I finished Jedi: Fallen Order. Its a very good game, but an even better Star Wars story. In many ways, its like Rogue One, and would have made a good movie.

I did find it to be an extremely challenging game, and ended up switching from standard to easy mode about three quarters of the way through. I would have liked a difficulty setting somewhere in between those.

EDIT: The game has also apparently sold better than EA thought that it would. Its EA, so who knows, but this hopefully means that they'll be more likely to make more single player Star Wars games like this one.

Pretty fed up with Elder Scrolls online. Not because of the experience playing the game itself, though I would like it a lot more if it were more similar to Skyrim. But moreso because not only does it take 120 GB of space on the PS4 to load it, but it also requires an additional 120 GB of free space in order to download updates! So I basicaly have to dedicate about 60% of my hard drive to one game at all times. I decided to just delete it and try again on the PS5 later on.

So I jumped back into MLB The Show 18. I posted this on reddit but thought I'd post it here. My guy is a dominant starting pitcher who has been stuck in the bullpen for no reason. Post below.

I never jumped to 19 and in the wait for 20 I decided to make a Flamethrower Starting Pitcher.

My player is named Tsuyoshi Seaman because I randomly chose from names that are available in audio. He was born at sea (this is a legit birthplace option lmao), he drifted alone on a raft to Japan after being part of a shipwreck (why his name is Tsuyoshi Seaman but he looks white) where he took up Baseball at an early age.

I went with a 4Seam, Palmball and Knuckle Curve to start. I just like the pitches. I've added a cutter since then and the pitches really work together. I'd like to add a slider or splitter as my last pitch when it becomes available.

Anyway I get drafted by Atlanta. I'm a Marlins fan so I feel dirty, but I make a story for my player that hes going to be the next great Braves pitcher to replace the great trio they used to have.

I dominate the minors and eventually get called up to start. I played well, low 1 ERA with a WHIP under 0.5 going 11-2 on the year. Things are looking good.

I'm now an 83 overall because I've been stuck in the bullpen THREE SEASONS. I get used about every other game so I hardly ever seem to get bullpen days to practice my skills.

I'm rated higher than 3 starters and havent been able to get into the rotation except one spot start where I went 7 innings, 2 hits, 9k and 0 ER.

I want to keep pushing forward but I'm so stuck

That's fun. I don't do the individual player stuff, but I've already preordered 20. I exclusively do franchise/owner mode.

I like the idea of Franchise mode but I hate simulating and 162 games is so many to play through in a year. Sometimes I do just play GM so to speak and simulate everything while making all the moves.

Road to the show as a starting pitcher is pretty fun. It feels like you have just enough control of your teams destiny.

You get out there every 5th day and try to snap losing streaks, build winning streaks, hope you get run support so on.

I havent had as much fun with the other positions though.

Back playing Monster Hunter World, but want to sink my teeth into the end of the base game before purchasing Iceborne.

I've been getting my *** kicked in this Behemoth event quest.

Is it the easy or hard one? There used to be two when I was playing.

It took FOREVER to beat the harder one with a team as a Dual Blade user but I refuse to switch weapons pretty much ever unless I'm playing with low rank players.

    Still doing my RTTS guy.

I forced a trade to the Rangers because the Braves just seemed intent on never starting me.

We finished in last place year 1 but I won the cy young with a 20-9 record, 2.18 ERA and over 300 k's

This year the team is way better. A game and a half out of first place and leading the wildcard. My player is 9-1 with like a 1.27 ERA and on pace for more Ks than last year by a few.

What's more shocking is our #2 starter is 8-1 himself.

Just the normal one. I use GS and for some reason, I'm extremely squishy right now. His spin attack takes me down if I'm at 3/4 health even after eating for defense, armorskinning, etc. I have a mixed set of Kushala, Nergigante, etc. Think I'm going to revisit after a little bit. There's a bunch of smaller side stuff I've been putting off that will offer me some zen right now. I just got to the two tempered Bazelgeuse quest so I may be biting off more than I can chew at this stage.

Yeah basically vs Behemoth you have to either not take hits or heal after every hit and have the items to mix more potions. The whole point of it when it was released was to be a major challenge for end game players before the release of Iceborne.

I know I called one the easy version but it's really hard too I didnt mean to downplay it LOL

So my player got another season in the books. AL Cy Young + AL MVP The playoffs were frustrating though, I only got 4 postseason starts. I won all 4 but I guess the AI doesnt shorten the rotation and moved me to start #3 for the WS.

That said in my only WS start we were down 2-0 in the series on the road. My pitcher comes to bat with 2nd and 3rd and 2 outside and drives in 2 runs early. We ended up winning the game 3-1 with my guy pitching all 9 innings.

We won the WS and I like to think my game was the turning point.

Offseason was horrible though. I saw my team was way below their budget so in my last arbitration year I sign a 1 year 30k contract hoping they will add more pieces. Unfortunately it looks like the team lost talent instead and went cheap. Lol

I was planning to move on in Free Agency next season when I'm eligible anyway, I want to play in the NL so I can hit and pitch to pitchers a few times a game.

