I was on the fence but no more!Last 2 drives on third and long calls 2 running plays that had no chance.Everybody watching the game knew if they don't get a first down the game is over.He didn't even try.I thought he loved tannehill but not even give him a chance and to put the faith in this ****ty defence.Really?
Gase is dumb af. But he knows he can't trust Tannehill. Typical Fins dysfunction. This whole organization is a hot mess.
Fire his ***,you can't win while playing scared.. Get some legit experienced Headcoach no more rookie HC
I’ve been a Gase supporter, but he lost me today. Need to move on. Those two calls are just inexplicable. And this team continues to play undisciplined football with mental errors and penalties. Blow it up. GM needs to go as well. Too many busted draft picks.
Hes ran the ball on two 3rd and long plays. He knows RT sucks badly. He knows it. So he ran the ball. Do the Packers run there? The Pat's? Steelers? Saints? Colts? nope. just the Fins. why?
If Ross doesn't see this he is a complete football idiot!Gase gave us no chance to win this game. Not that we would have went far if we made the playoffs but this all but eliminated us.
Well.. it's taken some time but finally there are more fans coming around to the same conclusion. The big question is what Ross thinks. I really hope he doesn't repeat what happened with Sparano and Philbin and end up realizing mid-year 4 that we need a new HC. We'll see.
Uh guys, perhaps we have all forgotten that Gase is a genius. If you could not understand why he ran a draw inside our 15, it is because you are not smart enough to figure it out. I for one was completely bewildered, but then I remembered, I am no genius. Gase was like Albert Einstein figuring out the theory of relativity right there. As fans, the best we can do is to make excuses - lots and lots of excuses. Take injuries for instance. We can very easily blame injuries for the play calling there. The one thing we simply cannot do is to jump to conclusions. Gase needs fifteen or twenty more chances before we can truly evaluate him.
Lamar Jackson has one TD and one INT during those two games. Don't get me wrong, I like Lamar Jackson and I'm hoping and predicting he does great things, but let's not pretend he's the main reason the ravens won those two games. After the performance Tannehill put on today, maybe you should blame Gase for a bad call.
You said yourself that Gase was dumb. But yet you're willing to trust his judgment to not have Tannehill throw it despite the latter's performance today?
And to be honest, as much blame as Gase should get, there's a whole bunch of blame that needs to be pointed towards the offensive line (penalties) and our defense.
I knew up by 10 going into the 4th 1/4 was a Death Sentence for Us! There is NO KILLER INSTINCT On this team! If you're up 10, then keep the Pedal to the Medal and Score again and again To "SEAL THE DEAL". Instead of Hoping you can Run 14 minutes off the Clock and Squeeze out a Win. Gase is Soooo Conservative especially on the last 3rd and 10. Everyone in The Stadium New A Run Was Coming. So punt the ball and hope to hold on. Gase HAS TO GO NOW!!!
Look dude I don't want to hear about anything besides gase.Know the situation as a coach.A bunch of dummies drinking beer sitting on the couch knew this defence wasn't stopping them without a lucky turnover and we already had 3. You need to at least attempt to get first downs or you were going to lose. Not ****ing rocket science!
As much as I dislike Gase right now, I'm not gonna over look other areas of piss-poor performance. And I'll just leave it that have. Have a good night.
My guy is out here setting records and winning games with that trash receiving corps and offensive line. Flacco led them to 4-5. Lamar is 2-0. He was our answer. I would have loved to see him with all the speed we have on offense. It would have been so nasty. Even Gase couldn't have screwed it up.
Lamar is basically being used as a running back under center. When he's actually quarterbacking, we'll talk.
This thread had convinced me... It's time to avoid this forum until the season is over. The over reactions are so predictable, so there's no point being here.
I don't think he's an idiot....I thought the game-plan was sound and we played three great quarters. The problem was down the stretch with the conservative crap getting blown up and not making adjustments. You don't run on 3rd and 10 when up by 7....we did it twice. You have a QB on the field posting a 119.4 rating for the day and you don't let him win the game? I just don't understand. Here's the only thing that I could think of- maybe Tannehill hurt the shoulder again or he was simply in a lot of pain but didn't want to sit. That's the only explanation i can think of really for playing that conservative. We had it won.
