I hate to say this but i will be relieved once its done and its not the Knicks receiving Paul. This screams Knicks Panic Move.

    -Almost washed up star
    -Bloated contract
-Durant Injury ---> possibly feeling Kemba and Kyrie will go to Dallas and Brooklyn or some such scenario. ---> Desperation to attract Kawhi or another star
    - Idiot Dolan still runs the team

Too many pieces line up that im uncomfortable until its some other schmuck team :couch:

I think it would be a pretty big surprise if Culver, Garland, Reddish, Hunter, or White fall out of the top 10, let alone to 13. Those guys could realistically even be gone by 7 or 8. I think someone ahead of us will gamble on Doumboya, but he could be there. I've said I'm not sure I can see Riley taking him if he is, although I hope I'm wrong. Hayes also seems to be a guy that'll go ahead of 13, and I hope he does because I don't see the longterm fit with him next to Bam. He's mocked to Atlanta at 10 quite a bit. Clarke, Hachimura, and Washington's stocks seem to be a little all over the place. It wouldn't shock me if all 3 are there at 13, but it also wouldn't completely shock me to see two of the three gone. I could live with any of the three, with Washington as my favorite of them, but none of them would necessarily wet my whistle. I could get on board with the upside Bol, but my preferences still are Little, Porter, Langford, and Johnson.

Yeah, he's good enough that you have to just bite the bullet. The only way I see this changing anything is potentially KD opting in for this year and putting everything off another year.

I think your team is safe. I haven't heard any insider rumblings on the Knicks wanting any of our guys, especially Paul.

The thing destroying the trade market for AD isnt Rich Paul. Its 2 things...the fact hes stated he will only resign with NYK and LAL...and the fact that the Knicks have a lot of their front office who want to wait til next year citing the Melo deal.

If youre the knicks KD is now a guy you dont want... throw the max at Kyrie and trade your pick and whatever to NewOrleans wants.

Sorry but im not risking max money on a guy with the worst possible injury a basketball player can have. KD isnt coming back the same or better. Book it

Let’s all just wait and see what we get for AD before proclaiming the market is destroyed. We’ll be fine.

I was big on Goga Bitadze and I still like him but something that was like dumping a bucket of cold water over my head was watching the highlights and film of Mega Bemax playing against Kentucky back in August of 2018.

You saw Goga Bitadze going up against the likes of P.J. Washington and Keldon Johnson, all of them basically being the same age, and it's just clear that Goga could not hang with these guys. Nobody on Mega Bemax could, but I know what it looks like when there's a bad squad with one good player on it. Go watch Japan's FIBA game against USA back in 2017, you'll see one guy Rui Hachimura trying to hold an entire team on his shoulders against a whole team of USA's best high schoolers. This was not that. Bitadze was part of the group that couldn't hang.

I think Goga Bitadze has gotten bigger, stronger, and better. And his shooting CANNOT be ignored for a 7 foot center with his heft. Go watch the video of his star drill in private workouts. The guy can shoot. So I think there's going to be a place for that in the NBA.

But it certainly cooled me a bit on his potential, and reminded me how I always feel like Euro guys are potentially an inside joke that I'm not in on.

You see a LOT of missed shots here with Luguentz Dort. He was 3 of 14 on field goals.

But you also see an 19 year old, first year, dominant alpha player with high usage putting a Bobby Hurley team on his back against #1 Kansas, attacking, getting to the free throw line, scoring 13 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and winning the day. It was him with the ball at the end, with the score close.

He reminds me at times of what Justise Winslow looked like before his shots at the rim started to fall. It's like alllllmost there. He's 19 years old, still developing, but MAN is he talented.

I've mentioned Donovan Mitchell as a comparison, but there's some Lance Stephenson there as well.

My four targets at #13 could easily be expanded to six targets...those being Brandon Clarke, Sekou Doumbouya, Rui Hachimura, P.J. Washington, Luka Samanic, and Luguenz Dort.

EDIT: Hah! I just saw an interview of Dort and he said he models his game after Donovan Mitchell.

A total of 17 players have been invited to the NBA Green Room for the Draft.