I'm thinking of just doing 1 year tours with teams. Though if my Rangers win back to back WS it will be harder to walk away.

Extra fact: I missed the K record by 13. Finished with 370 on the year, no idea how Nolan Ryan racked up 383 it seems impossible lol

I've had the same thought regarding the K record. I've had seasons where I had an excellent starter who ended the year with around 300. But to get close to 400, you almost need to throw a complete game every time out while also striking most of the guys out every time.

I did once strike out 23 Brewers with Jake Arrieta, when he was at his best and their team was brutally devastated by injuries and starting four or five guys brought up from the minors.

    23 is a LOT

My biggest game was 18 I believe in a perfect game. I guess I could get it if I cranked the difficulty down but I like pitching on All-Star. For me its the perfect level where I play well most games but top lineups are a real challenge still and have the potential to knock me around and go yard.

I ended up with 1 less start than the year before and got chased from one game early, so MAYBE its possible but damn.

For the most part I went 7 innings or more every game and K'd double digits in most lol so you're 100% right on having to go all the way basically.

Oh yeah 23 is obviously nuts. I play on all star variable difficulty also. Arrieta was just absolutely perfect for the way that I pitch and the timing of his windup and release. One of the things that's both cool and frustrating about the game is how different pitchers can feel and respond, almost like driving different cars. I struggle badly with some, even if their ability stats are really high. Especially lefthanders.

I've noticed the wind up they have makes a difference.

It's hard to do a 1-1 comparison because you never know what the result of a specific AB would be with a different wind up, but just doing trial and error on different RTTS pitchers I've seen certain pitches and pitcher types work better with certain ones, I assume it may be a factor in franchise too. . Or I'm crazy LOL

My guy uses the Felix Hernandez windup and it's been working. I'd like to test some other ones out I havent tried but I also dont want to mess with success.

I've always liked Felix too. Back when he was in the game, Josh Beckett was one where I would change my pitchers that I developed from the minors to sometimes, because it worked really, really well for me. I like Jacob DeGrom, and although his name isn't on it, Ryan Dempster is in there still as well. That one works really well for my timing. Given my choice, I'm mostly sinker, slider, 2-seam, with the occasional changeup.

On the flip side, I dislike Kershaw, Sale and Bumgarner's windup and release a lot.

Speaking of releases, I know Randy Johnson is in the game as a generic but I wonder if Pedro Martinez is in it, I havent checked. He was always one of my favorite pitchers/players in the league.

Batting I always use the Ken Griffey Jr. stance since hes one of my favorite players that is actually in the game stance wise. I dont think Preston Wilson is there after all LOL he was my favorite Marlin as a kid after we sold the roster away in 98 I'd always sit behind center field and hed toss me a few balls a game/remembered me.

I tried a few windups out in spring training and figured it out some.

The point at which your pitcher releases the ball impacts the type of break it has.

When I chose Legend windup #1 my guy basically threw dart fastballs and breaking pitches that moved down heavily but with very little side movement and no movement up before breaking on the curve.

When I choose a less straight over the top delivery, my pitches tend to move east-west harder than straight down.

Now I'm trying out the generic "Greg Maddux" and it seems to be a good release point for my particular pitches. I also enjoyed the Cy Young release because it's ridiculous the way he winds his arm lol

I plan to try more in the spring again, but I'll play this season out with the Maddux first since I'm 8-0 so far in 9 starts lol

I may sign with the Marlins for 1 year in the offseason. They have like 4 pitchers with overall over 90 on their staff right now but still cant win games lol

Well it looks like my team has a chance to repeat. We are 3 games up in the division with about 15 games left, but 6 are against the #2 team. Even if we lose the division we will at least be a wildcard.

I'm at 18-4 this but my team has blown several leads for me. Back to back starts against the Angels I left up 5-3 in the 8th and got a no decision. Then in a recent game went out in the 9th up 5-1 and we blew it.

I have 3 starts left and I'd really like to get my 3rd straight 20 win year.

I'm interested what kind of offers I get in FA. I'm currently a 94 overall. My team has no offensive firepower so I want to go somewhere with bats in the NL.

I went to the Brewers for a year and that was a mistake LOL

They had gone 80-82 the year before so I thought I could get them into the race at least. I was wrong. I ended up a respectable but disappointing 15-8 and run support was elusive as a Sasquatch. I still managed to win MVP and Cy Young despite the low win total because I led the league in basically every other pitching category. The team itself was well below .500

I decided to sign with the Dodgers this year. The run support hasn't been great but it's been there at times so far. It's less frustrating because we are 25-15 so far though and in 2nd place behind the Giants.

Funny thing is the Rangers, the team I went to back to back WS with and won 1 before going to the Brewers, offered me the biggest contract to come back. It was like 10 years 317 million.

I wont play in the AL though. I love hitting with my pitcher. Since I'm supposed to be an "easy out" the AI mostly just grooves fastballs over the plate at me lol

We lost in the NLCS but I decided to come back a second year. Pitching in LA was awesome with their ballpark and I dominated the league pretty hard at 18-4 with a sub 1.24 ERA.

