The vast majority of my friends are Eagles fans. I watched them all cry like babies after the Super Bowl. Nick Foles was the hero of Philly. The defense was incredible. The offense would get even better. A repeat was right around the corner.

Fast forward to the beginning of this season? They sound like Browns fans. Foles is a loser. Wentz isn't what he used to be. The defense is sleeping. The offensive line is garbage. Pederson lost his swagger. I sit there and laugh my *** off as they complain, knowing they won the freaking Super Bowl with the same team they have this year. They sound ridiculous. They sound disconnected from reality, because instead of stepping back, taking a breath and letting reality creep back in all they want to do is panic.

    Panic. Panic. Panic.

    The Miami Dolphins are 3-1.

The Miami Dolphins have a one game division lead.

If you asked me at the beginning of the year if I'd be happy with a 3-1 start, I'd say absolutely every single time.

Yes, we just got manhandled. Yes, it was embarrassing. Yes, the injuries are beginning to pile up. There is still no need to go into full-panic, fire everyone mode.

This kind of loss stings, but it's being completely taken out of perspective. One bad week does not make a bad team. Let's keep in mind that last week the Patriots lost 26-10 to the Lions. Belichick didn't light the stadium on fire and call it quits. He didn't...you guessed it...panic. They just kept going about their business because they understand that this is a marathon, not a sprint...and then they beat our *** at home.

It's not a sprint. It's not time to panic. The foundations of this team are solid for the first time in 20 years. The rest is on the way. Just. Don't. Panic.

There's no use. Even if they won the game the same people wouldn't be impressed.

It's just about blind hatred for Tannehill/Gase.

It's really easy for people who don't understand statistics to look back and say "Team A has lost to Team B 10 times out 10 over the last decade. Therefore Team B will definitely win."

The fact is that a franchise in the NFL changes practically every year. There are a couple exceptions, of which the Patriots are one, but there is literally NOTHING to suggest that games we won/lost before Gase and co. arrived have anything to do with games we will play in the future. Every team may as well just change their name every year, because it's basically a brand new franchise every September.

The slide has begun! We will be 3-3 before u know it.We r back to the same ****ty offensive line we had last year minus pouncey.Tanny is not good enough to carry this team and now we might be down jones and McCain. The Pat's could survive this but we aren't the pats.7-9 here we come.It was fun while it lasted.

I personally think we're about to go on a 4-game win streak...but what do I know? We did just lose a game so that definitely proves we're the worst team in the league like everyone said last month.

In regards to the OP, I too hail from Pennsylvania and am primarily a PA state based fan. I love the 76ers, I love the Phillies, Penn St is my favorite football team, I know Philadelphia fans and as bad as we (as Miami Fans) are at knee jerk reactions, Philly fans go from idle to full throttle hate as soon as things go wrong. I imagine they are furious right now about the Eagles. As far as the 76ers go, Markelle Fultz is the main target right now. Anyway....Yes...I agree with OP...Need to step back from the ledge and put things into perspective. We're 3-1, we have a favorable schedule for the next six weeks. We can definitely win some more games and really make a push. My biggest concern right now is the injuries to key players at key positions that are starting to mount. That is really the only thing stopping us from winning ten games this year.

I think you’re overestimating this loss as the reason for questions. Yeah, it was bad, but it happens. The honest assessment is that our three wins were against inferior competition and don’t suggest this team will perform the same the rest of the way. Titans without their three best, rookie Qb for the lowly jets, comeback at home against the raiders after a few lucky stops and a few gimmick plays. Doesn’t mean we’re a 5-11 team, but certainly concern we’re another 7-9 or 8-8 mediocre team instead of a 10/11 win solid team. That’s my perception anyway.

I said this in a different thread, but 8-8 or so is my biggest worry, neither good enough to know we've found the right HC nor bad enough (for Ross) to know we need a new one.