But that 4th quarter though.. I thought we had a shot at this talent wise. But it seams bad coaching got in the way..Again!
If he can't throw because of pain at that point then he shouldn't be in there. This game was the season.I would rather see an interception than not even try to win the game. This was Joe Philbin like without the feeling queasy statement.
This whole thread is ridiculous. Against the Bengals we kept passing and never gave the defense a chance to win. This game Gase actually gives the defense a chance by not trying to force unlikely conversions and its still wrong. The only thing interesting to me is the posts that WOULD be here had Tannehill thrown a pick. You say youd all prefer that now but if it happened this is what youd all be saying: The defense shut Luck down all day! Why would you throw in that situation and not give them a chance to win! Bottom line, a good defense stops that 3rd and 9.
#1 - Point of Accuracy - Gase sold Tannehill to Ross? What event are we thinking of here because when Gase was hired it was Ross telling Gase he had to use Tannehill. Now there's no doubt that Gase has said he believes in Tannehill and committed to him, but unless I missed something Ross was already all-in on Tannehill before Gase was even on the scene. #2 - Maybe Gase has no courage but I'm not convinced of that yet, my suspicion is that he's making these calls based on a theory or statistics. As I've said elsewhere, I think Gase has a problem of getting lost in his own head, or lost in the numbers instead of going with instinct in the moment (assuming he can). This is all assumption, but my guess is that Gase, who we know is a cerebral type, has thought through all the various general scenarios and has come up with a strategy and scheme. For some reason, part of his strategy includes these 3rd and long run plays and screen passes. We know that in the past he's called out the team for not executing the plays as drawn up. As such, it's possible he doesn't eliminate bad plays from the script because he can't rule them out until they've been shown bad in and of themselves, rather than because they weren't executed properly. Maybe that's the case here, or maybe he's playing the odds because he believes that this sort of play, more of than not, will succeed. From an outside perspective they don't seem to be working out, but then, it's also possible that we're suffering from a biased/skewed perspective where we always note when the play doesn't work, versus when it does. We'd need to do a proper statistical look at those plays to figure out if, on the whole, they are succeeding, and even then, this all comes without being able to see Gase's scheme and strategy. These plays really do frustrate me, and all the more when the game is on the line. If this sort of thing really is costing us victories (as we feel it is) then Gase needs to figure that out fast and change his plan. I still think Gase needs to get out of his head, and I still think he can, but time will tell whether he manages to do that as a Dolphins coach. If Gase does get fired as Dolphins HC he'll get another HC opportunity, and I suspect he will improve with time. If that happens it'll be the most Dolphins thing ever to see him get to a Super Bowl before us, or beat us to it. Worse still as Belichick's replacement leading NE to 15 more years of dominance. But you know. That's only if he doesn't work out here.
Don't worry- I tested at a 142 IQ in high school, which makes me a genius by 2 points. And I absolutely don't get what the heck happened.
I mean, he came out with Tannehill running the bootleg pass on 1st down with just over 4 minutes left. Coverage broke down and he had to throw it away though. Then on 2nd down, he throws the rocket to Stills that should have been caught for a 15 yard gain. And I'm thinking, okay.....Gase gets it. We can't coast while being up seven points. One good drive ends the game. He runs it on 3rd down, which I also kinda got since we were at our own 10 yard line. Be safe there. Then a great punt to halfway flip the field. They returned it to around the 40. But we get the three and out on D and go ultra-conservative the rest of the game. It boggled my mind why we'd play it that way.
Look at our first TD....a simple screen pass to Drake that he busted 15ish yards out of. He had another good run in the 2nd quarter on the same play, then we never ran it again the rest of the game. If he's calling plays based on theory, that would have been the one for 1st down.
To conservative at the end of regulation and a defense that gave up easy pass plays in critical situations doomed them.