The best part was breaking the single season record by a single K.

Going into the last 3 games I needed 32 k's to tie, I averaged about 13 a game so I'm thinking "got it". First two starts I only K 9 guys each and needed 15 in the last game to get the record.

I go into the game not expecting to get it but knowing it's possible. I strike out 8 of the first 9 batters and things look good.

Its 0-0 going into the bottom of the 7th where they usually pinch hit for me in tied games, but thank the AI gods they let me hit and kept me in to pitch the 8th.

I fan the first batter to tie the record and the last to break it before exiting.

The NLCS was a heartbreaking 4-2 series loss though. Both games I pitched I went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The team won the first game but lost the second when they gave up 2 runs in the 9th of game at home to lose the series. I got two No Decisions.

I should get my copy of The Show 20 a couple of days after its in stores. I'm almost entirely a franchise guy, but I do have PS+ for the first time now, so I might check out the online features as well. I'm interested in the feature where you can rebrand team and create a new name and uniform from scratch, but the thing I'd most like to do with that aspect is just create a new alternate jersey for existing teams. We'll see if they let us do that.

Otherwise, what I think I'll end up doing is trading away some of the Cubs bigger pitching contracts for prospects, simming through the 2020 season, then seeing how I can fix them in the offseason before actually starting to play the games in 2021.

Yeah 2020 should be fun. I might do a Franchise as the Marlins when it comes out and try to make this team right for a change.

I mean, you could build an elite team just on the talent we have traded away in the last 15-20 years.

I'd really love if they had a way to add an expansion team to the league and follow the process the real way it would be in the MLB.

When the Cubs sucked, that's always what I would do. Tear them down to the foundations, trade everything away for prospects, and then see what I could build through the draft and free agency. In Madden, with far fewer games, I generally don't purely sim more than one year when I do this. But there have been years in The Show where I've gone three or more before I ever played a game. Once I did four or five.

I think since there are so many games each season Baseball lends itself to simulating games a lot.

Heck one of the first computer games I ever got into was called "FPS Baseball Pro (I think the year in the title was 98)" and while you could "play" the games it was mostly based on simulating.

It was the first game I ever played with minor leagues and player development, a college/HS draft for new players and so on. Ive gone back to try and find the game to see how well or badly it holds up with no luck.

I just read your RTTS player can go until age 45 LOL

My guy is currently 28 so I could potentially eclipse 400 wins if I played that long as a starter.

I think I'm going to play it more realistic though. At age 37-38 I will probably ask to be a reliever for the rest of my career.

I was thinking how crazy this guy would be to face in real life.

A 6-10 imposing figure with 5 dominant pitches who can max out at 102 MPH on the 4Seam. Though it usually sits around 99.

Approaching the end stretch of this year with the Dodgers. We are something like 40 games over .500 and aside from my pitcher, our #2 and #3 guys are next in the Cy Young race so far. Just flat out dominating. We have played somewhere in the 105 to 110 game range.

My guy is currently 15-1 thanks to healthy run support and being bailed out of losses by the offense a few times.

One thing I thought was cool, in one game the announcers started talking about my career innings pitched and strikeouts, listing some all time great guys I had either passed or was close to in those areas.

I started a new Dolphins franchise in Madden, inspired by the Combine and the coming offseason. I'll probably spend a lot of time with it the next few weeks until The Show comes out, and then shelve it until the Autumn.

I tried to pick up a recent Madden game after many years not playing it, the controls felt so awkward to me with all the new features since I have really played much.... I had a really hard time getting into it, which sucks because I really want to.

Its leveled off the last few years, after bouncing around for a while up and down. I'm much more into single player franchise than anything else, and I spend as much time on the GM aspect as I do playing the game. I have my own personal set of sliders that I have to use in order to make it feel right for me, and still then its a delicate balance between making things too easy and too hard.

Season 2 in LA ended with a 6 game WS victory for us against the Red Sox. We ended up winning 107 games on the season.

However, my player is a rogue. He goes where he hears the wind calling and signed with his favorite team, the Miami Marlins to see if he can get them over the hump.

They finished with 92 wins last year and with my signing we have two starters with a 99 overall rating. All 5 starters actually hover around 90 which should give us many wins, hopefully. We have started 8-2 on the year so far.

One of the guys who was the bane of my pitchers existence when I was in the AL is now on my team. I thought that was funny.

Still playing Monster Hunter, the last monster is Behemoth then I'm moving on to Iceborne. My friends want me to just buy Iceborne instead but I don't roll like that, son. I don't want to get the new powerful stuff in Iceborne then come back and cheese the difficult stuff at the end of the base game.

On top of that, I've got the FF7 Remake demo waiting to be played (going to go for it tonight if I have the time), and I'm waiting on some deals on some Switch action games, namely Daemon X Machina (scratch that Zone of Enders/Armored Core itch- what happened to all the single player mech games?) and Astral Chain.

Companies I've been absolutely digging on this gen: Capcom (back to the glory days!) and Platinum Games.

I'm not gonna do the Ff7 demo. I'll just jump into the actual game when it happens.
