Just watched the latest episode of Killing Eve. Villanelle is the best character ever and everyone should watch this show.
I thought of you guys Sunday afternoon as I watched a movie on AMC. Every commercial break they kept showing commercials for that show, and every one made me want to never watch it at all. So, not everyone, lol.
Well, it’s definitely not like a rerun of The Andy Griffith Show. Great story, acting that hemorrhages wit & charm, writing that’s unparalleled, and beautiful cinematography aren’t an appealing combination for everyone.
My God but the new Twilight Zone is horrible. It might even be worse then the other two or three reboots the show has had. Really surprising since it's jordan peele and he's been pretty good with everything he's touched until now. There are zero twists, the premises are yawn inspiring, the dialogue is crap. It's as if he never watched an original episode. Maybe it speaks to the greatness of Rod Serling but after three or four reboots it's pretty obvious no one can recapture the magic that was the original. The simple yet to the point dialogue, the twist you never saw coming, the timeless moral lesson that goes down surprisingly easily like candy. If Hollywood has any decency they will cancel this latest abomination and never again attempt to reboot it
I was a kid, but I enjoyed the version that was made in the 80s. I think that they decided it was too expensive and cancelled it, like a lot of other well done shows.
cool. That was the Grateful Dead Twilight Zone. The Grateful Dead did the theme and a lot of the music on the show lol. I was just reading about that version of the show and it had problems even before it ran. the studios were iffy about running it in the first place because the movie didnt do so well. Then when they ran it, it started well but started slipping in ratings so they started changing when it aired which is always bad. at one point it was supposed to run at 10pm so the writers wrote more adult themed shows but then the show got switched to air at 8pm and the shows were considered too adult for the timeslot. one show was about an anti santa clause but the networks killed that and it cost them 1/2 million dollars. Martin, the Game of Thrones guy was a writer on that show. in the second season they just decided to kill it. I think the studios never really backed it.
Wasn't there another similar show that was on in the late 80s and 90s too, under a different brand? I know there was The Outer Limits, but I'm thinking that there was something else too.
Nah, I've never had HBO. And until last year I hadn't ever had a premium channel. Would have been something on network, basic cable or syndication back in those days. But that was 25-30 years ago, so my memories could be fuzzy.
Is it really that good? I keep hearing that's it's a must watch, but I just find it hard to believe it's worth my time.
PS: yes, Cobra Kai is worth it. 4 hours very well spent. The combination of great show + nostalgia = home run. I gave it a 9 on IMdB.
...and it was set up for season 4 to be the best yet. Netflix renewed it after season 1 did they not? Renewed it after season 2 did they not? So what the hell happened since then despite the viewers being as loyal and as addicted as ever? Netflix had to know that the cancellation was possible prior to even filming S3, so why the did they end the show on a goddam cliffhanger?! What pisses me off the most is that they had no qualms about pushing seasons 6 & 7 of a dying OITNB on us, yet they can’t give us beyond 15 total hrs of SCD, which is basically like 1 full season of OITNB.
Hmmm...I thought it was you who told me about it...Must have been someone else. it's a great show though...lol
Season 2 of Cobra Kai was great, not quite as fun as S1 but sets up nicely for an interesting S3. This show has just the right amount of campiness to maintain the movie’s original integrity. It’s a pretty seamless transition.
Anyone else watch Power? I just started it and it seems promising but I f’n hate the fact that the Starz app only plays in 2.1 stereo. Just wanna know if it’s worth the investment. 2.1? It’s 2019 for s**t sake!
It is engaging. Probably the best live action adaptation of Terry Pratchett I have seen, but that isn't saying much.
Chernobyl is f***ing EPIC. The tension and horror are palpable; the level of detail is extraordinary; the sense of immersion is in your face. Probably the single best thing I’ve ever seen on screen...... and is now the highest rated show of all time (9.7 IMdB), higher than Band of Brothers and even higher than the Planet Earth series.
I finished watching season two of The Dragon Prince on Netflix. It's bunched in with the kids shows, I guess because its animated, but I while I would say that its safe for older kids, its certainly not a "kids show". The story, animation and voice acting are all really good, and through two seasons they're still just starting to develop who all of the characters are and what their motivations are and will be. It has some strong overtones in common with LOTR and a high fantasy setting, but the details are unique to its own world. The whole thing also has the feel, story wise, of a good RPG, especially a JRPG. If you're into that sort of thing and willing to watch something that not rated mature, I strongly recommend it.
I was sad to see today that the next season of The Good Place will be the final one, ending the series after just four seasons. Its such a terrific show, and I'm really sad to see it go.
Surprisingly, I watched season 1, episode 1 of Cobra Kai and absolutely fell in love with it. The first season was really, really good and I honestly think the 2nd season was even better. Eagerly awaiting season 3! On another note, I watched the HBO miniseries Chernobyl and thought that was awesome! My wife and I also started watching NOS4A2 (it's a license plate # if you're wondering about the name). It's one of those shows where it will take a few episodes to figure out if you love it or hate it, but so far I'm a huge fan.
I thought the writing got a little sloppier in the recent seasons BUT I've really enjoyed it overall. I appreciated it as well for being so far outside the box of a typical TV show.
Glad to see you enjoyed Cobra & Chernobyl. I’ll get to NOS4A2 when it’s about 4 episodes in. I often feel a better sense of attachment to a series when I’m able to binge the first 3 or 4 episodes.
It's....different. Very different. It almost reminds me of Children of the Corn meets The Craft...with Santa! I mean, the main bad guy kidnaps kids by promising to bring them to the North Pole where it's Christmas every day...but he does it in the eeriest and creepiest possible way. I almost want to hate it but I can't stop watching! =) Anyway, episode 3 drops this Sunday or Monday (I DVR so I forget which day it is). The writing is excellent though and it's like nothing else on TV by a wide margin.
