"Expect a less-filtered, more vocal Ryan Tannehill this season. He talks here about why he decided ‘screw it,' I'm going to be me this year no matter what anybody else thinks."

Tannehill does indeed possess the talent to be a GOOD quarterback in the league and for the Dolphins. It’s great to actually see this type of motivation from him. Hopefully it’ll rub off on other players and elevate their level of play. Tannehill though has to play SMART football and not try and force anything that isn’t there.

I don’t want to see screw it turn into I just screwed us

Haven't heard anything since, but if you check the training camp thread, Galant is pretty good at posting the local beat writer's twitter feeds on camp shenanigans.

No other reported occasions of people being thrown out. The article in the op of this thread pretty much summarises what other players and coaches have said.

We'll have to wait and see how this "more vocal" Tannehill materializes.

Where has this narrative that Tannehill isn't accurate come from?

Well, he threw 16 passes the other night and only completed 13. So up to 3/16ths of his passes were inaccurate. =)

Just stop. Tannehill has never been a bad deep ball thrower, and he's improved that part of his game even more.

What, did you have this bookmarked in hopes that he would have a long td someday? Some life you have. Well, I guess that long pass makes up for that god awful sh*tty pass that he threw that got picked off in the end zone. I bet this season he'll have more interceptions than 75 yard tds.

So a 75 yard TD has to exceed ANY interception. No one, not Brady, not Rogers is going to have that. Talk about moving the goal posts. Sheesh. Why can’t you just admit the guy had a pretty dang good game and we will see if he can keep it going?

Wrong about what? I stand by my statement that most of the time, he is not very accurate with the long ball. He had one EXCELLENT long pass yesterday. With him that's the exception, not the rule

But you're wrong. That's been wrong since Tannehill entered the league. We've wasted countless hours on this site arguing this"deep ball issue" citing the stats and showing how ridiculous the notion that Tannehill is a bad deep ball thrower is, yet here we are, with people still maintaining that Tannehill is inaccurate in deep balls. Ludicrous.

Someone was arguing today that Tannehill isn't accurate on intermediate passes...again, wrong. That's been a strength of his since day one.

Actually I think Brady's the only one who's ever done that. That is, I think he's the only QB who did NOT have more interceptions than 75+ yard TD's in a given season, assuming we put some minimum requirements like 100 passing attempts in that season.

In 2016, Brady had 28 TD's and 2 INT's for a season rating of 112.2, and 2 of those TD's were 75+ yarders: a 79 yard TD to Chris Hogan against Baltimore on Dec. 12th and a 77 yard TD pass to Julian Edelman against Miami on Jan 1st, 2017.

I don't think anyone around here will say RT is a finished product or a top tier QB yet, but I do think some people underrate his play. Sure, there are a lot of things he needs to improve on, but there are also a lot of things he does well. We won the game and everybody from Gase on down to us fans are saying we still have more work to do. We are happy with the win, but no one is satisfied. Everyone is working hard to get better. As long as we come out to compete and play with high energy I will be happy. It's when we come out flat, are lack luster, and **** the bed that I get pissed off. The game yesterday was far from that. It wasn't perfect, but we competed all day long. I am really impressed with our energy after the rain delays. If it were me, I probably would have fell asleep. We won. RT and his supporting cast, the defense, and ST played well enough to win. It's on to the stanking Jets!

I've been on the record all these years as a fairly harsh Tannehill critic. At the same time though, I think people have to state why you don't like someone and have reasoning behind it. My biggest peeves was his footwork in the pocket and not moving well when pressured, plus he did miss a lot of deep balls with the various speedsters we had. Looking back though, you'd see guys like Wallace break their stride and then blame the QB for not being accurate. The drops weren't all on the receivers but there were quite a few that could have been caught with 100% effort.

2016 changed me though. His pocket presence improved, and this season it almost looks like a strength. Gase said recently that RT evolved more last year on the bench that at any other point because he was allowed to process what was happening in 3rd person without the pressure. Cutler was also an EXCELLENT QB choice because his best trait was Tannehill's worst....that sliding in the pocket stuff. If you didn't see major changes in 2016 though once we got the line halfway sorted out, it's because you didn't want to see it. That loss he had against NE in 2016 still reminds me of the battles folks like Marino and Elway used to have- he was sensational down that stretch.

Additionally, he had one of the highest deep ball accuracy stats in the league in 2016- his deep passing is just not a valid excuse to not like the guy. That pass last night was sensational as well, and he only went deep twice total. If he can hit a TD and a pick every two bombs I'll take that every day of the week- any coach would.

Is Tannehill equal to Dan Marino? Nope. But Marino didn't have a solid run game or a young feisty defense either. We need Tannehill to be a game manager that limits mistakes to let our skill players move the chains.....he doesn't have to be the superstar. And in that regard, I think he's the perfect QB for this team at this time.

Do me a favor- reserve judgement for RT for three more weeks. Get back to us after the NE game and tell us what you think then. If you still think he's a bum then I'll be fully on your side....but I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll be 4-0 at that point and a lot of viewpoints will change.

you guys are on here puffing out your chests cause he had one fantastic, awesome, beautiful long pass yesterday. I thought that was great too. Let me ask you, why are you ignoring what i said about that GOD AWFUL, HORRIBLE interception he threw in the end zone? How accurate was that? That wasnt even close.
