“You guys know I’ve been around here for a couple of years and there’s been some drama-filled stuff that’s happened here. I’m not letting the cat out of the bag on that one. But I don’t feel that with this crew. It’s a lunch-pail, hard-hat crew. We’re bringing our lunch to work every day, we’re putting the hard hat on and we’re going out to work. This is not a drama group. I don’t see the divas and the drama queens or whatever you want to call them. Whatever the right term is or the wrong term, I don’t see that. I see a lot of camaraderie. I see a lot of cohesiveness. I see a lot of going out and wanting to get the job done.”

    Rizzi

Man, what momentum and confidence going into this game, what an opportunity for a QB and a coach to change all the negative narratives about them.

Gase has made tough decisions ( all departures I agree with) and if he can make this run happen, those tough decisions will prove to be the right ones and I will be proud to call him our coach. The team will have never quit amidst all the injuries, and to make this run when everyone had us as a 4 to 6 win team, his tactics and vision will have come to fruition.

I know we all have our opinions of Ryan, but his play is once again making us rethink his ascension timeline, his toughness is pretty damn remarkable, to be having his best year with roast beef in his shoulder, a bum ankle, poor pass protection, demands us all to at least stop and rethink a little, I know what I need to see and man do I hope I see it..Just show me the flash so I know it’s there.Show it to us so we can trust in the future.

What’s pretty damn cool is our team right now has a chance to be the Cinderella team in the NFL, it’s all right in front of them, they have been in this position before and admittedly crapped themselves, Gase told us that, he told us this is the reason why he got rid of some players, he didn’t like how the team played when the pressure to win was on and he wasn’t gonna sit back and let them continue, he trusted himself and made moves to find his players..

It’s been a while since we’ve had this kind of excitement as a team, it feels a little different to me but I know I’ve felt it before..

But that unity seems real and I do believe that if 53 guys can all get in the same page, play for each other, with one goal, they can accomplish great things, just give me a little help from my qb with the grande cahones and I think we can do it..

Let’s beat these freakin game of thrones

Yeah they finally won a must-win game, and in spectacular fashion. And it’s important to remember that even a loss to Minnesota doesn’t squash our playoff hopes.

Still.. game on the road against a tough opponent when you are in the thick of the playoff race will tell us a lot, about Gase and about Tannehill. Again though.. it’s not over if we lose so no panic in the game thread please!

Yup! As long as the Ravens take their division (they should based on schedule compared to Pitt), it looks like the #6 slot will be available for us at 9-7 (if Indy loses twice) or 10-6 (if Indy loses once). And Indy will definitely lose once.

So this is not a "must-win" game per se, but I think we absolutely have to win it anyway to extend the win streak to 3 and keep the confidence high. And honestly, I think we'll make a great showing....especially if Howard somehow plays.

There's no simple summary of all possibilities, but basically we make the playoffs if we beat the Jags and Bills AND we're in a 3-way tie OR 4-way tie at 9-7. What hurts is if there is only a 2-way tie at 9-7 with Indy (they beat us) or Ravens (probably goes to strength of victory).

You're right though about it being good for us if Ravens take the division because that probably means Pittsburgh lost to NE and the Saints (very possible) and since they're 7-5-1 right now we'd beat them straight up on record alone.

Anyway, realistically we need to beat the two AFC opponents and hope we don't get into a 2-way tie.

I really like the Rizzi quote. I don’t know if he’s blowing smoke but it is exactly the feeling I want this team to have.

Psychologically the Miracle in Miami came at a good time to get the team in the right frame for a playoff push.

I know vegas has Minny as an ~7 point favorite for this game. That to me seems a bit too generous. Home advantage is worth 3, but then if you look at Miami with RT a QB and the fact the Vikes have been fading a bit in their last 2 games. I would have this game closer to even advantage on a neutral field.

If you look at the Vikings record they have zero wins against any team that currently has a winning record plus a loss to the Bills which was the biggest upset of the season iirc. So their W-L count this season isn’t that impressive.
We on the other hands have wins against The Titans (7-6) Patriots (9-4) and the Bears (9-4).

I really think that if what Rizzi says reflects reality, and the team feels slighted by the odds makers, and the media not giving us credit for the Miracle that this is a perfect platform for the team to perform really well.

Gase is way to conservative and predictable for my liking. He gets another year regardless. This team needs to believe in themselves and learn to win consistently.

The Viking game is going to be a tough game for the Dolphins. Let’s hope they can put a little streak together and squeak into the playoffs. Something I believed 4 weeks ago was impossible. It’s still a long shot but what the hell! We already screwed up our draft position so let’s get a playoff spot!!

Next year Gase and co are on the hot seat!

The way I see it, the Steelers have a much harder schedule compared to the Ravens AND they have that tie on top of it. If Pittsburgh loses once, they'll have to make up two games to take the division back. So if they don't win out they're basically out completely. Since I could see them losing all three of the last games, I'm "counting" the Ravens as a lock for their division.

And if the Ravens take their division, the only teams left to worry about are-

    Indy (has heads-up advantage)
Titans (who we have the tie-breaker over)

So as long as Indy loses one, the door will be wide open for us to win out. We'd have to lose two games to get bypassed by the Titans...and if we lose two then we're likely done anyway. We just need to win all three games or hope Indy loses twice.

