Both the Meers and Hill prices are fine if you are sold on Burrow, but hard to see the Bengals biting on anything less than a record setting deal.

If Tua is looking good though, I wouldn't be shocked to see us - or someone else - go up to 3. There just isn't positional value there for the Lions, who aren't taking a QB. Monday will be an interesting day.

    I don't see him worth 3 number 1's.

This 100000% if Tua does go back to school.

Burrow, IMO, will not be a good NFL QB. Of course I could be wrong, but I just don't see it.

    OK, I just want to ask for clarification...because I know there are others who probably feel the same as you do, you'd be willing to sell the farm for Burrows...give up our 3 first round draft picks when;
We have serious issues on the offensive line that need shoring up
Still have issues at running back
Still have issues on the defensive line
Have no one to speak of at linebacker
Have issues in the defensive secondary

We have so many holes to fill on our team and we have a REAL opportunity to get some GREAT players to fill these holes and you'd want to trade them all away just to get a quarterback to sit on the bench? Or even if he was put in at the start, have no support to set him up for success?

You know, this philosophy of drafting the BPA never really made any sense to me. To me the draft has always been about getting the players that you NEED. I mean, if you have your WR corps set...5 STUD WR's and yet on the draft board, the BPA is a WR so you draft a player that you don't need? It's never made sense to me.

I think you should be drafting BPA for the positions you need.

Overpaying for a QB makes no sense, not on this team. The Redskins overpaid for RG3 and now he's a back-up for Baltimore and Washington is still in QB hell. Boy, don't they look stupid.
Potentially great QBs come along every year, exceptionally good QB classes seem to come along every couple of years.
Unless somebody has a time machine and knew FOR A FACT that Burrow would lead us to the SB in a couple of years then, for sure but, buying 20,000 dollars in lottery tickets to get rich is a poor strategy.
Build the defense, o-line and, get a couple of stud RBs this year. LEAP FOR LAWRENCE next year.

There is literally 0% chance we get Lawrence next year unless we bomb so hard we end up with pick #1.

Think about it logically. Hes considered a cant miss prospect, right or wrong, at the most important position on the field.

It would be like the Colts trading away the #1 pick instead of taking Manning or Luck.

We could probably offer 5 first rounders and a team wouldnt budge. Having your QB position set for 15 years (potentially) with a prospect like Lawrence is worth more than any amount of draft picks.

The fact that people are willing to give up so much is an indication he wont be traded for.

Overpaying is only overpaying if the guy you "bought" isn't a good QB.

Its about the evaluation of the player. If we spend a couple of firsts and a second on QB X and becomes the next Mahomes....who the **** cares at that point what we spent?

Well, if you really believe you're going to be set at your most important position for 15 years, yes, that would be a sensible thing to do, even if he sits on the bench for a year. Pretty big if, of course.

It definitely makes no sense in your hypothetical. If a team has needs just about everywhere, like the Fins, it makes more sense.

We fill some holes on offensive line in free agency and still have have possibly 10 or 11 more picks plus 2.first in 2021.Grier needs to draft right .I feel strongly Burrow is a true franchise Qb have been saying this since sept.
I also feel start Fitz next year and start Burrow 2021 giving us time to rebuild.

Nobody knows for sure what tomorrow brings. If we trade back from our #5 this year for a package that includes a 1st rounder next year and we target a trading partner that is a perennial bottom feeder then we could easily end up with 3 good first round picks again. We would have a solid team built with this year's draft, a pocket full of cash for free agency and we'd be in a great position to grab a QB. No, it might not be Lawrence or, it could be depending on who moves up, who drops, who knows. At any rate, as a team we would be more ready to grab a QB and make a splash.

I've been sold on Burrow all year too...that LSU team has torn through all the top defenses and really made a statement. I live in Clemson territory and I'm not even sure who I'm rooting for in the championship since Burrow looks historically good. The craziest thing is that if Burrow didn't transfer to LSU he might not have started this season...and he probably wouldn't have been drafted at all.