Here's the problem with the rest of our schedule: we're not facing many teams that have gone 2-2. They're mostly 1-3 (6 teams: Buffalo (twice), Lions, Texans, Jets and Indy) or 3-1 (3 teams: Bengals, Bears, Jaguars) or teams that aren't 3-1 but are strong (NE is 2-2 and GB is 2-1-1). The only team not mentioned there is Minnesota who is 1-2-1 right now.

That kind of schedule looks to me like a schedule where we'll go anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7, which as I said is my biggest worry. Winning at Cinci however would totally change the equation so the panic button can wait, but the more I see 8-8 coming the more I want to press it.

It's so frustrating because we're a month in and already short 4 starting linemen (2 O/2 D). And every year, we say that once the line's healthy we're going to be a great football team. You can't run with a weak interior line though so that settles the year for Drake/Gore. At least the pass protect is still decent but we need a real game plan to capitalize. Stills is the only true WR we have though; the rest are gimmicks or guys too small to get off the LOS in press coverage. And it's very hard to call a play for Grant when you don't know if he's going to be upright or not once the ball is snapped. Not that it's his fault, mind you....it is what it is.

If we can't get the run game going, then I don't see where we're going to dig out more than 4-6 more wins this year. And if we can't stop the run, then I don't see how RT can play from behind with any sort of confidence. We're just not built to do that, even though that's what we've been doing for years now. It's incredibly frustrating.

As you said though, if we figure it out by Cinci then that's a huge step in the right direction. I'd put them on the same level as the Titans...a good team but certainly not one of the elite few. So we'll see what happens.

But it's not about that at all. I've been a Tannehill supporter his whole career and I have been super willing and hoping Gase is our guy. It's about noticing the flaws with this team and having discussions about why things happen. It has been a steady diet of choking in big games with Gase and Co. I don't even blame Tannehill for yesterday but anyone would say he played like crap....it was a dud for him. The body of work that Gase is putting forward is developing now and showing what his teams are about. We can reliably compete with most of the NFL on any given Sunday but when it comes to being elite or playing in the spotlight, we always choke...and i mean we choke in royal fashion. The amount of extreme blowouts that have happened with Adam Gase is surprising to this point. I'll list a few in his 3 years being here:

    9/29/16 CIN 22 MIA 7
    10/9/16 TEN 30 MIA 17
    12/4/16 BAL 38 MIA 6
    1/1/17 NE 35 MIA 14

    9/24/17 NYJ 20 MIA 6
    10/1/17 N.O. 20 MIA 0
    10/26/17 BAL 40 MIA 0
    11/13/17 CAR 45 MIA 21
    11/26/17 NE 35 MIA 17
    12/24/17 KC 29 MIA 13

    9/30/18 NE 38 MIA 7

Adam Gase has a record of 19W-17L. Of the 17 losses 11 were non-competitive games as I have listed here. That means that 65% of the time that you lose, you are blown out and embarrassed. That is not okay in my opinion.

no. The hatred is with perfect vision. Both are horrible. Tannehill has been in the league 7 years, hes as good as hes ever going to get. Trubisky is already better. Andy Dalton is better. Only teams with worse Qb--9 Jets and Bill's, Az, and they're rookies. Eagles have 2 better, so do the Saints. SF now that Garrapolo is out is worse. Hes bottom five.

I see this posted a lot but a real head coach would look at his players and design an offense to reflect their strengths. We have some really fast received, a stud TE with good hands and we continually try to run the ball. We don’t have the line for it. So Gase needs to pass more to open up the run some. Push the LB’s and corners off the line some.

We should be passing short yardage 5-15 yard passes regularly. This will free up gore and drake to run some more right now no one is going to worry about anything over 5 yards from us.

    No but....

We had a chance to prove we belong, and we did the exact opposite.

We may not suck, but we sucked.

All of our coaches and many players are not established enough to play poorly with a pass.

This loss stung as bad as any in a long time. It validated what everyone really thinks about this team.

If we can find a way to 2-2 these next four games I might feel better about making the playoffs.

But if our offense looks like it has frankly all year save some moments? I have zero hope that we are a team that can compete.

