This year is going to suck. A lot. In many ways. I suspect that we'll see plenty of threads each week about just how bad each game was and how much different things could have been had we drafted this player or not cut that player. Fair enough. I understand the need to vent.

For my part though, I my aim this year is to endure the pain and focus instead on the positives. To try to learn as much as possible about what we DO have.

The past is done. We don't get any do-overs. Cuts are gone. Draft picks were used. We are where we are. That's not to say there won't be trade demands and other things that surface. Things could get really ugly, and I'm not sure what to think about any of that just yet. I'll have to deal with it as it comes.

Of course, maybe what we DO have is also horrible. Maybe the coaches, players and everything else are pitiful and the Dolphins crash and burn in their entirety. I don't know that either - so whatever happens I aim to watch and see what happens, see what we've got.

To that end, here's my hope and desire for the forums during this season - to see whatever nuggets of information, rays of light, silver linings, you guys can spot as we go through the storm. I don't pretend to be a very knowledgeable person when it comes to the details of football. There are many far more knowledgeable members on here and I really appreciate being able to come on here and learn, as well as throw out questions and see what comes back. This season especially, what really interests me is the idea of being able to see through all the debris of a disaster season to spot the good, the highlights.

Obviously there's no way to guarantee that, or make it happen, but consider this my request to any and all members here. Please share whatever positive thoughts, or even just constructive criticism on here. It's going to be a long season, but making some discoveries along the way will really lighten the load, and help pave the way to the possible future of Dolphins football.

Thanks for listening guys. I'm looking forward to wading through this with you guys and finding at least few bright spots in what's going to be a dark season.

New WR Williams, new LB I don't know the name of (Sam Eguvian?), we got a good punter and kicker and we're not playing the Ravens every Sunday...

I think the only thing you can do this season is evaluate the head coach because I don't think anybody on the roster right now will be on the roster in 2022.

No need to watch the games so that’s 48-64 hours back in our lives.

There are some guys who should be around still. And that has been part of it for me in terms of Flores being the guy - can he take this team and show some improvement. You HAVE to be able to find guys and coach them up. You HAVE to get the most out of premium talent. So we need to see guys like Minkah and Wilkins improve.

If we see that, we can overlook a bad record
But if we see no real player development, go 0-16 and lose badly game in and game out? Flores may be out of work asap.

The punter is awesome, he should be working for NASA.
I didn't notice any cheerleaders in yesterday's game. I know there wasn't much to cheer about but, were they traded for draft picks?
We always have a problem with the Ravens. I agree that was probably the low water mark of the season. I take comfort in the fact that they didn't try an onside kick to run up the score even more, everything else was working for them.
If Flores hasn't totally lost the locker room I think we'll see gradual improvement once we get past that New England team.

Our kicker is good, the punter has a strong leg.. Parker and Williams played well against a prevent defense during garbage time

I get to spend more time with my family on Sunday's.
I don't have to worry about getting a sun stroke at Hard Rock Stadium.

We have to see which players are worth keeping around. I can only think of a handful. Grier better hit on those draft picks. It's pretty much player evaluation for 16 weeks.

Good stuff, Galant. It's important to keep the positives in mind, especially at the doorstep of an ugly season.

I grew up in Missouri. My family has no affiliation with the Miami Dolphins. I remember picking them as "my team" when I was just a few years old, and I picked them for their colors. Little did I know that 20-something years later I'd be all-in as a hardcore fan of the team. It's funny--looking back, I probably chose the worst possible team to follow. The Browns and Raiders have found hope in recent years, the Lions had some success in the Megatron/Stafford era, and even the Jaguars made an AFC Championship game. Us? Mediocrity is our highlight.

But I don't regret my choice. I love the Miami Dolphins, and I know that brighter days are ahead. Like I said, I'm only in my 20s, and as such, all I know are the perpetually average, weak-minded, fair-weather Miami Dolphins. You know, 7-9 seasons, bad enough to miss on top draft prospects, not good enough to reach playoffs, always signing overpriced free agents, poor drafting, trading away picks, band-aid fixes... you get it. And that's exactly why I'm so excited for our future.

Those days are done. We're finally blowing it up. Maybe the rebuild works, maybe it doesn't, but at least it's not the same **** I've seen all my life.

I'm not watching on Sunday's expecting wins anymore. For the players, this season is an audition to be a part of the future Miami Dolphins; so as fans, we need to be watching for individual standouts and signs of potential.

There's a lot to like about this team moving forward. When we finally land that franchise QB, and when we're finally in Super Bowl contention, the pain will have been worth it. Ride it out.

    Some positives for the future:

    • Jerome Baker is an absolute leader.
    • Xavien Howard is elite.
    • Minkah Fitzpatrick is a professional, and he has so much upside.
    • Christian Wilkins is a locker-room asset and has tons of room to grow.
    • Preston Williams is oozing with potential.
    • Haack and Sanders look legit.
    • We have 13 -likely- top 100 draft picks over the next two years.
    • We have up to 120 million in cap space next year.

Texans lost last night which makes our Tunsil trade a little bit better. Keep losing Texans!

I hope Tunsil and Stills play lights out but the Texans lose every damn game.

I wont really like the trade unless one of the two first rounders is a top 15

There is something nice about having no expectations & not planning my weekend (e.g. food shopping) around Sunday football. I didn't yell at the TV and wasn't bummed about the loss last week. I had to explain to my wife about the tanking. In many ways, it'll be a more enjoyable football season for her. I still love my Dolphins but I will just enjoy the season as a break of sorts and recharge my hardcore fan batteries for next year.

With 6-7 draft picks in the first 3 rounds, we should be able to find a few impact players and several starters. Not to mention they said they’d be aggressive in FA. I’m trying my best not to be a homer here but I think they could turn this around fairly quickly.

I'm really worried about us taking Tua though. Of course I could be 100% wrong but he just shrinks vs anything that resembles good defense and plays surrounded by the best in the country.

Hes no better than Matt Leinart or Vince Young to me.

I’m uncertain about him too. I think we need to see how this college football season plays out, maybe a more more pro ready QB emerges, or maybe one of the other QB’s outshines him.