First, his arm is below average. I realize that some QB's (Daniel Jones this year) showed that you can be pretty good with a weak arm. I think that's an exception to the rule, however.

Second, if you watch a lot of Burrow this past season you'd see that a ton of his throws were just throw ups to his WR's. His WR's were great enough to go up and get it. This inflated his completion %. i think a lot of his throws would have been picked off or broken up by NFL DB's.

Last, he had one season in college where he looked good. Was it the system? His teammates? I suspect both were bigger factors than him. I DO think he has a good feel in the pocket. I do think he's mentally tough. Is that enough to excel in the NFL and be a first round pick? IMO, no.

Alot of his throws were perfectly placed back shoulder throws.Pocket presence and anticipation are off the charts. Not to mention leadership.

That's the thing- there's almost zero film on him before this season since he was a backup his whole college career. Sound familiar? <cough, cough, Ryan Tannehill, cough, cough>

Looks like the Patriots will lose their first round pick, Adam Schefter reported the NFL will discipline them within the next two weeks for spygate 2.

so everyones pick beyond where the Patriots would pick would go up 1.

So, with awesome anticipation and accuracy Burrow can be great with the right system in the NFL? Plus he can work on his deep ball accuracy and strength to some degree. Look at how Brady improved as he matured as a passer.

BTW, do your same arguments apply to Tua? Plus the 'injury prone' label? Though we can probably get Tua at #5 with no extra cost in draft picks or players.

We could get Burrow a bit cheaper if he decides he wants no part of the mess in Cincy (bad owner, questionable front office, iffy head coach). I'd offer Cincy #5, #39, and Howard for Burrow under those circumstances.

Tua has best Wrs in college football and a better line and Burrows numbers were still better. How many big time throws did Tua have compared to Burrow?Look it up and it's not even close. And he is not injury prone like this guy.

A lot of people are floating the idea of trading up for Burrow. You could say in many ways, our franchises are in the same position - both in a dire need for a rebuild.

A lot of guys float ridiculous trades on this board. An easy way to evaluate whether or not your trade is realistic is to simply ask yourself, "If the tables were turned, would I make the trade?"

So let's imagine, the Dolphins have the first pick in the draft, and the Bengals are loaded with draft picks, would you have Burrow or a haul of picks?

I wouldn't even consider the draft picks. The Dolphins have perpetually needed a QB much like the Bengals, when you get an opportunity, it is not time to get cute.

After the season Burrow had, and after what he did to Oklahoma, there’s no way even the Bengals would trade that pick.

PS. After blowing a 16-0 lead, the Bills just tied the Texans with 10 seconds left.

He exceeded expectations by light years. I remember watching the (much hyped) LSU-Alabama game last year and thinking he was their Achilles heel. Fast forward to this year, and he lights up Alabama like they are a high school team. I’ve never seen progress that significant, ever. His confidence is through the roof - not sure if even Clemson can slow him down.

No. Burrow needs a better arm, IMO. Brady had the luxury of being able to depend on his coach and defense for 7+ years before he become better than average.

That's not true. LSU's WR's are arguably better than AL's. And Tua's numbers are better than Burrows this season.

Tua suffered a freak injury. Calling him injury prone is inaccurate.

I'd be comfortable taking him in the second round. The guy is not going to last in the NFL and I don't want him on our team. He's going to be out of football in five years.

Overpaying for anything doesn't make any sense. If the QB winds up being a great one, then you weren't overpaying. For your RGIII example, how about the Giants trading up for Eli? Eli has had a few bad years, but he won them two Super Bowls. How about the Chiefs trading up for Mahomes? How about the Texans trading up for Watson? Trading up for a QB makes perfect sense if you're confident in the QB.

Judy and Ruggs will be first rd picks this year so in my opinion they are better.
