play in 7 games out of a possible 49 in his NFL career. Edit: Im using nfl.com
Why not just post any empirical evidence you have, like the poster did pumping up DVP? You seem to feel entitled...I dont feel obligated. Sorry for your luck.
Not defending Parker, let me put that out there up front but there is a nagging question that's like a splinter in my mind... With how apparently a prima dona Jarvis Landry was here in Miami....could it be POSSIBLE that Parker wasn't targeted as often as he could have been; plays that would have him involved more not called because of Landry? I'm just asking
I'm just disappointed you are being selfish with your empirical evidence. Or perhaps you do not have any, and your assertions that the Dolphins are the least physical team in the league was just you talking out your arse.
If this is true I see it one of two ways. DVP couldn't overcome Landry as our primary WR which tells me all I need to know about DVP. Or Gase let Landry dictate plays and let Landry control the offense which means Gase is charmin soft. Someone like Antonio Brown or to a lesser degree Keenan Allen would still get theirs if they had to share the field with Landry.
Let’s just hope that middle finger was DeVante’s “twitter finger” . Dude would be much better off without social media running his life.
Not playing isn't the same as being hurt. The assertion is that he's always injured. However, has missed 5 games due to injury in 3 seasons. For comparison (missed games due to injury): Julio Jones- Missed 14 games in his first 3 seasons due to injury Dez Bryant- 3 games Larry Fitz- 3 games OBJ- 5 games Antonio Brown- 10 games
Sorry I missed the assertation. Our No 1 receiver is only a decoy. Healthy or not, he isn't productive. He has value but doesn't make this offense great. I give him a shorter leash than Tannehill, which are both pretty tight this season. All that means is that I have low expectations for both.
