I think it's SOS first. So Bengals would need to win 2 games to match us. If we lose to them, that's one. But they'd need another one...which doesn't seem likely right now. Otherwise they're overall W/L record would be sufficient for #1. If we were tied on W/L then we'd take the #1 spot - assuming the Giants don't also lose out.

Well no-one thought we would win a game period, so I can see the Bengals winning one aside from us. Then it comes down to us facing them and whether we win any additional games.

Just FYI on the Bengals there's this video after Dalton was benched. As from 21 seconds in, Dalton is asked what reason he was given for him being benched. Some would argue that sounds like tanking... "He has to think about the future with the draft, and has to see what he has with Ryan".

FWIW He seems to be handling it well. If someone told me that I'd probably tell them to go screw themself and stop wasting my career, then stop showing up to meetings and practices lol

We play the Giants, so if we lose out, that's a win for them.

The Bengals ... man I just don't see two wins on that schedule. The Jets are suddenly playing decent ball and while it's likely a mirage born of weak opponents, the Bengals are a weak opponent. The Browns aren't good, but they shellacked us, and they outclass the Bengals on talent. That leaves the Pats, hah good luck.

It is Frustrating. They should have beat the Steelers yesterday.

I think Andy Dalton wins that game

Yeah, that was disappointing...the Giants looked like they had the win too. Maybe they'll catch some breaks in weeks 16/17 though with teams resting starters.

Who would have thought before the season started that we'd be sitting here in "anti-playoff" mode and rooting for crappy teams to win? To me it's almost comical how we've adapted to tank mode so quickly.

In fact this was the first season where I could not give myself any hope.
That this team lacks so much talent and the roster churn away the beginning that even if they played perfect football and everything went great that 6-10 would be a miracle

We have the makings of a pretty solid team....on injured reserve. Whether they all belong there, only the Dolphins brass knows.

Reports are they are turning back to Dalton now. Taylor is in save his job mode now, just no way you bring back an 0-16 coach imo. I know realistically there isn't much difference between 0-16 and 1-15, but the optics ...

Also, it pretty much confirms they will be going QB with their first pick unless they just hate everyone and do something crazy like take Young.

Hope we stay at 2 or 3. When looking at top players we could end up with a luxury piece like CB or WR if we pick at a bit later. As helpful as those positions would be, without a o-line or d-line their impact will be marginalized.

    Week 13

    Relevant Games:
    Falcons 3-8 host Saints 9-2
    Bengals 0-11 host Jets 4-7
    Dolphins 2-9 host Eagles 5-6
    Panthers 5-6 host Redskins 2-9
    Giants 2-9 host Packers 8-3
    Broncos 3-8 host Chargers 4-7

    Predictions:
    - Falcons vs Saints - Not sure how you call Falcons over Saints, even after their recent domination of the Panthers... Saints win.
    - Bengals vs Jets - Can I call Bengals over Jets? Can I? Please? Please let it be! ... Jets win.
    - Dolphins vs Eagles - Eagles looked like they might have a decent season, but they're severely banged up, missing WR's and Lane Johnson amongst others. They've been capable of beating good teams but just haven't done it much. Since their bye week two weeks ago they've faced stiff competition and been demolished by it. In a normal season this would be a very winnable game for the Dolphins, but is that the case this year. There's certainly potential for an upset, but, having faced humiliation a few games running, I suspect the Eagles want to take advantage of a weak Miami team to earn a win. I call Eagles over Dolphins but almost anything could happen in this one depending upon which versions of each team show up. If the Eagles do lose this...Pederson's job, and others, might be forfeit (if not already).
    - Panthers vs Redskins - Panthers are the obvious call because the Redskins suck. However, the Panthers are on a losing streak, they just lost badly to the Falcons, and they're another injury stricken team with their starting guard now out and having had to promote his replacement. Can the Redskins capitalise on the momentum from their recent win? Haskins seems to be hungry. I really want to call this one, but... the Redskins are just bad. I'll be happy to be wrong on this - Panthers win.
    - Giants vs Packers - Yeah... no. Packers win.
    - Broncos vs Chargers - Chargers have to be favoured here but both teams have had surprising wins and horrible losses. Another game dependent on which team shows up, and it's being played in Denver. Chargers are coming off a bye week though... so I'll sit with the favourites again.

