Come on guys Drake put no effort in for the Dolphins this year, its only a matter of time he does the same for the Cardinals.
And then some Dolphin fans will have more to complain about! Trade him...Complain...Keep him...Complain. Let him walk and get nothing....Complain. WIN/WIN
Exactly. Isn't it public knowledge by now that he didn't want to be here and wasn't going to resign? Look, it's no surprise Drake had a good game. He's got ability, we all know that, we've seen it from him. We also saw our former idiot head coach not want to use him as often as he should have been. We all know Drake's weaknesses too, in particular pass blocking & ball security. He's a good fit in that offense out there, almost perfect I'd think. He hasn't been used here all season as it is, so I'd hope he'd be fresh and put up some good numbers. I think we all knew, or at least should have known that if given the opportunities, and a good supporting cast, with competent coaching/playcalling he would have success. This isn't a surprise, or shouldnt be anyways. I'm not sure why we need to make a big deal out of the fact he had a good game now that he's gone. Is the point the OP is trying to prove that we screwed up here by moving him? I assume that's the point anyways... I'm just not sure why at this point. Something for the future, is better than nothing now & the future. Exactly! So true.
It’s funny because I was just reading Mando’s article which highlights Minkah and Drake as reasons the Dolphins coaching staff are having issues. Neither player wanted to be here and play their role within the team framework. He sites big production this week as evidence. Never mind the fact that we’ve turned Dallas’s garbage(Taco Charlton) into someone who is getting sacks. A rag tag OL producing beyond their talent level and undrafted WR who’s making big plays for us. Writers like him will never understand why players who are me first like Landry/Beckham don’t help their teams win games but then teams like NE find plug and play players everywhere to produce success.
I just mentioned this in the other Drake thread as well but .... San Fran had no time to prepare or gameplan for Drake at all. He was traded on Monday for a Thursday game. I think we do see he has a complimentary skill set for a Murray type QB, works well in uptempo. And yeah, bottom line? He tried harder last night than he probably has since the Miracle play last year. I see it as a win/win for both sides, which is fine. Arizona got a decent back with potential to play with Murray for a good value. We picked up the first pick in round 5 for a guy who had checked out and wasn't going to sign again and has had major consistency problems at a very replaceable position. We can both win.
Great points. He has had nothing to write about. No inside info with this staff at all. Mando's playbook? Throw crap up against the walls and see what sticks. When in doubt, just stir the pot! Mando 101
Drake has three qualities. Speed, hands, open field agility. There are three traits that a spread offense air raid system covets in their running backs.. Speed, hands, open field agility.. Along with the way Kyler Murray plays, the outlet back becomes priority. It all equals a perfect fit.. I do happen to believe they would of paid more.. I would asked for a third and settled for a fourth.
The real reason I'm pissed is he just ****ed over my fantasy team.I have David johnson Who now I'm sure will have a timeshare when he comes back. The dolphins never cease to **** me one way or another!
I'm pretty salty about this. Decided to sit Drake against that San Fran defense in favor of Tevin Coleman, who's been incredible since returning. What do I get? An egg from Coleman. 5 whole points.
I was pretty desperate so even if he hadn't been traded, I would still have had to have played him. Also picked up Jaylen Samuels off waivers this week so if Conner doesn't suit up, happy days.
I'm honestly happy for him. I still think we did the right thing to get something for a guy who was not coming back. Moreover, I have been fairly critical of Grier's ability to consistently select quality players (especially in early rounds), but I have to give credit where credit is due. Grier has been exceptional at finding quality running backs in mid to late rounds. With our slew of draft picks, I am confident that we will be brining in another solid running back. I am going to go out on a limb here and say something that will ruffle some feathers. Whoever "the next running back" is, we will not be signing him to a long term deal either. We can keep drafting solid running backs in mid to late rounds, pay them nothing, and trade them for mid round compensation. This is a good cycle that will allow us to spend in other areas while consistently spending little at the position.
I mean kind of but I'd rather have a "We win, you lose" type trade. Making yourself better is great but helping others get better in equal amounts kind of defeats the purpose to me lol
I was happy for him. I've been a huge fan of his since he's come into the league. He's always been a playmaker and I hope him the best in Arizona. I happen to be quite a Cardinals fan anyway, and Murray is already one of my favorite players in the league, so to have Drake end up on one of the "other" teams that I root for in this league is kinda cool. I'm glad we got some compensation for him. Clearly he's a talented player when give the opportunity to showcase his skills. I really thought we had our guy back in 2017 when Gase started to use him down the stretch. It will always remain an unsolved mystery to me as to why he was never the full time feature back in Miami. Last year was frustrating watching him not get the touches he deserved. It carried into this season and he was clearly under utilitzed during his time here. I hope he continues his tear with the Cardinals for the rest of the season and earns himself a nice payday.
But that’s the problem...getting something cause he was gonna walk. He wanted out because he wasn’t used. So no, it’s not good that we let talent go for next to nothing because our franchise sucks the life out of them as a player and they want out.
Drake was terribly misused and underutilized here. I remember, a year or so ago, in some thread, I mentioned that Gase isn't using Drake right and I wish he would use him more in the passing game, but not with the typical screens and short stuff typical of most RB routes, I wanted him to go on more WR type of routes. Send him on deeper go routes, etc, similar to how NE was using White at the time. I mean, a RB can more easily get off blocks and jams at the line, they can have enough speed to get down the field, they can be shifty to get open, etc. I thought Drake could excel in that role on occasion. It was funny because the next Game, Gase tried it and it worked perfectly and Drake had a long TD reception and another long reception. Then the next game, that little bugeyed douche never went back to it again. I'm old school and I don't like Drake whining about wanting to be traded if that's what happened. Tough it out for your teammates and your fans, etc, but that's just me and I would pump the brakes a bit on this game proving he's going to be some superstar in Arizona or something. We all knew he had the talent to be a good back if used correctly. I guess I wish him well. We'll see how it plays out.
