Tua isn't a particularly smart person and struggles with reason.

Gonna pat myself on the back here. Wirfs crushes his workout and AJE had a bad Connie. Didn’t call it exactly but not far away.

would love to see us trade back, take Wirfs in late top 10 and AJE with #26 but won’t happen :)

The only thing worse than Tua at #5 would be the mock draft on cbs I just saw that had us trading the 5th and 18th pick for Dak Prescott.

I'd lose my mind if we did that garbage trade.

I was about to start a thread asking what would be the worst-case scenario for the Dolphins in the draft but I think that's answered that already.

Does Brady playing everyone off against each other help the Dolphins in free agency because if teams are worried that Brady is going to eat up a whole bunch of cap space in the near future then they can't go all out on their other positions targets which might lessen the competition for us slightly?

Holy s**t. Prescott isn't a bad QB, but he sure as hell ain't worth two first rounders.

I think the unusual volume of interesting free agent/trade targets at the QB position in general will likely help us. For instance, if the Chargers pick up someone, will they be as interested in mortgaging picks to reach up and take a QB? Or will they want to protect their FA, or will they be happy to sit and take a Herbert at 6 if he drops? Same with the Colts, Raiders, etc. As much fun as we have with the draft and mocks, FA will play a big part of how the draft will start to unfold.

Reading the article makes me wonder if the writer thinks Dak is a top 5 QB

"If Miami is willing to give up No. 5 and No. 18, the Cowboys pull the trigger and go sign a free agent. If you're Miami, you do that right? Two picks -- probably less than the cost of getting Tua in a trade up -- and you land Dak. You can hand him $40 million and get down to the business of building out your roster. I know the new "Moneyball" is having a QB on a rookie deal, but it's way more important to have a good quarterback.

The Dolphins can guarantee they've got a 26-year-old franchise quarterback, albeit one who is expensive. Let the Cowboys figure out how to rebuild at the position. This deal won't happen, because Jerry Jones loves Dak too much, having "found" him in the draft. But it's fun to imagine. Let's gooooo. "

I don't get why everyone loves Dak.

A solid but not great QB? For two first rounders and $40 million per year???? No thanks. I'd rather they spend the picks and money on the OL/DL and try and develop Rosen for another year than take that deal.

Using the top 5 prospects from NFL.com, what would you all think about us taking one of these blue-chippers below at #5 and then using one of our other picks, in the 1st, to grab our QB? Obviously, Burrow and Young aren't going to be available, but one of the other guys could fall to us. If so, who do you think between Okudah, Brown, or Simmons could help us the most?

I’m not even sure id want him straight up for our 18th. I think he benefits A LOT from that OL and running game.

I doubt any of the top 4 will make it to 18, or even relatively close. The bottom line is that if you think one of those 4 guys are your guy, you take him at 5. Don't get cute and lose out.

Oops. I was talking about #5. Sorry about that. I have since corrected what I was asking.

I'm fairly open to who ever the coaches want, with the expectation it will be a good player in a position of need that would be better taken later in the draft.

Examples would be running backs and kickers.

If we took a running back or a kicker in the first round I would be real excited, and not in a good way!

Given how little QBs have fetched via trade lately, I would be hesitant to give a second rounder for him.

Simmons is an absolute athletic freak that would be a Minkah-like player....could dominate from almost anywhere from DE to free safety. Big, fast, mean....I'd be all over that if he made it to 5.

Odukah has elite talent and easily the top corner in the draft, plus he's the most likely to be available at #5. It will be him or the lineman Brown and both are positions of need for us.

Chase Young is going to be a superstar, cut from that JJ Watt mold. It would be almost impossible to get him any later than #3 overall, and he only gets there if the Redskins trade out of the #2 position for a team wanting a QB.

Burrow is going #1 overall so there's noting to really say about him. Tons of talent, had a great year, and a smart kid with his head on his shoulders.

Out of the five, I'd take (in order)-

    Burrow
    Young
    Simmons
    Brown
    Odukah

As I said, Burrow and Young are definitely not available, so I'm hoping for Simmons but would be happy with any of them.

I meant QBs. Burrow, Tua, Herbert and Love. If Grier thinks some are franchise, elite capable QBs then you take at five. The only player to even consider otherwise is maybe Young because elite passrush is so valuable. As good as Brown, Simmons and Okudah are, they aren't resetting our franchise the way an elite QB or Edge player would. Those are the only realistic choices imo.

You're making the assumption we see any of them as game changers.

I could honestly see this as a draft where not a single guy ends up being a starting QB in this league.

It may be none of these players are worth that pick.

I am making that assumption because QB is just that important. And it may be that none of the non-QBs end up worth the pick either. The draft is a gamble, and it's time for us to cash in and make a bold move - get the QB.

My point is simply you dont cash in for something you dont believe in.

I wouldnt trade up for Tua just because he is Tua for example if I was unsure about him. Same for Burrow or any QB.