Of course, the worst outcome would be if the Ravens choke...then we have to worry about all the 3-way tie scenarios. I just don't see it though when comparing their two schedules.

If they win this game, it'll go a long way to silencing the "Same old crappy Dolphins" brigade. Everytime fans want to believe, Cincy or Indy happens. This may not be a must win for the playoffs, but it's a must win to change perception. History, recent and years gone by, tell me they are going to have chances to win but are going to piss them away. Its what's happened here for the better part of 20 years.

I agree with you that Gase is too conservative, but after watching his press conference I am beginning to understand why. Because of my ignorance, I am guilty of over-simplifying the game. I don't, but if I played Madden, then I would just substitute one guy for another based on their databased skill set and reap the benefits. However, in the real world things aren't as easy as I think they should be. It's not just plug and play. When a guy goes down, and we shuffle players around to compensate, it deviates from the game plan and what they practiced during the week. I think Gase has done a good job mitigating things when STUFF happens and he still gets solid production from the offense.

A lot of people don't seem to understand it takes talent to make plays work. Offense is about getting the defense out of position and exploiting it later in the game.

If your talent can't actually take advantage of the set up its meaningless.

That's the thing most people don't understand. You lose Tunsil for a few weeks, and it changes protection on almost every play because the talent level takes a huge drop. We lost both tackles at the same time...AFTER we had already lost a center and a guard. Each time, we get creative and figure out how to overcome that, how to get the "next man up" to speed, what the best option is for that week, etc.

Losing Grant wasn't a huge thing by itself since he came off the bench, but it limited a lot of what we do well. His few touches per game usually led to 7+ points and you can't replace that with Amendola. Losing Wilson was devastating though and with all the other WR injuries, it's been a new scheme almost weekly as we figured out how to move the ball. And of course, Tannehill was the biggest dagger.

I said in my season review that the offense would start the year slow and really start building up points by weeks 5 or 6. Well guess what, we're just not getting past Tannehill's week 5-6 and he's down 2 or 3 star receivers and half his line. The potential has been there all along but we just don't have consistency in all the pieces so one week is building off the next. I think this is the first week of the entire season where we didn't lose someone important on offense.....but people blame Gase for us not being consistent.

I'm not saying Gase is blameless here and I think his decisions have cost us a few ballgames this year alone. But what's the guy supposed to do when we're re-writing our offense every single week? It's a fool's errand to expect him to be 100% perfect, 100% of the time. We are 7-6 with our best players out on offense and defense....I personally think he's done a good job under the circumstances.

    I agree.

    Add to that:

    1) Ideal ball position for the play that was run.
    2) Having a score that was less than a TD apart.
***** For those Hamsters among us, that means we had kept the game competitive.
    3) Sensational timing that allowed this play to end the game in dramatic fashion.

All these things pre-positioned an appropriate and well executed play.

The Dolphins offense beat the Patriots defense with great play selection and execution, including timing, ball handling, positioning, ball handlers evading and slipping tackles, downfield blocking and last but not least, being able to take the lead with a touchdown to end the game. They did all this with the stress of being behind and knowing it was probably their last chance for a play.

The Dolphins earned this win by every imaginable measure and have every right to be proud of it!

It seems to me that only Patriot fans or trolls would claim this loss was due to the Patriots poor play as opposed to our simply beating them by staying with them throughout the game and out playing them at the end. We kept coming back and re-taking the lead during the game and we never stopped. The last play was simply the best effort each team chose to use. We chose the play wisely, and by using excellent execution, BEAT THE PATRIOTS!

    We Won!
    Get over it.
We have another tough game coming up.
Lets win again, it's a lot more fun when we win.

That’s not true man, our offense played well, run game was very good, Ryan was highly efficient, defense tightened up in the 2nd half allowing 6 points..

If it wasn’t for two brain farts by our pro bowl long snapper we would of handled them..

You were not having it though, lol, it’s all good man I know you love the team..

Not sure what the issue is with calling that last play a "miracle". It's totally justified to call it that. I mean the definition of "miracle" includes "a highly improbable or extraordinary event". Here's the win probability chart for the game. The probability the Dolphins were going to win before that play was less than 0.01%!! Yeah.. it's a "miracle" by definition.

Out of curiosity I just looked at one. Almost all the posters are blaming Belichick for a stupid and uncharacteristic coaching move. No real sense of dread though.. they're past that play and looking at their next game: Pittsburgh.

Seriously though, that dynasty has to end sometime. Brady's adjusted stats are his 2nd worst ever, second to only 2013 atm, and you can't beat the aging process. I know people keep predicting their demise only to see another great year, but I think this time it's real and that next year Pats fans will start calling for getting rid of Brady due to his declining performance. We'll see.. he just doesn't look the same IMO.

If Pitt wins today, it's well on its way towards ending. We lit the fire, the Steelers can cause an explosion and all we need is the Bills or Jets to burn the damn house down. I'm almost as excited about today's Steelers/Patriots game as I am ours...that's how bad I want Big Ben to handle business!

Man, I been reviewing this game and I dont see how we win. Im just hoping for turnovers and some luck. Were missing XMan, they have a new offensive coordinator so we cant scout their tendencies, we have to guess. . Their weakness is offensive line but we dont really have a dominating defensive line while conversely they should wreck our offensive line. We need Jesus covered in rabbits legs and a horseshoe belt buckle to win this game. Dolphins by three. Lets hope for some divine intervention
