Kevin Gregg = No more pitching in the 9th please.

I understand a blown save here and there, but at this point you dont even expect him to save the game. Even when he gets two outs you just think 'well now it will be even more painful.'

I'm glad someone else see's through that "sore knee" BS. You and I well know, that story is a cover for getting Gregg out of there and not having to use him (maybe never) again for a while. This should take at least 15 days and maybe the rest of the year -- I am not stupid, and I do resent their putting out a story like this to cover themselves. But what else should we expect from a franchise that disregards its fans like this one does. It seems as if they actually hate us, to treat us like we are that stupid. Don't they realize we'll see through this when Gregg doesn't go on the DL ?

Because I will be relentless, and forever single minded in making sure I shout it from the mountaintops that Loria is not deserving of being an MLB owner. He has now ruined the fan bases of two cities, and made it nearly impossible to get a new stadium built. It is through his and Samson's stupidity that the franchise fanbase has been nearly ruined. Almost to a point you feel it was done on purpose in South Fla. It just seems they go out of their way to P.O. everyone down here.

Don't worry, I don't think you ever see Gregg throw another pitch in a Marlins uniform. :shifty:

You act like this is the first instance of a manager showing some decency and not publicly embarrassing one of his players by at least throwing out a cover story. Come on, man. Gonzalez doesn't need to sit there and say "Kevin Gregg's lost it, he's toast, I never want to see him again." What good does that do?

What? Loria's the guy who finalized the stadium deal when everyone from Huizenga onwards failed. Give credit where it's due.

Norman Braman is the reason why it's "nearly impossible," not Jeffrey Loria. Though I will say I hope Loria sells the team after the stadium is 100% set to go. There are plenty of people who would love to not only run a baseball franchise, but to say that they took the basic pieces and built something special out of it.

Well he's doing two things. One, hes protecting his player. It's not doing anyone any good to call out your closer. And two, he's protecting his value. If other teams think he's pitching poorly because of injury, his trade value is upped.

I think we all know what is really behind this. I feel for Gregg's safety in that locker room. Freddi is removing him before the problem gets too big and distracts the team completely. There are men that have fought long and hard to win games, and then Gregg comes along and ruins their work. I know I would resent it, especially since that guy who is blowing it all is the highest paid player on the team at $ 2.5 million. Pure & simple they trusted a reliever and unless his name is Mariano Riveria, these days, you don't trust a reliever. (and even he has shown cracks in his armour)

This same deal was on the table back in 2005, and Loria said NO. It should have already been done, and yes I am angry at Brahman, but I also blame Loria, since he should have taken the deal in 2005, when it would have cost $ 150 million less to build. But Loria wanted to be greedy, and didn't want to pay anything, but reap 100% of the profits.

Please, trade value ? This guy has none.....he will be shopped around no doubt after the season, but I doubt we get a single taker. Instead they will either trade him for a bag of peanuts or just let him go. Either way will make me happy that he is gone.

If you take away the saves and just look at his other numbers, the fact is that he's been an above average to good reliever.

Freddi said no players from Carolina will be called up until their playoff run is finished.

Our roster expands from 25 to 40 I believe, so we could still potentially see 14 more call-ups (Mike Rabelo was put on the 60 day DL) although that is unlikely.

EDIT: After a little research, Freddi anticipates 6 to 8 players getting the call. I'll go ahead and guess and say Miller, Carrol, Maybin, Tucker, Raynor, Sanchez, Coughlan, and a name a buddy of mine (who is very much in the know) keeps whispering is AAA player Tagg Bozied.

He is absolutely filthy. He followed up that heater with a 76 mph curve to freeze Chipper. If he can fix his command issues, which has never been a huge problem for him, he could be very very good

Robert Andino, Dallas McPherson, and Elugio De La Cruz have been called up.

Honestly surprised McPherson is up. He is 7 days away from another year of service.

    Guess Loria isn't that cheap.

Lefty power bat off the bench. I'd guess if they wanted to give him a start or two, they'd put him at 3rd and slide Cantu across the diamond.

Miller looked great today. What a win. It always makes me feel great to beat the Braves, and its looking better and better that we can finally finish above them in the standings.....if we can't win the division, or get the wildcard, I want one other thing, and that is finishing at least 1 game above those braves..........just one year I want that. Hopefully we get it this year.

Yeah. We could potentially have our 2009 line-up look like:

    1. Maybin-CF.
    2. Raynor-RF.
    3. Ramirez-SS.
    4. Sanchez-1B.
    5. Ross-LF.
    6. McPherson-3B.
    7. Coghlan-2B.
    8. Baker-C.

    And then

    1. Nolasco
    2. Johnson
    3. Miller
    4. Volstad
    5. Sanchez

If he can improve defensively by next Spring, it would save a big headache for the front office and having to find a new starter as catcher.

I'd say yeah. He's platooning with Baker pretty successfully right now.

BTW, Maybin just went yard to make it 4-0 in their playoff game.
