We picked him up late. Not a lot of expectations.

What do you reckon to the youngster?

First off, I hate the gangster rap. Second, they showed the first sack four times, then started the 2nd one on repeat from different angles. I gave up at 45 seconds (two plays down) and just couldn't watch/listen anymore.

In summary, I have no idea if Godchaux will develop, but his video guy needs to be fired ASAP!

I know most of these types of videos glorify a player but there is something I’d like all of you to do. Watch the first one. Look at Godchaux’s head on these plays. He’s looking through the OL and has the ball located. He’s not focused on the lineman that’s engaging him, he knows where the ball is and is working towards it.

If you truly think about it, that’s pretty impressive

Godchaux is in my opinion a natural Nose Tackle, and I think we are likely going to see him gain weight and get a crack at a starting job.

Video is lame, music is even worse....and this is coming from an avid hip hop fan. He was basically one of our few mainstays on the defensive line last season. Fifth round pick and I personally think he's a steal for what it's worth. Hopefully he continues to get better.

I like him. He's shown a lot of promise so far, and will only be 24 next season. We have him under team control for two more seasons, so hopefully he can become one of the mainstays of the new defense. IMO, he might actually be the only defensive linemen who is even guaranteed a spot on next year's team.

Id be hard pressed to not say Vincent Taylor was a lock for next year too. Dude is a beast on special teams and even cheaper than DG.

Godcheax and Taylor were 5th round steals? I think it was the 5th?
I like them both. For now.

No question. All the guys on rookie contracts should be back on defense.

Many, if not most of the posters, claim we need new scouts because we don't draft well. Does this mean that they are rong?!!!

I don't think most people blame our individual scouts.

We always seem to hit well on these later picks, but we also have a lot of bad early round memories like Jordan, Parker and even though I'm not 100% down on him yet, Harris.

I hope with Grier in charge now that he has been the one on board with our good picks recently.

We've been drafting better lately. I'd say that five of the past seven drafts are pretty good.

    The problem is twofold:

    A) We've been awful at drafting the interior OL, and its killed us over and over

    B) The team has been lousy coaching and getting the most of out of the players that we have.

    C) Horrible at retaining the young talent we do draft.

Not saying we will have an awesome draft or not, but all I can say it will be nice that Grier doesn't have to fight with and hold Tannenbaum in check to keep him from making a dumb trade during the draft. I realize Grier isn't perfect, but a least he can mostly focus on the task at hand and not be distracted with unnecessary, excessive BS. Now if Ross would just take a vacation to Hawaii or something on draft day so he is out of Grier's way too. Ross needs to give the guy room to breath, stop looking over his shoulder, and quit micromanaging him!

I think it was as 5th and 6th. We took DG and Isiata with our 2 5th rounders that year. We did take them in our back to back picks though. But yes you are right, same concept with even better value then.

How is his last name pronounced? Is it God-Chow? Because every time he makes a play I could say "It's gotta be the God Chow..."

I think its debatable, lol. He's from Louisiana, and when saying names of people and places there, I half feel as if I'm mocking their accents if I try to say the words the same way that they do.

Just had a Google around, God-show seems quite likely, then I've heard God-shaou (like pow or how).

Even heard one God-shox which just seems wrong.

Can't find any videos of him saying his own name. Someone asked him about his first name, which he clarified has the accent/stress on the 'o'.

One local news video had it pronounced 3 different ways in the same clip....so much for journalism.

The media apparently pronounced Patrick Surtains nane wrong most of his career before he corrected them. Happens a lot.

Excellent point..one of the main reasons I didn’t want us to draft Charles Harris.