    Predicted rankings after next week:
Things will be the same as this week.

    1 Cincinnati 0-12 .582
    2 NYG 2-10 .466
    3 Miami 2-10 .506
    4 Washington 2-10 .509
    5 Denver 3-9 .537
    6 Atlanta 3-9 .571

The giants will beat washington and they will likely beat us. But will we beat the bengals which I consider our last winnable game?

Even with 1 more win, given the current SOS of the other 3 win teams, I don't see us falling out of the top 4 now.

The Jets are playing better but you can never count that rivalry as a "gimmie" for either team. And if the Pats have 1st place locked in week 17, it wouldn't shock me to see Belichek rest EVERYONE to intentionally give us a win and move us one step further from our next QB. I mean, it would really be the smart move in that situation.

So really, we have three games we could potentially win...but I think we'd have to get some folks back off of IR in that secondary to have any chance at all. The Bengals are the biggest challenge though since they're in full tank mode and we're not- you know the Fins will at least play hard 60 minutes every week despite not having the talent.

If Grant is out, that takes away our special teams potential for a big score and I think we'll go 0-5 without him and our secondary. But if we do get him back plus Reshad and a few others, there's a chance we come out of this with a couple more wins.

Dalton is benched for the season. The reason he was given was "to evaluate talent before the draft". They don't want to beat us any more than we want to beat them.

Yeah, you have to favor the Bengals to win against the Phins with Dalton starting. I think their coach understands that going 0-16 could easily get him fired even after only one season. I was sure the Bengals were a lock for the #1 pick, but this one move changes that.

If Dalton is back and AJ Green then I don't see how we win unless Fitzpatrick has one of those games.

We could beat the Giants. Jones seems to have regressed.

It will be difficult to win with a 3rd string secondary vs the jets. Don't see it happening.

Pats defense likely shuts us out again week 17. If the Ravens lose a game then they could sit a lot of guys.

I want to depend on Tanny helping out Miami, and the irony would be amazing that he'd help Miami while leading a team to the playoffs, but I'm gonna need to see it, to believe it. Go Titans!

Giants pull off the upset? The weather gives this an outside shot.

Broncos with Lock? Likely low scoring so anything can happen.

Titans and Browns. And Patriots :(

At this point our pitt and houston pick may both be in the 20s.. we will see what our front office does with those picks but if the first round looks to weaken to borderline 2nd day picks, i wouldnt be opposed to trading up..

The guy has a huge family, I doubt he would move them to Miami.

Depends on the rookie. Some of these guys like Love and Eason, actually watched them on tv, have a lot of throwing issues. We know breaking the mind/body connection is a long process and even when accomplished, some guys still return to bad habits when under stress.

I'd want a player who can will his team to a win even when he is having a poor game. That mental toughness is greater than physical ability. I'd have more faith with that type of rookie developing into a competent starter.

No thanks, at all. Same to Newton.

And frankly, there is absolutely no chance he would want to play here unless we offer him a ridiculous contract. He doesn't seem to want to leave San Diego, let alone go across the entire country. And we aren't in position to contend, which is a losing proposition for a guy desperate for a last chance nearing the end of his career. The Bears are the realistic choice if he wants out of LA. We are probably the least realistic choice. Hell, if he wants to move to Florida, the Bucs are a better choice than us.

If the Chargers had a young QB they'd been grooming behind Rivers, they would send Rivers to the bench and start the kid to finish the season. That's the scenario Rivers would face coming to Miami, along with the other reasons mentioned. The Bears would be an interesting spot, as the team is built to compete RIGHT NOW, except they need a better QB.

Rooting on my local broncos today. Early lead for them. We may not get Burrow but I still want a blue chip pick and all the help we can get for the other picks too.
