I feel like that means hes already made the decision for the most part and is just reflecting on it Should be interesting. I'm still not against taking him at #18 if he slips. I'm not a huge fan but also he presents a potentially huge value there if the team believes in him and I'm incorrect.
He runs a huge risk by declaring. He was still using crutches when he was shown on TV. If he can't show he's healthy he could slide to the 3rd round or later.
I'd say he runs a bigger risk by returning to school. If he has an off year or medically struggles, that will raise more questions than he has now. Medically he is reported to be on schedule with good prognosis from involved doctors. I also wonder if with this injury he becomes uninsureable during that last year. Next year also may be a much stronger QB class as well. One thing that just kind of popped into my head though ... if he is behind on the medical front come draft time and has a feeling he will drop, could he undeclare, do more rehab and then go to the supplemental?
OT Alex Leatherwood returning to Alabama, does this translate into Tua not declaring and staying at Alabama?
I do not believe you can withdraw after the deadline to declare. The supplemental draft might be a better option.
Opinions seem to vary wildly. Some people think he will still go top 15 and I've seen a lot of others say he isnt safe to pick in the first round period. I guess we will see if he declares.
I don't want the Fins to draft him. But if he declares, that could help Miami trade down, which is my first choice given that we aren't getting Chase Young.
If we do end up taking him, which I dont have positive or negative feelings about, I want to throw the nickname "T Squared" out there lol
TLDR - "Further, the big money is in the second contract. By coming out now, he could get to that contract one year sooner, which could be advantageous in his race against time on his hip degenerating." In other words, he'll likely be able to play football but needs to start sooner rather than later to maximise his career length.
Prediction he's declaring for NFL. Sounds like it from Saban... "Proud of Tua". Lots of past tense stuff.... "The impact he's had" Sounds like he's building him up.
I wish he had just released a statement like everyone else declaring honestly, but now we will see how far he slides into the first.

Well, it's time for us to figure out what we need to move up to #3. Can we do it without giving up a first rounder?
That's the part of the hip injury that scares me, if he loses some of that "twitch", even after healing......
You guys know he doesn't have to play right away right? You all love Fitzpatrick. I can suffer with him for another year if it means a fully healthy Tua in 2021.
He won't mind. I've heard speak about it. He only took 13 because he was offered two choices and just picked that one randomly. Doesn't have a favourite number.
