Skill positions weren't the real problem. The biggest problem was the offensive line. They were atrocious up front, particularly at guard. Guys would blow up the middle and get a sack on Thill before he could even get out of his drop. That happened all the time. If he has one weakness he is not good in the pocket as far as feeling where the pressure is coming from and sliding away from it. And Ajayi had one good year, the same year Tannehill got Hurt and they got bounced the first round of the playoffs. As far as Parker goes, he hasn't done anything until this year. He would have one game a year where you would see him blow up but the rest of the time he was either out with a hangnail injury or would just plain not play physically enough.

We had Tunsil for a season or two with Tannehill, James at right who was marginal, and an often hurt Mike Pouncey at center. Guard was always a disgrace the whole time Tannehill was here. If you can't pass block and you can't run block nobody is going to show well behind that garbage, but add that to the fact that he had trouble in the pocket and its a recipe for disaster. You see how good he is throwing on the run, we were begging for years for them to roll him out and let him throw that way. Get him away from the pressure. But it never happened.

One more thing, everyone wants to tell you he is a converted wide receiver and thats why blah blah blah. That is not a true statement. Tannehill went to A&M as a QB. He played receiver for them for a season to help them out when they were thin one year. Thats it. One season filling in. What that really speaks to is his athletic ability AND his willingness to help his TEAM out. The national media has perpetuated that false narrative for years.

I'm not sold he fully grasped Lazor's system the way Lazor did. I'm not saying it was some end-all beat-all system, but at times he didn't look natural at all running that offense.

Below-average to average (at his best) pocket / pressure awareness. Inability to identify and/or change out of a bad play at times (remember the back to back safety free-run blitz sacks against Philly?). I don't know if he didn't have the latitude to change protections on those plays, but they looked absolutely HORRIBLE for him. As well as the 3 game streak he had for taking safeties...gotta have more awareness backed up like that, period.

Unwillingness to give up on route progression...causing him to take unnecessary sacks at times, which could refer back to the last point.

Hadn't fully developed his touch on some throws that required more of an arc.

That's my list, and it appears as if some of these things have been corrected (touch, identifying protection changes, thorough command of the offense system) or mitigated to a point (pressures), in Tennessee.

It is if you have no evidence. We have Gase who claimed that Tannehill was fully knowledgeable in regards to the playbook, and that he had to direct other offensive players where to line up. That doesn't sound like Tannehill was the problem.

It would be extremely disingenuous of me to blame Ryan for anything that had to do with Bill Lazor. That dude was a clown and a half.

Yes I know Ryan played well in Lazors first year to the point we all loved Lazor....but he is one of the front running types, who can coach a good offense, but not help mask deficiencies.

His pocket presence only improved marginally. Sometimes it seemed he wasn't decisive when making his reads and getting his passes off. Poor ball security in the pocket, always seemed to get the ball stripped. Never seen a QB with more batted passes in my life.

Well we all already established that it takes time to learn a new system. So to me it was certainly a group effort of mediocrity.

Nothing turned me off more than sitting front stage that Thu night game at Cincinnati and watching Ryan and his offense look as lost as lost can be.

Now that it’s unanimous Adam Gase is just a garbage coach, we can all comfortably consider him as big a part of the problem as anything.

That is essentially the exact same opinion I have.

No Qbs is perfect, but these flaws are certainly exposed at a different rate when you have an overall bad team around you as opposed to a solid nucleus.

As bad as Gase is, even he knew to give Ryan the ability to audible and committing to the run. That's why what happened was so egregious and infuriating, the obstacles placed on Thill were epically stupid.

Man I'm so happy to have him with the team!

I havent felt like this since the Air McNair days!

Mariota gave us hope in 2016 when he posted 27-9 TD-InT ratio, with 3600 yards. Here we are with a guy that surpassed that twice as much as Marcus did that one year.

    Something noteworthy perhaps:

On 33.2% of Derrick Henry's snaps, the Titans are facing a defensive formation with eight defenders in the box.

That's 1.29 standard deviations above the league average of 20.8%. One in three snaps as opposed to the league average of one in five.

You try having 30 drunken unemployed (by choice) snuggle tooth Kentucky Bengal fans yapping all around you.

Especially after I was so over dramatic and loud on our first possession where RT hit Stills for a long TD to go up 7-0. I couldn't do anything after that but sit back and watch. That was Ryan's worst game save Baltimore, and I had to sit there and watch.

I admit that experience jaded me deep for my new BFF, RT17.

I wonder if the league is ever gonna catch up with L. Jackson...sheesh. I mean, I know it's the Jets...but they only give up 78 ypg on the ground...they been hit for 150 in 3 quarters.

I don’t care about your real time game experience frankly. He missed throws in the first half of that cinci game execution wise he needed to make. Yep. In the first half for sure. That deep ball to stills for the td on like the 2nd play of the game was pretty much the only play we made.

in the 2nd half it was Carlos Dunlap and geno Atkins meet me at the qb and he had no chance. Atkins destroyed us.

The titans game we literally had zero chance from the beginning. We couldn’t even call a pass play other than flats release because the o line play was so damn horrid in both phases. After that’s when gase threw in the towel on Dallas thomas and billy turner. Although turner was thrown into left tackle that game week with little to no reps and surprise it showed up ugly. He was a guard anyways. Gase overreacted per usual and cut thomas (who should have been gone 2 years prior frankly) and turner (a serviceable at worst right guard still finding his nfl game who shouldn’t have been cut considering what we had in house).

that was the low point under gase in terms of actual game play. We couldn’t do a damn thing in that titans game.

that’s also when we canned the tempo based offense completely.

the way he’s passing it’s gonna be hard. Take a leg injury and lose some of that quick acceleration to top speed and I think the league catches up pretty quick.

but man you better have a plan vs all those heavy tight end sets. It’s what they run that entire offense around. If you don’t and he has that acceleration good luck.

I don’t care that you don’t care what I care about.

Damn, I sound like an idiot.

Back on topic, he/they sucked in both games. No need to try and debate which was worse. It’s an opinion not a fact either way.
