    Slightly left of center
Everyone is talking about how deep this draft is in DL but there are a lot of good WR available that are going to be pushed down to 3-5 rds. Should NOT be a priority but if theres a good size guy rd 4 after they like Id be ok with it

I'll always think of what could have been with devante, and hope that he catches on somewhere that uses him properly . our coaches have been such idiots.

I think Devin Funchess is on the market now too. Dont think he would be too expensive after his up and down play. Id hope we wouldn't spend anything hirer than a 4th on a WR in the draft given the needs in the trenches and CB

Not 100% convinced that was mostly the coaches. Devante had to learn to grow up apparently. To become a professional. He was injured a lot. Maybe just fragile?

He was certainly injured more than anyone would have liked. No one can deny that. But I'm never going to bash a player because of that, when its out of his control.

My main problem is that the coaching staffs so often wanted to send him on deep routes, or either have him run WR screens. And neither is what he is built to do. When they would actually let him run slants, come backs, outs and crossing patters, he did awesome! So why not freaking feature him on those patterns??? Its what I want the offense to be based upon, and we had a player who was good at it, and yet they just would not do it! Maddening. All I can do is hope that the new staff is smarter and better, and that we can escape the crap we've been running for years in the pass game.

Devante feels like the sort of guy who goes to the Patriots and suddenly brings in 12TDs next year. I think all the talent is there, but the flashes of immaturity and inability to stay healthy coupled with some interesting years from the coaching staffs led to us never seeing any consistency from him.

I think you are understating what was in his control and not with injuries. We heard multiple rumblings regarding him sitting for injuries that he could of played through and his work ethic. Hes soft, plan and simple. He did awesome on those routes, sometimes. Other times he was knocked off his spot and didnt fight to get position. Softness doesnt play well for those sort of routes. He got by and looked good sometimes on pure size and talent. That doesn't play to winning/team ball at the WR department. You need guys that run the right routes. Guys that are on the same page with the offense and QB.

The only route that plays well with those types of players are the 50/50 balls. And even then you saw the lack of want to and lack of physicalness show up.

You don't necessarily need to be a big, tough guy to run a lot of those routes though. I'm not asking him to be Hines Ward or Anquan Bolden, and fight people over the middle of the field. More like work in open zones the way that Marvin Harrison, Issac Bruce, Donald Driver, ect. did. 12-15 yards per catch, over and over and over.

The new coaching staff needs to figure out a way to allow our receivers to operate without being molested at the LOS all game long. That BS has hurt is for far too long.

That's on the receiver, as well though, as part of their technique, to win those. Devante Parker was never a great route-runner coming out of Louisville, and I don't think he improved too much when he was a Dolphin, either.

Well, whenever we do get another WR, I hope that he has all of the physical traits that DeVante does. Relying on the really tiny guys at the position just doesn't do it for me.

I will not argue that he has misused, but he did himself no favors by being unavailable to practice and play. I say good bye and good luck.

You dont need to be big. But you need to be tough. Cross routes you have to expect to be hit. Dont mistake those guys for catching a ball and then diving to the ground as not being tough. They were, they were just smart after the catch. But like invid pointed out, those are route running technicians. Parker is definitely not that. He got by on those routes by pure talent. Thats why I said he looked good, sometimes.

I would really like to think that they've been having trade talks with a club regarding Quinn, and just couldn't get it done yet, for whatever reason. I guess we'll see.

Am I mistaken that clubs have to use up the cap or they get pentalised? What’s from keeping an owner bear bonesing it year after year while getting lucrative deals without putting a competitive team on the field?

I think they have to spend around 90% of the cap. (It may only be 80%, but there is a minimum limit.)

So if we have to spend 80 or 90% of the cap and we're completely gutting the roster of aging vets, who are we going to pay? I don't understand letting James walk if that's the strategy. So we're going to have to be extremely active in free agency over the next few months to make the numbers work- it will be interesting to see who's on the team's radar.

Yeah, I'm really hoping we get to keep both of them...especially Howard though. He could be a future hall of famer.

Yeah X is demanding to be the highest paid corner, and Tunsil will probably demand a high salary as well. Kenyan Drake is also a UFA next year.

Has Drake done enough to land a major contract? Although it may not be his fault due to the line, I'd argue that this is a "proving year" for him to show his worth. I think he could be an absolute star....I just wish I knew why Gase used him less and less as the season wore on.