    Zion Williamson
    Ja Morant
    R.J. Barrett
    Jarrett Culver
    Brandon Clarke
    Sekou Doumbouya
    Rui Hachimura
    P.J. Washington
    Darius Garland
    Cam Reddish
    DeAndre Hunter
    Coby White
    Nassir Little
    Jaxson Hayes
    Goga Bitadze
    Tyler Herro
    Romeo Langford

Somehow, I ended up almost exactly where the NBA is apparently ending up on these player rankings. The only guys I'd sub out would be Tyler Herro and Romeo Langford for players like Luke Samanic, Luguentz Dort, or Keldon Johnson.

But I can see why Romeo Langford is in there over Kevin Porter. I have fewer issues with Langford than I do KPJ.

I also recognize that I'm not where everyone else is on Luguentz Dort. Similar to Kyle Kuzma a few years back.

With Langford, I think it comes down to whether you think his shot will eventually fall, and how much of his poor shooting this year was due to the thumb ligament injury. I think it was Nekias Duncan that said that if his shot develops, he could be the best (maybe he said one of the best) scorers in the draft.

    Romeo Langford is alright.

But I'm not convinced on Romeo's build, his wiring, his strength, his speed, his defense. His issues trying to drive to his right are pretty severe and that can be a problem in the NBA.

I think it's true about whether his shot falls or not but it also might be over-simplifying, because the relevant question would be, how good does his shot need to actually get before he works as a player? Because yeah, if a dude starts shooting like Damian Lillard or Steph Curry, they're gonna work.

My preference between Langford and Dort would be Dort, personally.

Well, there you have it. Keldon Johnson received an invite to the NBA Draft Green Room.

Far as I can tell this is the order they were invited/revealed:

    Zion Williamson
    Ja Morant
    R.J. Barrett
    Darius Garland
    Jarrett Culver
    DeAndre Hunter
    Coby White
    Cam Reddish
    Jaxson Hayes
    Nassir Little
    Romeo Langford
    Tyler Herro
    Brandon Clarke
    Rui Hachimura
    P.J. Washington
    Sekou Doumbouya
    Goga Bitadze
    Keldon Johnson

I wonder how many they plan on inviting. Bol Bol hasn't been invited yet. Bruno Fernando, Mfiondu Kabengele, Kevin Porter, Luka Samanic, maybe Nicolas Claxton...seem most likely.

Dort may be a safer pick whereas Langford is more projection as a younger, more raw player but going for a risk minimization strategy is the opposite strategy from where you should be at. This isnt the NFL; its the complete opposite. In the NFL id get behind that type of strategy almost every time. In the NBA, I gamble on the better projected player every time barring character concerns.

I agree for the most part, and certainly where the Heat currently stand. I do think there are some situations where you would look for a relatively safe player that can help you go to the next level now. Atlanta might be a team that fits that profile, although with three picks, maybe if you take three risks, you hope the odds let you hit on one.

I think I’ve isolated what is bothering me about the explicit agism of NBA fans with respect to draft prospects.

Telling me that Brandon Clarke is low ceiling prospect because of his age, despite his ridiculous height/agility/speed/verticality combination, despite his ludicrous productivity and tape, reminds me of people saying that Aaron Donald is a low ceiling player, despite his ridiculous athleticism for the position, despite his ridiculous productivity and tape, simply because he was about 23 years old on draft day.

I don't think that's an apples to apples comparison, though. Age for an NFL prospect means a little bit less in terms of development, because all of them have been developing in college for at least 3 years. Most top draft prospects are in that 22-23 year range. In the NBA, a player who was graduating high school this time last year should have quite a bit of developing still to do vs a player who's had college level development along with the physical development that comes in years 20-23 of your life.

That doesn't mean a 23 year old prospect can't develop quite a bit. But there are reasons (history being one of them) to be skeptical about your typical 23 year old prospect developing to be a whole lot more than what you currently see.

You’re right it’s not the same between the NFL and the NBA. In the NBA, players are still at their peak performance as late as 32 years old. In the the NFL, non quarterback positions generally peak when they’re 27-28 years old. So if anything agism should mean even more to the NFL.

My love for the NBA returned this series. I've never felt so emotionally invested (for a team that I don't love ) in any sport the way I did watching these games.

Keep me the hell away from flopping, lackadaisical three point chucking teams that whine on ever non call and don't play defense and I think I'll be ok.