I think what we have with our DL/OL we can manage if we don't suffer another injury. However, what has me more concerned is our secondary. Our depth there is young and inexperienced. I think our guys will be focused and hungry. Nobody is ready to concede the season.

Regardless, you seem to miss the point. Tannehill is not capable of having the day that Trubisky had. Trubisky showed that he is capable of putting up a fantastic numbers in the right situation. Taneyhill proved on Sunday that he is still prone to suck in tough environments. He doesn't elevate the players around him. He never has!

The varying regimes haven't mattered. The end result has been the same. They're now 2-16 up in Foxboro against the Patriots since 2001 and the players know this.

It's called a mental edge and it carries over from Pats team to Pats team. For the Dolphins the inferiority continues to permeate whenever they face off up there. The Fins have proven incapable to overcome if things don't start well early for them.

I believe this completely. It doesn't matter what you have at skill positions if the linemen cant do their job and a great line can make a mediocre bunch of skill position guys look like HOF'rs. Yes I'm looking square at you Dak Prescott. Like I said in another thread, They have to invest in a couple of top prospect interior lineman in the draft. They cant ignore it any longer, 10+ years this has been the real problem with this team.

    So CAL
The difference is everyone looks at the 3 games against crappy teams, my perception is the pats are our bench mark they have controlled the division for 20 years, so we put teams together to beat them and take over the division, the fact that this team is put together to beat this particular team and we damn near got shut out except for a garbage late TD is the problem. If we put a team together to beat the jets and come in second and that is winning then i guess OK. However beating the pats and taking over the division is my mark every year and that was an all around bad game. only time will tell how this team turns out, i definitely see this team going 2-4 over the next 5 games maybe even 1-5 but crazier things have happened maybe we go 4-2 who knows i wont throw in the towel yet after 1 games, even though that is the game every year i judge this team on. If we cant beat the struggling pats how are we going to even contend with playoff teams. Cincy is def one of them teams so we will see, if they get mopped up again then what? is really my question

Yes, because realistically, your anger is misplaced. We have seen for like 10 years what having a ****ty oline does...but we still have a ****ty oline. We've seen what Tannehill can do if he at least has a semblance of a run game. Asking a QB to go into Gillette and beat the Pats without a run game is insane. Yet your anger is still directed at Tannehill.

I'm angry at the asshats who continue to give us a trash oline. You need a line that will impose it's will on the opponent.

I think the last time we had a solid OL is when Ricky Williams was playing in 2002 or so.. which brings up another point: given our piss poor record in building an OL for the last 15+ years, the odds of drafting a QB like Wilson or Mahomes that can play with a poor OL is (for us) greater than the odds of building a solid OL.

It takes what? 3 years or so to evaluate a new QB? That's 5 QB's we could have drafted to see if they're the next Wilson or Mahomes, and I definitely think there is at least a 1 in 5 chance of success there. Even if we keep Tannehill while a new QB is evaluated, I think it's imperative that this franchise try to get a QB that can lead the team to a win when the rest of the team doesn't play well. We need to draft a QB high next year, Tannehill or not.

Nope. You need to draft the best freaking guard in the draft next year and the next best in the 2nd. No more flashy things until your line play is competent. It's pointless. The problem with drafting these interior linemen for us is we don't seem to be able to evaluate the talent at those positions later in the draft. Therefore you better jump on the best ones in the draft so you don't screw it up again.

Right now I’m having a hard tine believing in Gase much more than I am out QBS or WRs.

The only thing I'll say to add to that, is that it seemed to me that Tannehill was getting hit most times as he threw...either people pushed into him, guys around his feet affecting ability to plant, etc.

So while I agree that Tannehill played poorly, I guess I'm left wondering if people expect Tannehill, or any QB, to throw for 400 yards delivering darts all over the field, in that sort of situation. Like, what would you realistically expect a QB getting hit often, throwing to receivers getting mugged, with zero run game, to have for a stat line? I think it should be better than the one Tannehill put up, but I'm not sure how much more.

There are simply a lot of bad OL’s in the league right now.

When that is evident you need either a mobile QB or a coach that has a game plan to counter.