    Just a tremendous series.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been invited to the NBA Draft Green Room.

One spot remaining. Jonathan Givony speculates it'll go to Bol Bol, Kevin Porter, Cam Johnson, Mfiondu Kabengele, or KZ Okpala.

Last year, it wasn't until pick #15 the Washington Wizards took Tony Brown Jr., who was not on the NBA Green Room attendees list. By the time we got through pick #23, 19 of the 20 attendees had been taken. Robert Williams eventually went #27 overall.

If you go back to the 2017 NBA Draft, it wasn't until the Milwaukee Bucks chose D.J. Wilson at pick #17 that you got the first pick in the draft that year that was NOT in the Green Room. By the time we got through pick #23, all 20 of the NBA Green Room invitees had been taken.

Prior to that, the list was less reliable. Back in 2016 they only invited 14 prospects, and 12 of them were taken by the time they got through pick #18. The other two were taken at #28 and #31. The Milwaukee Bucks chose Thon Maker at #10 overall that year. That was the highest non-invitee taken.

Back in 2015, there were 19 attendees, with a 20th invite out to Mario Hezonja who would only attend if his Euro league ended on time. Three more players were invited but declined. It wasn't until the Boston Celtics chose Terry Rozier at pick #16 that the first non-invite was taken. By pick #24, a total of 21 of the 23 invitees had already been taken. The other two went #28 and #30.

So this is a pretty reliable list. Justise Winslow and Bam Adebayo were both on it.

As sad as the KD and Klay injuries are, it adds even more intrigue to this offseason, that could be really crazy. Even if they both stay with Golden State, KD is probably out for the year, and Klay is probably out for a big chunk of the year. In the west, they may be fighting just to make the playoffs. Teams in the hunt are going to see an opportunity and could go all out to win now.

That’s a good point. Kawhi could re up with the raptors for a year and have a good chance to win it all again.

Or really anywhere Kawhi goes becomes a contender.

This might even be Houston’s one chance to get to the finals.

Or the Sixers, or Boston could make a big move for AD seeing what Kawhi did, or LA, or some teams we're not thinking about.

For what it's worth it looks kyrie to Brooklyn is a done deal. The Boston Herald reported that two separate sources are saying Kyrie will be a Net. Him switching to Jay Z's agency pretty much seals it. The only thing that keeps it from being 100 percent is the fact that it's Kyrie. With him nothing is ever certain

It has been a TERRIBLE week for Knicks fan's.

Durant was the odds on fav to sign, Davis was only willing to goto 2 teams. One was the Knicks an the other just traded for him.

You think? I'd bet Ball and Ingram never become all-stars, and two of those three picks will probably be pretty low. I live in LA, and have told my Lakers fans friends that I'd have no problem giving up all the kids, and draft picks for AD. They kept the best of the four kids in Kuzma, and end up with one of the best players in the league, who also happens to still be only 26 years old. With the Warriors effectively out of the chase in 2019-2020, this could be the start to building a championship contender. It will be interesting to see what they do with the roster from here.

Can we all just appreciate how bad it appears that Danny Ainge ****ed up? He didn't want to take the gamble on Kawhi last year. He wouldn't give up Jalen Brown. He had all these chips to pay for AD, and turtled again. He did trade for Kyrie, though, thinking he'd re-sign, and the Celtics would be the best team in the East. The latter didn't happen, and all reports seem to suggest Kyrie is on his way out. It's really a beautiful thing to see.

This is a pretty good podcast that talks a lot about the players that will be in the Heat's range. They are high on Brandon Clarke, but one of the points they make is one of the reasons I don't really want the Heat to take him. They say a team like the T'Wolves should have him in their top 6 with the fit next to a player like Towns, but a team like OKC with a Stephen Adams probably should have him considerably lower because offensively, you are going to want them to operate in a similar area. I think everything they say about Adams can be said about Bam. I just don't love their fit next to one another. Another point they make is there isn't really a good comp in the NBA to Clarke. That's something I struggle with for him, and maybe that isn't fair to Clarke, but it's there.

Congrats on raping LAL. Only way that doesn’t blow up in LA’s face is if they can still get Kemba or Kyrie.
